How do we feel about The Lion himself appearing in Dawn of War IV?
>>
How about the gameplay? Is it any good?
>>
>>749842386
That's not relevant to the discussion.
>>

Seems pretty meh desu.
The devs are really hyping up pvp which concerns me.

Hopefully the campaign/story is solid enough to play
>>
wh40k is one of a few IPs that really taught me to stop caring about lore
>>
>>749842386
Every single gameplay video consists of both guys marching their dudes into a chokepoint to die. There's no cover, no vehicles, no artillery (besides one-click call ins), no flanking. Seems like a very stale game.

Hate Dark Angels. Gimmie BLUD RAVENS
>>
>>749842279
I've never known a single irl dark angels fan.
In fact I don't know exactly why but DAs as a whole just come off very cringe, like someone's OC faction. Or like they were just transplanted from some other setting/game.
Maybe it's the fact that they have a "secret" that literally everyone knows about and their entire existence revolves around it, as if it matters at all.
Or the weird "knight" theme that Grey Knights do better anyway.

Apparently it's going to have 48 levels, 4 times as long as DoW1. I haven't heard if that's segmented into 4 separate campaigns and not one mega long one, but we'll find out I suppose.

Still. It's kind of whack in terms of the power level. Do the Orks get to bring in a Beast? Necrons get to bring in the Silent King? What does the Admech even have on that power scale?

I'm not mad but Son of the Forest had the Lion essentially curbstomping everything in his path and Guilliman's revival reversed the invasion of Ultramar and Guilliman is regarded as one of the mediocre primarchs in terms of martial ability

Dumb idea, like Calgar showing up in SM2
You know the writer isn't allowed to kill them like they could with OC characters, so it harshly limits the possibilities for the story, and they inevitably steal the spotlight by their very presence

It also just does a lot to undermine the 'million worlds of the Imperium, this setting SO BIG bro' notion when the same named characters pop up in everything, like Cadia is long gone and yet Cadians are still the default regiment for all writers, even the ones in SM2 were Cadians

What as the Lion actually DONE though.
As flat of a character as Angron is, at least I know of a few things he has done.
All I know about the Lion is that he grew up on a feudal world, was sleeping in the Rock until recently, and his sons are paranoid little shits.

It's a notable feat that automatically means he'll be the bestest boy for atleast a few years.

Brentonian Knight aesthetic while also being the absolute best swordsman out of the entire Primarch collection.
Currently probably the only person alive in lore than could theoretically 1v1 Daemon-Prince Angron and slap his shit.
One of the reasons (among many others) Horus lowered his shields to fight the Emperor is because The Lion and Rouboute were about to arrive at Terra, and Horus and The Lion had BOTH previously stated that Lion el Johnson would win that fight, if it came down to it.
Meaning that the man that was empowered by every Chaos God and was the Warmaster of the Primarchs chose to have a final fight against The Motherfucking Emperor, rather than be humbled by his brother.

But then his planet collapsed onto him (no, really) and he took a 10,000 year nap.
And he's also bland as heck and comes off as legitimately autistic in the books.
>>
>>749843526
It's time to bring back Dorn.
>>
>>749844805
that's kind of the problem, he boils down to "guy is really good at fighting like a knight" and then that's it. no personality, no interesting stories about him, no banter, no interactions with major characters or factions that are interesting, etc..

And also the Emperor's Shield was in there, for some reason that is never explained. Also suspicious since he's never depicted as even USING a shield.

Whatever. At least the forest path thing means it makes sense for him to be everywhere he needs to be.

In both 30k and 40k, they're marines with a modest amount of extra drip and cool toys whilst still being somewhat vanilla, leaning closer into the idea of marines being akin to space knights, just more Arthurian. Contrast to the Crusader style for Black Templars, or Grey Knights being more akin to high fantasy paladins, and the two of these also deviate further from being similar to OG marines in gameplay.

