And especially when you're doing a game based off an existing IP (like a comic book character), you have the ability to make the character look EXACTLY how they look like in the comic, manga, whatever. Couple that with the fact that when you choose photorealism as your art direction, and it is an art direction (a very oversaturated one these days), the flaws are more magnified than a stylized counterpart. THEN on top of all that, they intentionally do uglify them. Both for ideology, and out of fear that the models will be ripped for SFM and Blender porn.
