For me it's Jedi Knight II.
>>
When I was a kid I got filtered by the confusing early level layout so I didn't like Outcast all that much. I loved Jedi Academy though, mainly because you got a lightsaber right at the start.

I think Outcast is the better game overall but Academy is just so easy to pick up and immediately start having fun with it. Lightsaber and force powers right out the gate, can max out the powers you want very quickly, missions are short and sweet and you can even skip a few if you don't feel up for it. Absolutely based game for replays.

I was too busy repeatedly beating the game with dismemberment on, all the force powers maxed out, and a lightsaber to care.
The endless multiplayer duels on FFA_Bespin and the shenanigans on the fun maps like the Country Roads and TMBJ maps, too.

It was nar shaddah for me, those thermal detonator guys always ruined my day.
>>
>>749874440
My PC could never run that when I was a kid...
>>
>>749875608
The first half of the game essentially being a subpar FPS is pretty bad yeah.

I love Jedi Academy because the console lets you do fun stuff like this

I fucking hate the joy this small thread gives me. The only times I truly felt I enjoyed some Disney wars was watching Maul, and even that pales in comparison to the memories of games I played as a kid.
Is there even any hope?

A man of taste. This game just feels great to play

>make first few levels without lightsaber
>good in concept, and they are actually well designed levels
>but don't let the player use any of the cool weapons from later that they won't bother with once they have a lightsaber
>also make shooting feel like absolute dogshit for no reason
>end up filtering new players for the next 25 years
What the fuck were they thinking?
Between being on the Quake 3 engine and Raven's last game (Star Trek Elite Force) having great feeling shooting it just seems so weird.

It's refreshing going back through it now and seeing just how little it held the player's hand
>>
>>749876506
i used to play the demo on an old ass notebook back in the day
found out you can spawn enemies in the pit in the demo starting area and just went to town with dismemberment

god that was fun
>>
>>749874440
I remember when the Jedi Academy demo came out and the last battle was against a sith acolyte but if you increased the difficulty it was against 2. Such a kino final fight I replayed it a billion times. They even had special behavior when you turned off your lightsaber they would do it too to mock you.

replaying both back to back and despite having this opinion as a kid now I have the opposite. academy is full of bullshit gimmick levels where you barely get to use your powers and most levels have way less enemies or thought out level design to instead be big empty walkways with 3 guys on them you wipe out instantly

it's hard to even argue that academy has better multiplayer when all it really ads are the dual/staff sabers which are way less interesting and way more spammy then the single saber with its multiple styles which literally everyone that was any good used online

both good but JO lets you do the same thing
It was fun spawning people in the Doomgiver's hangar and just cycling the airlock
>>
>>749879952
I really like the puzzles and exploration and whatnot, it's just the shooting genuinely feels awful.
>>
>>749878886
Did anyone manage to complete Jedi Academy on the light side path? I find it hard to believe anyone has the self control to not murder Rosh.
>>

idk i still really prefer jedi academy

Level design aside, I appreciate the first part of the game, I actually liked shooting slow as fuck guns with cool visual and sound effects.

Someone fi ally made a dynamic saber cutting mod for jedi survivor like metal gear rising and the last update removed denuvo a couple years ago. So I redownloaded it, get the dismemberment mod, get the cuts and sparks mod so the saber actually interacts with the environment, and now the game is fun. Only took like 3 years but we made it bros

Yeah, I did. As a kid, I had this weird thing where it felt bad to be bad so I was always "good" in games
well, even GTA felt visceral
in fable and jedi academy I felt like a piece of shit if I was bad, so I was good
Now being bad is cooler
>>
>>749874440
I remember playing this when I was 8 passing the controller around with a group of friends. We had no idea what was going on, were completely lost in the first level and made 0 progress, and were frustrated that we didn't have a lightsaber and yet I fondly remember fumbling around with it.

Master Skywalker, Ross is getting on my nerves, I'm fearing the worst, can you help me
>>
>>749880578
Yeah as annoying as Rosh was as a kid I had this weird thing about not wanting to disappoint people I liked and Kyle begging you not to give in made it impossible for me to want to hurt Rosh. Was years before I could do the dark side ending. Had the same problem with KOTOR, Carth's whiny ass kept guilting me into only doing lightside stuff.

Its wild that this would be the peak, we still had a decade before disney came in but they couldnt top this. Even the aussies tried with the boomerang lightsabers and they were laughed out of the room.
