Radeon RX 9070 XT is the best value gaming GPU on the market

Why do AMD GPUs get so much hate here again?
>>
>>749781740
Their drivers were historically shit.
They're still shit, but nowhere near as bad as a decade ago.

Currently less buyers remorse with amd cards
>>
>>749781740
Lmao
Spending like $800 for the "privilege" of not having access to DLSS, RT or FG has to be the most cucked shit.
It made sense when they were cheap, but AMD got greedy and they're way too overpriced now.

>no dlss

That's just a brand name for raytracing. AMD GPUs have been capable of raytracing for four generations.

>>
>>749781740
It would be a much better value if it was actually msrp, but since every GPU is currently overpriced, and Nvidia GPUs even more so then yes its the best value on the market right now.

I've had a 9070xt for over a year. The performance is good, my only complaints are that the card gets really loud and it needs more VRAM. Trying to do local AI shit is possible with AMD, just a massive fucking headache that isnt worth it. Not enough VRAM to do anything interesting, but the ROCm support for this card is great if you're on linux.

FSR 4.0 is good. Ray tracing is mediocre but you dont need that gimmick shit. If you're just gonna play GTA 6 this is the card that will get you ultra settings with a smooth framerate for the lowest price. Though I'm gonna lower my settings deliberately just so my shit isn't so loud. It's seriously really fucking loud I can barely hear the game even with headphones.

>>
>>749783068
the 9070xt is like 400 dollars less than the 5070ti for the exact same or better performance
>>
>>749785068
Why get a 9070 XT? For a few hundred dollars more? Get a 5070 TI. Why get a 5070 TI? Few hundred dollars more than a 5070 TI? Get a 5080 instead.
>>
>>749784974
This is not 2020 anon, Nvidia nowadays have never failed to shat out driver update that doesn't contain serious bugs..
Heck, they just rolled out hotfix for black screen yesterday.
>>
>>749781740
>radeon
LOL
>>
>>749785424
AMD straight up broke Windows 10 compatibility when they released FSR4 support for RDNA3 cards not too long ago.
>>
>>749781740
My only issue with AMD video cards is that they perform poorly compared to nVidia cancer when it comes to AI stuff, thanks to how these language models have been programmed. My interest in playing around with image and video generation, and stuff like this, is really the only reason why I'd be looking to have my wallet raped by nVidia for my next video card upgrade. My current and previous three cards have all been AMD.
>>
>>749785365
>Get a 5080 instead
This desu, or just wait for the 24gb variant instead.
>>
>>749785498
At least its only pertain to FSR4 usage... Nvidia latest black screen pretty much require you to reboot into safe mode to clean the driver.
>>
>>749785365
It's like $500 more for the 5080 TI, in my cunt. That said, both cards are currently disgustingly overpriced, with the cheapest of the 9070 XT going for around $1200.
>>
>>749783275
Physx was open sourced in 2015. AMD GPUs can raytrace since 2014, feature added later. That's 7 generations.
>>
>>749781740
its actually the gtx 1080. 8gb of vram, $100, single 8 pin power, its the best
>>
>>749783275
>>749784974
>werkz on linux
beware there are reports that the 7.2 kernel version has bad AMD GPU driver crashes
incidentally, it's the first version to get significantly more vibeslopped commits, but it's surely a coincidence right?
>>

I used some software, ComfyUI, and I couldn't...for the life of me...render just a basic chess board connected to fifteen other chess boards. Just a picture of sixteen chess board put together. Was text to image.
AI as a whole is probably paused, and extremely retarded. The better software are all probably illegal until the illuminati are not threatened by jail time from any of the common, typical desktop computer users.
Don't wait up for AI to finally git gud.
>>749785556
NGL a 5080 is probably waaay too expensive. I can already play Microsoft Flight Simulator 40th Anniversary Edition at low settings, in VR, and with reasonable frames per second...but a 5080 is pretty much the next step up from a 9070 XT. Though nearly twice the price.

I'm kinda interested in this too. I mean, my current RX6700 XT is having some heat problems (hotspot sometimes being 30C higher than "normal" temperature, random spikes 10C above and GPU only have 3 years), so I was checking current cards and don't really know what's the actual performance difference between 9060, 9060 XT, 9070 and 9070 XT and which one is most reasonable.

that card will sure run amazing, when i buy it, used in 2028, in pc build for 1000$ that now cost 2000$
>>

Buy the strongest 9070XT. 10% improvement is a lot. Just avoid Gigabyte models as you will have the same hotspot issues with those.