Yeah but Brettonian questing knights is someone you actually want to meet. In Warhammer Fantasy Battle a questing knight announcing their presence is demoralizing for most evil creatures and instantly rejuvinates the good guys.

The Lion does the exact opposite of that, minus the demoralizing on his enemies. His children are worse in every way too as they are plagued by a shame for betrayal that makes no sense to be secretive about 10,000(+) years later.

I generally like both DoW1 and 2 but for different reasons. 1 is a more traditional RTS but emphasizes map control and aggressive play. 2 is small squad based tactics meant for at least 2v2 team play, and the campaign is almost a full on arpg but you control multiple characters instead of just 1. Sometimes I want one more than the other, but 3 kind of throws out both styles to not quite be a MOBA and an RTS at the same time and isn’t good at either.

It was pathetic in Rogue Trader Infinite Museion. Owlcat blatantly had to put in them on GW demands, most likely due to Kill Team Tomb World releasing few months back.
>Enter small Trazyn Museion
>Meet random Deathwatch marine
>Free him and only him even though tons of other cool characters being present, including other Imperials and Eldar which would be sensible to free to join forces or a Zoat which could be actually interesting to interact with
>He won't join you and instead wants to stay being all mysterious on a secret mission. Alone. In a hostile territory where he was trapped once already.
>Basically he lore dumps Deathwatch fluff, which feels extremely out of place at that point in story and fucks off
>Meet him again near the end of the dlc
>He shows up to help in one minor fight
>Won't help you fight Trazyn saying it's pointless since he can't be killed since he uses spare bodies all the time
>Fucks off again to work on his secret mission
>This is despite you being responsible for a full scale invasion on this Museion, a full blown siege due to which Museion starts to fall apart and everything is set free in it
>Actually destroy Museion in process and leave
>He is still utterly irrelevant and never heard from again
Really felt like GW just told them to make sure Deathwatch is in and their lore explained as an advertisement so they put him in with the least screentime possible and being utterly irrelevant to the plot just to complete deal on their end. Deathwatch was GW mandate, not Trazyn, a named character Owlcat was finally allowed to use. Which they tried previously already with Vect, but GW blocked them.

They make perfect sense for a Chaos Gate though. Natural direction after making Grey Knight game.

We got space High Elves, Dark Elves, that the Exodites could've been a shoe-in for Wood Elves. But GW has been consistently shafting any army that isn't Marines (Imperial or Chaos) for years now. They weren't going to anything like that.
>>
Lion El isn't exactly a very interesting primarch. Dunno why they're using him.

Of the remaining loyalists you have Corvus, Vulkan, Guiliman, Russ, Genghis Khan and then technically you could use Omegon if you were insane. Guiliman is already active and so would be reasonable to use in a story in some capacity, three of the others have just 'vanished into the Warp', Vulkan is momentarily dead but will be back shortly, and Omegon is probably also dead but calling a character Omegon and then not having it be Omegon would be pretty funny.

Out of those Lion is the most boring option. Only reason to use Dark Angels is for the Dark Angels murder-boner for traitors, but you can slap that on any legion.

The biggest indicator for quality of writing of DoW 4 is if Lion El Johnson is actually killable
Imperium wank is on the rise in BL and in tabletop because of Astartes and SM2, a lot more people buy into the hype that the imperium wins by default instead of just being another playable faction.
Worse, Lion is a primarch which means he gets wanked extra hard as a "main character" of 40k and he himself is jerked off as being the best primarch so a lot of people expect him to be unkillable
In Battlefleet Gothic Guilliman was killable and capturable by other factions, and in tabletop both returned primarchs are defeatable, and i can only hope that continues in this game

>>
>>749844287
The lion is leagues below the silent king. The silent king has like 3 sentences of fluff of him actually fighting and he's jerked off harder than great crusade era emperor (which is good)

No, they had eons to make the galaxy a better place but did the opposite instead. Also despite the fact that the majority of their race are basically cenobytes who created a new chaos god, they still somehow believe themselves better than humans.
It's made especially ridiculous when you consider the fact that the Eldar had all of their ability and technology handed to them and never advanced beyond that, whereas humans came from dirt and built even more advanced technology despite the fact humans had existed for 0.5% of the time the Eldar had. Even after the end of the golden age, humans just picked themselves back up, conquered the entire galaxy and started working on getting into the webway. And yes, E is human, perpetuals are a human mutation.

