It is not unless you enjoy troubleshooting for the first 2 weeks and compiling your own audio drivers to fix problems and so on. Not to mention games having bugs that the developer doesn't understand and won't fix because they only happen on Linux through proton/wine.
>>749858779If you're on AMD then it's necessary because Windows AMD drivers are still trash. >>749883130allows it*
>>749883127>there should be a "just play" button that auto selects the best protonThere's no way to know what the "best Proton" is without the kind of user reporting that you're complaining about, because no single version is best for everything. Even if you pick the latest release of whatever fork best suits your use case, you'll probably see regressions. Also this isn't an issue with Linux itself except in that it's illegal for the Linux kernel to just contain a copy of Windows to eliminate the need for Wine.If you just want an OS that behaves like Windows, good news: there already is one.

>>749884967Let's be realistic anon. Out of the box KDE Plasma is the most complete experience that you can have without extra tinkering.
>>749881103genuinely why does kde have such dedicated schizos that save images of old bugs and pretend they are never fixed
>>749881171It's just some retard who keeps posting screenshots from literal dev builds. I wouldn't be surprised if he soon starts creating bugs by recompiling them with his own patches.
>>749885116Because steamos uses it and the pajeets and kikes are making up bullshit.

okok i use kde myself and i think it's genuinely good software and that anon is a retard but that plasma login manager bug is genuinely still there
I switched to linux and dug out my old ass mx crt. I NEED less. fellas is cinammon an ok desktop? I seem to have made the mistake of liking that kde one.All I do is make bad bitches in blender and play games.
>>749885945>you're a retard, but the thing you're talking about is true
>>749885948kde is good, so is cinnamon, i don't think it supports wayland yet so you might run into troubles there, i would just stick with kde and don't listen to retards on 4chan
>>749885948Abandon DE, embrace WM.
>>749886172TSMT!! Just compile a WM and never deal with faggot devs pushing broken updates for their jeetware with six million moving dependencies.
>>749886172Care to say why to embrace it? I just like to hear what people like about something when they recommend it.Yes your words matter to me
>>749886345Depends on your autism level.I would not recommend anything in particular because I don't know what you like. But you can try different distros without any commitment and try installing multiple window managers. It also depends if you want to stick with XOrg or Wayland. It will be a pain in the ass to use at first so be warned because you will have to use your keyboard all the time. Just hit the wiki and see if you are ready to spend hours fucking around.https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Window_managerThere are also pre-made configs or compiled binaries in case of DWM.