>>749789268
10% sounds a bit small improvement but I guess that depends on price difference. Any other brands to avoid? My current RX6700XT is from Sapphire ("Pulse" non-OC version instead of "Nitro", had RX480 "Nitro" before and had to constantly watch over temperatures at some point because it would shut down when reaching 90C).

Is the 9070 XT better than a 4070 Super? I never use DLSS or ray tracing so I'm thinking of getting a 9070 XT to replace my 4070 Super but only if I'll get a big boost in frames.
>>
>>749789652
You were well beyond the point of watching temps when you're shutting down from heat.
1. Fix case airflow or take off the sidepanel.
2. Repaste with a good long term paste. Nothing "extreme" that dries out in 2 months.
>>
>>749790586
Pointless sidegrade.
>>
>>749789652
Just avoid the ones with infamous 12 pin, connectors. I myself have Sapphire Pure, works great.
>>
>>749790592
That was long time ago, about 3 years and that RX480 was 8 years old or something around by that time. I simply got worried recently since 6700 was reaching peaks of 110C at hotspot (with 80C on normal), while fans would casually stay at 40%. At one game, however, Endless Legend 2, which could be "just" bad coding. But something is generally wrong with fans, I made profile for just this game and with a bit more step fan curve but instead it jumped right to 60% fan speed when game started and stayed there (which indeed kept temps at 60C normal/70C hotspot but still, it's odd).
>>
>>749790887
Good thinking. 60/70 is excellent, 110 is downright dangerous.

ASUS 9070XT here, 90% of Cyberpunk graphical settings turned to the max. I use FSR, raytracing, framegen, HDR, on a QHD ultrawide, and I get stable and smooth 144fps. And my CPU and RAM although above average are pretty much ancient at this point. My box should be fucking howling in pain, but apart from heating a bit around 60°C I don't hear a single thing and it plays very nicely.
>>749782995
This should be stated. I had a 5070 that achieved a bit less but about the same performance, even though I got it for 540€ it felt almost bad having it. Paid 850€ for my 9070XT, I have absolutely no regrets considering first of all the drivers that work magnificently and also most of all the compatibility AMD provides with mid-range monitors and the gaming Linux distros.
>>
>>749791358

AMD drivers are great
Only thing that makes Nvidia better is CUDA monopoly, not chip tech
its insane when you look under the hood
Everything is suited for Nvidia architecture and Nvidias software, and if you bootleg some makebelieve hotfix that can emulate both on AMD architecture, like HIP currently is, AMD is almost on par with Nvidia in Nvidia world.
If we had honest raw performance, not phonefilter mickeymouse AI FPS, AMD is easily x10 more worth in $/performance

Is there anyone who can actually explain here why there is such a substantial price difference between the 9070 XT and the 5070 Ti? I bought a 4070 Ti SUPER about a year ago and have been largely under the impression that AMD cards are strictly inferior for people gaming on Win11. Is that true? Because if the anons ITT claiming that the shit really is $400 cheaper and pretty much exactly the same performance wise, then that makes the 5070 Ti a scam, pretty much. Which i honestly doubt.

i cant agree with this, i got both and my main pc has the 5070ti
in a perfect world, if we just only gamed and games ran just pure raw shit, i think the 9070xt wins
in our world, im forced to use the ai, raytracing crap is there, i do have a preference for DLSS if so, cuz its so widely supported, nvidia seems to have a gun to every devs head to use it, amd missed the boat by not forcing every dev to comply to FSR4, the last thing i run the nvidia daily for is just cuz of general ai shit
however, caveat, i got both cards at nearly identical prices a year ago (~720), if i had waited, the XT would actually be cheaper now (699ish), amd is so unloved in this regard, they didnt even get more expensive, they got cheaper now that amd flooded the market

/v/ is full of normies that would rather spend the same amount of money on the 5070 rather than the 9070XT because AMD had bad drivers in 2013.
They also value CUDA even though no one uses more than once or twice.
They would also prefer to use DLSS upscaling at all times rather than playing natively.
>>
>>749796814
I liked having my eGPU a while back; it was nice having a relatively light laptop for doing laptop things with, but for gaming at home, sitting at a desk I could get pretty close to desktop performance out of my gtx 1080 (2018 or so?)

not sure if modern laptops with discrete GPU's are much lighter now, but back then to get any sort of decent performance you had to lug around a god damn behemoth -- even if you didn't really do any gaming while out of the house.