>despite the fact humans had existed for 0.5% of the time the Eldar had
so what you're saying is that the imperium burnt itself down in a century when it took the eldar 60 million years
>they still somehow believe themselves better than humans.
they kinda are though, at least in regards to chaos. Most branches of the eldar race after the fall immediately rectified their society to protect against slaanesh. Harlequins have their god actually actively protecting them, craftworlders and exodites way of life protects them and their actual day to day life is only described as pleasant. and even the dark eldar took steps to actually protect against chaos by living in commeragh where demonic incursions are a rare footnote
The imperium makes a big point of being a bulwark against chaos but the raped emperor effectively made a galaxy wide civilisation optimised to feed all 4 of them. 99.9% of chaos worshippers are humans because 40k humans are the most gullable creatures in the setting and the imperium produces whole herds of dumb cattle ripe for any cult leader to convert. That's also why almost every genestealer cult is human despite the fact that to every other faction they're a minor pest that they've only lost to maybe once

Primarchs have been a joke for the last 4 editions on the tabbletop. Yeah, they are occasionally broken but "Shoot them off the board" has always been a option. Lion himself was a punchline for like two editions for being a 500 point model that somehow barely justified 200 points.

40K in general hasn't been herohammer for a long time. HH is closer, but it also has some truly wacked out options from Forge World.

I'm torn on that since Marines really have been getting weaker and weaker with every edition. Custodes as well have just plain dropped off a cliff, though that is mostly due to losing rules. I also just want the game to get smaller, because I'm tired of lugging around my entire Ork collection for a 2000 point game.

> Some marine units move faster than eldar now
That is silly, though Eldar speed is kind of weird in general since depending on the edition it's more their vehicles than the infantry.

Genuinely great follow up to a 5/10 game that got boring fast. The 4 mono-god factions have their quirks that make approaching them very different, and possibly the Plague Marines are the worst, farting, shitting, and planting damaging mines everywhere. I actually like it, I have to keep them in that mid-long range area to bait their shit spray attack that has very short range but stops them from throwing grenades. For levels I've seen thus far, trench warfare, block to block city fighting that ends with you clearing a building floor by floor before a friendly gunship clears the rooftop and lands letting you end the level. A train level, a nuclear launch silo, a mine that lets you both ride a cart and mulch cultists with it as a battering ram. A rotating power station that radically alters the level geometry. Auroch got incredibly creative with the levels and the set pieces inside them that I actually wanted to replay it again to see all the levels I didn't choose on the first playthrough because it also has branching paths. Guns are also better thanks to no strength/toughness BS to get in the way. A gun deals full damage to all enemies no matter how big they are. Malum got 1 new weapon, and frankly it's all he needed. It's a fully automatic grenade launcher and it kills damn near everything you point it at.

It's actually pretty damn good this time.

That's not what happened. Eldar tech isn't Old Ones tech. Which is why Orks and Jokaero, both also Old Ones creations, have completely different tech as well. It's all their own. Only thing which arguably was "given" to Eldar is a Webway, which is arguable, because it's entirely possible Old Ones made Eldar so they could make Webway for them.
Other races like Humans ripped off and reverse engineered Eldar tech. All power, chain, force, even melta weapons are Eldar tech DAoT and other Aliens made discount, inferior copies of

Why are you repeating this and misunderstanding so much?
They didn't want a Chapter Master, but a Captain as a protagonist which is why they picked Cyrus instead of Gabriel. It makes perfect, absolute sense.
Dark Angels also have merely a Captain and other factions have equivalent HQs
Lion will be set piece in like a last mission at best

>theres no reason for dark angels to be in this game other than to steal the spotlight from the blood ravens, because games workshop wants to advertise dark angels?

That's pretty stupid logic when Gabe is a Chapter Master to a lesser known successor chapter that primarily operates in what might as well be the boonies of the Imperium. Not having the 1 character that has appeared in every Dawn of War game but instead have a primarch of one the first founding legions and the literal first legion at that? That reeks of someone at GW dictating that so the game can be advertising for a presumably $200 miniature. Likewise the Blood Ravens weren't a "tacticool" Chapter. They were a secretive bordering on actual heretical chapter with an unusually high number of psykers and a pension for foresight in their actions and war planning. There aren't exactly a lot of chapters whose chief librarian and chapter master were the same person, and that didn't go so well for them when half the chapter turned to Chaos and the other half didn't even know it was happening.

DAoT was explicitly inferior to Eldar Empire. Objective, meta statement is that no other Empire could hope to ever best Eldar Empire - period. Eldar didn't even need to fight their wars anymore, their Iron Knights (proto Wraiths) won all conflicts automatically for them to the point Eldar didn't even pay attention to wars.
DAoT could only fight and win against Exodites, guys with intentionally inferior tech, which other factions can fight against in 40k too. There is one mention of DAoT (still with Men of Iron at their side) starting war with Eldar and losing it. Which makes sense of course otherwise hyper aggressive DAoT Empires ruled by insane dictators which otherwise enslaved everyone else would have conquered galaxy by then. But they didn't since they couldn't best Eldar.

>That's pretty stupid logic
There is nothing stupid about this. Every faction has a Captain equivalent for an HQ for skirmish. Question was asked why Cyrus and not Gabe. Gabe is tier higher, that's why not it would be off playing entire game as Marines who only have a tier higher HQ. Or in skirmish. Perfectly sensible choice to make a Captain as a character for Marines
>instead have a primarch of one the first founding legions and the literal first legion at that?
Because it's last mission hype unit and not a regular unit in skirmish and for 99% of a campaign
> Likewise the Blood Ravens weren't a "tacticool" Chapter
They were ALWAYS tacticool. Every single instance of their battle tactics being mentioned and described paints them as a tacticool chapter. They use their Psykers as advisors to predict enemy movement and devise perfect plans which then their generic tacticool marines normally fight. Which is why they trained their Tactical and fucking Devastator squads in stealth. Which is why in games they fight like generic Marines, but players then savescum so they always win perfectly. Which is why their fluff is joking about when describing their tacticool approach to warfare. They are the most tacticool chapter next to Raptors and Mentors. Hence it makes sense for their Phobos focus now.
Blood Ravens are explicitly described as a "cowardly" chapter and directly contrary to knightly ones like Dark Angels and Black Templars. Which is why one of them shows up as a second subfation

>Because it's last mission hype unit and not a regular unit in skirmish and for 99% of a campaign

That is the exact same bit Relic did with Gabe at the end of DoW2s base campaign where he comes in with the rest of the chapter to assist in fighting the Tyranids and again later in Retribution. He can work as a campaign only hero unit if being a chapter master is somehow "too powerful" for a standard faction commander unit.

>They were ALWAYS tacticool. Every single instance of their battle tactics being mentioned and described paints them as a tacticool chapter.

They were shown as a mostly codex compliant chapter that acted as secretive and shadowy as the Dark Angels due to the psychic foresight having them only ever attack when they knew what the outcome was going to be. They were never "tacticool" as that implies the kind of gay modern warfare shit and still used a lot of the basic strategies that pretty much all the standard codex based chapters used. They were seen as untrustworthy after DoW2 had all the item descriptions leave the implication that they had a habit of stealing other chapters war gear and claiming them as their own.