I sold my 5070ti because it had nonstop driver issues

when is nvidia going to fix their drivers on linux & windows they are worse than amd now

Nvidia forums are nothing but driver issues unresolved

Nvidia mega thread is full of driver issues on reddit and also on guru3d that place is older than 4chan and it's nonstop Nvidia issues there.

>NVIDIA says 617.70 resolves some, but not all, cases of the black-screen issue. The company continues investigating the remaining cases
>NVIDIA recommends opening NVIDIA Control Panel, selecting Manage 3D Settings, and changing Power Management Mode to Prefer Maximum Performance.
>A separate problem involving G-SYNC becoming unavailable after a monitor wakes from sleep also remains under investigation.

Yeah bro just disable VRR & make your GPU run at 150+ Watts at idle to "mitigate" the Nvidia driver issues

The whole fukken world has driver issues on Nvidia on both Windows & Linux anyone saying it just works it's a fucking lying bitch faggot

Im talking driver timeouts, crashes, stutterings, low frame rates, screen flickering, issues with multi monitor setup, the gpu itself behaving erratically

The latest AMD iGPUs can rival the 3060 non-TI. Slap FSR4 on it and you can get some pretty great graphics at a very decent perfomance.

It's strange because for a veeeery long Nvidia had amazing drivers both on Windows and surprisingly on Linux too.
I think they're trying so hard to rush the next iteration of DLSS at the best performance possible, that they keep breaking shit all over the code base.
I look at it this way: Remember what happened to Intel? How they stagnated and AMD's CPUs eventually surpassed them? If Nvidia stagnates than AMD GPUs could do the same. To prevent stagnation Nvidia needs to aggressively innovate and keep AMD chasing breadcrumbs. After all, the industry follows Nvidia, not AMD. So whatever Nvidia shits out, the industry will swallow it - doesn't matter if it crashes or burns.

It doesn't matter if Nvidia keep releasing gigantic, expensive monolithic chips because they have CUDA and the industry uses CUDA. That simple.

The Intel/AMD scenario can never happen between Nvidia/AMD because AMD is essentially controlled opposition. AMD graphics are fine, but they'll ensure that it never gets to the point that Nvidia starts getting cannibalized.

I would call RDNA1 and 3 the stopgap or beta generations. 2 and 4 were and still are amazing architectures.

Don't bother undervolting your card. The RX 9070 XT already runs very efficiently. Especially if you have a good card like a PowerColor Hellhound, which is already set nearly to the bare minimum voltage by the manufacturer. This was not always the case, but it is today.

Sapphire Pulse here. Could undervolt -30mV. Been running fine since release.

they're still not taking rdna4 that seriously and are going all in for udna
rdna4 had no mobile silicon
>>
>>749798234
that was practically before they were taking AI seriously
it's probably safe to say situations are completely different today.

Silicon lottery is always worth playing around with. My pulse 9070 non-XT does -55mV no problem. Bumped it down from -60mV after getting some hangs in NMS a month ago, but that game is pretty jank in the graphics department.

thats why nvidia stock price is worse than amd

honestly give it a little bit more time, MS is apparently incapable of NOT shooting themselves in the foot, which means linux will continue to improve at an even faster rate.

Confirm. The worst part about amd stuff is their software.

Depends on the region. When I was buying when prices weren't as bad a year or so ago the 9070xt was still a fair amount more than a 5070 which was the only card retailing for around msrp at the time. I did the math and the 9070xt was around 20-25% faster on average than a 5070 but the price was also 25% more and you also lose the nvidia features by going amd so I decided to just save money and get the 5070. I'd have preferred the 5070 ti but that was another 15% more than the 9070 xt.

how long will i have to keep my 7900xtx i wonder.. will the price/perf ever make a worthwhile upgrade?
>>
i bought mine on launch day for msrp and i feel very lucky

9070XT is only faster than yours in RT
It seems RDNA5's flagship will target 5080's performance, at hopefully much better efficiency
I'd probably wait until RDNA6 or UDNA. I'd definitely buy the architecture that comes after the architecture PS6 will use. So if PS6 uses RDNA5 then waiting for RDNA6 or UDNA would be the best decision in my opinion. Or Nvidia's equivalents.

actually helpful post/10
thx bro.

???
9070xt has 64 CUs and the 5080 is only about 20% better
rdna5 and udna are the same thing
next flagship will be between 96 and 154 CUs