>Perfectly sensible choice to make a Captain as a character for Marines
Yet previous SM hero units included a Chaplain (actually sensible) a Librarion (also an HQ choice) and a Techmarine, which was never an HQ option at all. If we're talking sensible, you could still have a chapter master as a powerful relic or late game super unit you can only ever have 1 of. Like either you get a chapter master out or you choose some other equally powerful unit to put down instead. Just saying "yeah we can't have this guy because we just can't balance him" but then go "oh yeah but we can include this even more blatantly overpowered character instead" is still poorly thought out logic.

>That is the exact same bit Relic did with Gabe at the end of DoW2s base campaign
Yes, so exactly what happens with Lion here. Gabe doesn't have to be everywhere
>They were never "tacticool" as that implies the kind of gay modern warfare shit and still used a lot of the basic strategies that pretty much all the standard codex based chapters used.
They were explicitly tacticool. You can check any source describing their combat doctrine. Unlike Black Templars, Blood Angels, Dark Angels or Space Wovles, they are all about smart plans, predicting enemy movement, striking at weakest possible point, researching enemy, using tacticool probing strikes, using stealth etc
Currently the most flavorful army for them would be indeed using Phobos units like Incursors, Infiltrators and Eliminators guided by Phobos Librarians. Which is why this how they mostly fight in DoW4. I made even a compilation for you.
https://youtu.be/lshE06-vJTw?t=146 This is really, literally a perfect representation of how Blood Ravens fight.
>Just saying "yeah we can't have this guy because we just can't balance him"
As a normal SM commander. Not unique last mission unit.
>>

Corax doesn't need to be brought back. Nigga never left. He's the one confirmed to have been kicking around for 10k.

>>
>>749867496
>he only has to be in every Dawn of War gam
Nah. It's fine for other characters to show up, instead of using this same guy everywhere. That would make galaxy smaller
>>
>>749867316
I would expect Gabe to at least be in the game series that he started in and not be sidelined so GW can try to sell nerds and people with poor impulse control a fancy new primarch model. Why can't Lion show up literally anywhere else instead? SM2 is still getting updated and Sabre clearly gets plenty of income from the game still to just make a new PvE mission featuring a primarch show up as a set piece event. Or have him appear in the TW40k game thats coming up. Surely that can feature a blatantly powerful commander unit when CA has repeatedly done that for TWW1-3.

I would argue it did to some extent. Without the HH series we wouldn't have nearly as much primarch capeshit in the setting, which has drawn in a large audience who only care about these twenty-odd specific characters. But I mainly play 30k tabletop so I guess I don't have much room to complain, lol.
>>
>>749867764
It's just annoying because it always get recommended, when the entire thing is a damn prequel that's going to give everyone the wrong impression. Which I guess has creeped into 40k.

It sets up why the Imperium is in such a shitty dismal state. The problem is that they people want to give it some air of mythos and legend that no one knows about or remembers by the time of 40k.
>>
>>749867878
>It sets up why the Imperium is in such a shitty dismal state
Yet the 30k Imperium is no different than the 40k one.
>>
>>749867878
We already knew the main plot points of the heresy to explain why the imperium sucks, the book series just massively over-expanded on it and primed a massive portion of the 40k audience to view 40k as a story and not a setting to have plastic army men battles in. IMO that is the main damage the HH books have caused.

>>
>>749867878
That really only works when it's not depicting the characters in a mythic way as though it were a legend being told, and not as a first hand account from the perspective of the characters. Which takes it from myth and legend to hard fact as we get to know things that no one in universe save the absolute oldest characters would even know about.
>>
>>749868048

>>
>>749868094
>very first edition
>crimson fists on the cover
hmmmmm
>>
>>749868018
This is my main gripe with the heresy novels' setting honestly, the imperium feels almost exactly the same as it does 10k years later. I feel like Abnett tried a bit in the first books with the remembrancer stuff, but it's still like 95% the same as it is later. I feel like the authors were too scared to write the Imperium as something radically different because it might scare some people off.
>>
>>749868213
Rick Priestley himself said the same thing when asked what he thinks about the book series. He originally envisioned the Imperium as a golden age of humanity until Horus drank the Chaos juice. And with different aesthetics instead of 40k space marines with Roman plumes.

This is why the Horus Heresy novels suck dick, because this DID matter. Originally there were no traitors from the loyalist legions except from the Dark Angels. That's why they're so autistic about keeping it secret. Then the novels showed there were traitors in other legions too which makes the entire gimmick of the DA useless.
>>
>>749842553
RTS are developed with PVP in mind. If it doesn't work at putting to human players against each other then building a campaign on that frame then it's not an RTS, might as well be a tower defense, an adventure game or a city builder
>>
>>749868172
>What's wrong with that?
40k is just not a setting that works when there's one big over-arching plot everything has to revolve around. It's a framework to tell stories in. The whole appeal is that it's a vast galaxy you can be a part of by building and painting an army and making them your dudes who exist in the setting.

The HH novels told one massive central story that revolved around a limited selection of Named Characters (the primarchs) making galaxy-shaking decisions. Which is fine itself, because that's what the Heresy was. The issue is that those novels became so popular that GW followed the money and now the primarchs are in 40k now, and have started centralizing all the attention on themselves. I mean look at any 40k discussions online and half of it is just about the various primarchs. All the big announcements are about a new primarch returning or a primarch doing something. It makes the setting feel small.
>>
>>749867348
Leman and Jaghatai are still around, well, still not confirmed dead might be more accurate. Jaghatai was last seen blitzkrieging into the webway to get back the chogorians that the Deldar took in a raid while he was busy on Terra, and Leman is maybe in Nurgle's realm looking for what sounds an awful lot like one of the three intact eldar gods, to help cure Big E of his chair addiction.

I always thought they were so shamed by it because unlike the other loyalists who had small portions of their legions turn traitor, the DA had like 1/3 of their legion turn. Plus their legion rebels killed their primarch (or so they believed) which is extra embarassing.

Also, the DA were 'the first legion', they considered themselves to be above the other legions because they got special treatment from the emperor, so it could also be seen as a result of their pride being wounded.
>>
>>749846218
I read in the Horus Heresy books that the armour of the 30k Marines were like this, very decorative full of adornments and stuff but over the years the 10k years to 40k they got rid of all that stuff, standardised the look baring a few chapters.
Think this is why I really like the aesthetic of atmosphere of 30k over 40k.

Chaos primarchs make a threat, do a narrative event where both sides have fun, get banished by an imperial names character and leave while maybe leaving some minor consequences on the faction they fought. They might also get visitors to their small realm and or do some mysterious plotting.

Loyalist primarchs are expected by imperiumfags to come bad and instantly save the imperium and fix all its institutions on top of getting along witu or dominating every imperial subfaction faction that opposes them, and some Imperiumfags are naive enough to think that returning primarchs should be allowed to kill the leaders of other factions because they're primarchs

They're space vampires, and vampire literature has forever ruined vampires and drained them of all their masculinity.

Just as long as he's stupidly overpowered, that's fine. Controlling a Primarch should be a power fantasy stacked ontop of every other power fantasy.

This is the goddamn death knell of every goddamn RTS. They should fucking ignore it and get onboard for campaign, co-op, and modders/custom modes first of all. After that, they can spend time with competitive matches and balancing.

I hope you're not one of those Jeets that are over there now and are British stock Canadian (or French I'll even accept that).

Johnson is a 12 foot tall power armored Nightcrawler with a sword that can cut through anything and a shield that can block any attack. He'll be overpowered if they put in even a token effort to make him lore accurate.

They better do that. Nothing will be more disappointing than going through whatever late game fuckery necessary to deploy him and he dies to a handful of mid or high tier units without doing anything.

>>749880934
Debatable if they're all immortal. I mean Emps probably is (though Malcador and Erda are both Perpetuals and I think both of them have died somewhat properly and havent' come back) , some Primarchs come back, the only one that's a natural Perpetual is Vulkan but I don't think he's back yet (or if he was fucked over.. Lion and Gulliman basically were in long term healing status and took either DaoT fuckery (Lion, DA and Watchers in the Dark) or Eldar Ynarri death god avatar gilrfriend waking his ass up after he healed for 10K years (Gulliman), so its kind of hard to say they all come back. The Chaos Primarchs can reconstitute but so can any Daemon Prince so that's not usual. Sanguinius was killed ,but his soul is split into light and dark aspects and he could combine some time - I think the dark aspect is being imprisoned by the only guy who ever basically not only tamed the Black Rage but was told by Sang "Hey, if you imprison this thing you'll die eventually, but you'll help our entire chapter. You'll also be stupidly overpowered with my rage until you die so.. that's an idea". There are other Primarchs that are "lost in the warp" they can bring back, notably Corax and Jagatai but as far we know they're not dead.
>>
>>749880934
>Primarchs are an unholy fusion of human souls with the warp
Every time you hear someone self assuredly telling you what primarchs are, it's 99% headcannon. The only concrete information is that they are products of top of the line generating and that they had something warp related infused into them, everything beyond that is conjecture like the "primarch souls give them extra strength" and "they contain trapped minor gods" nonsense
>They are capable of coming back from death, like the Lion did, but it takes a fucklong
Lion didn't die, he was stuck in a coma
The two times resurrecting primarchs is seriously talked about is Khan getting resurrected after fighting stinkchud where he was still technically just on the brink of death and the emperor talking about how he could totally bring Ferris back which is more a bone thrown towards desperate iron hands fans.

Space Marines and Primarchs are gay. I'm not interested until they add The Man The Myth The Legend Inquisitor Eisenhorn.
Inquisitors get the shaft on tabletop. They deserve game representation be it vidya or tabletop. Nothing more Kino than a principled intelligent psycher armed with esoteric knowledge, arcane weaponry and an army of hand-picked masters in their field telling enemies of the empire to "SIT" and "DROP IT" while the enemy freezes and dies without fighting back. An otherwise normal dude (other than being a minor psycher) able to muster armies of space marines, star ships, mechanicus, guardsmen, etc under his command.
Genuinely the ONLY thing interesting in the Imperium is the Inquisitor faction. The rest is a BORE. Hopefully we at least get more xenos factions.

Ahh so you DIDN'T read them. Got it. Thanks for confirming. There is a REASON Eisenhorn survives as long as he does and it isn't by his will, despite him believing it at first. It isn't like helmetless Space Marine who is super spechul and super tacticool and that's why he lives. Or Mr. Primearch who comes back to life because... because he just does OK!

>Horus and The Lion had BOTH previously stated that Lion el Johnson would win that fight, if it came down to it.
Call bullshit on that one, Sanguinius was the best Primarch on 1v1 and while he was winning the first part of the fight, the moment Horus fully used Chaos powers he defeated him. Ascended Horus was the Emperors equal, if not slight stronger, the Lion couldn't match him.
The reason he Horus lowered his shields is because both Guilliman and the Lion had massive Legions who didn't get as much damage during the war as all the others, the moment they got to Terra as reinforcements the war would be over, even if Horus himself wasn't defeated.
>>
>>749842279
is that one of those space marines
>>
>>749852806
They have a interesting concept with being a 60 million years old race created as a weapon for the War in Haven and survived as the winners due to both sides of the war taking each other out and are now on decline due to their own foolishness, also being a psychic race with deep knowledge about the warp and Chaos in a setting where such things is hazardous to even get close to. The problem is that they're GW least favorite child, so they never get to do anything interesting in the setting besides manipulating others from the shadows, if even that.
>>
>>749884857
>The reason he Horus lowered his shields is because both Guilliman and the Lion had massive Legions who didn't get as much damage during the war as all the others, the moment they got to Terra as reinforcements the war would be over
Horus realized he had 6 hours before gman and 150k ultramarines showed up to wipe the, at this point completely disorganized to the point of being just random warbands, away. Sure, horus himself would remain but consider the alternate scenario where emps doesn't take the bait, and then terra is wiped clean of traitor forces. And then russ and the lion were right behind him with another 50k marines, the siege was over.
If emps hadn't taken the bait I'd say the chaos gods would likely abandon horus and just let him bet dogpiled by the loyalists, since we see that when horus does lose with their full support it takes a great deal out of them.

More likely Horus would have bailed with whatever forces he could still take with him and retreat to the Eye of Terror. The Scouring would likely still have happened but the traitors would probably done a better job of escaping with an actual leadership calling the shots.
In this scenario the traitors would have made their own headquarters on the Eye of Terror and would launch a long war against the Imperium for the next 10k years, with Horus and the Emperor (having to stay on the Golden Throne) playing the long game against each other.
The fact that the Scouring wasn't the end of the traitors in the canon timeline is proof of how hardy they can be, since they had no reason to even try to survive that, any less succeed somehow.

The Necrons chose to retreat because they had no strength left after defeating the Old Ones and then the Ctan, meanwhile the Eldar and Krork were only getting stronger and more out of control. Not to say that it wasn't an Eldar win, but retreating instead of fighting until death was a sensible choice.

>have to pretend the bugs with bone swords and maggot bullets wouldn't get rolled hard every time they had to fight the 8 foot tall duded dressed in the equivalent to multiple inches of solid steel
Making every faction playable in your setting is always going to be a problem going forward when you aren't prepared to just shrug at the people who opted into playing the bugs when they inevitable get squished.
>>
>>749887293
oh come on some nids can kill custodes
>>
>>749887462
They have.
But I don't care how mono-mollecular your BONE swords are, or how deep your MAGGOT bullets burrow into flesh, when you use either of those against the 9 foot tall golden dude that might weigh as much as a small car, and is wearing what has the equivalent strength as 10 inches of solid steel, the bone will shatter and the maggots will just become smears.
Unless we're talking about a psychic tyrannid attack, unless the custodi got barreled over by a stampede of carnifexes, I'm calling it bullshit.
>>
>>749882525
Imperial agents are pretty much the inquisition, and friends as a playable army. They're okay but don't really have any dedicated anti vehicle units, which hurts them a bit.

>>749887737
i guess you're right but like they mass produce shit that rip dreadnauts apart

Primarch is a 1-off super unit who shows up at the end of the Campaign to curbstomp whatever the big threat is, probably some giant ass C'tan shard that gets unleashed. They said he was designed to be OP as hell and isn't meant for regular play.

They also said the game is PvE focused above all else. Some retard on 4chan saying otherwise and everyone just trusting them shows how much nu-chan just sucks up whatever ragebait they're fed.
>>
>>749887737
It's not just really sharp, those bone swords have a little guy in the hilt you can see if you look close enough that is a biological power field generator. That's why tyranid bone swords have the same stats as a power weapon on tabletop, because they are power weapons.
>>
>>749883483
this

also it gets incredibly boring once he just starts throwing daemonhosts at things, holy fucking snoozefest.
>>
>>749887984
Its not so much about trusting some random tard on the board, as much as it is every fucking new potential RTS from Iron Harvest to Stormgate and Tempest Rising all, despite having good single player campaigns, started to focus on competitive gookclick ladder shit and lost all their audience, when they could have spent more time on campaign , co-op, and other stuff.

>>
>>749887737
The idea that imperial gene crafting even sure t it's height produces better creatures on a biological level than the hive mind that has been collecting the best genes from the strongest species of multiple galaxies without the Custodes really needing to deviate from the human form is itself silly. The numbers don't really see up either since even if a tyranid warrior is only 10% of a space marine they probably outnumber him by a hundred.
Tyranids have killed Custodes before too since there was that born emissary that killed a Custodes gunship and kicked a Custodes head clean off when it wasn't even prioritising them
>>
>>749889397
what can kill the emissaries generally
