The poker cards feel like they don't do much other than the one that gives an anchor attack or damage buff on dodge. You get more value out of the extra skill attacks than cards, but the skills are either pure dogshit or just OK and the ultimate skill is unusable as you don't get enough charge after getting it for the boss.

A lot of effort went into replicating 07th's style, if you had told me it was some doujin visual novel he made I would've believed it, save for the music and sound design which were hit or miss. The subtle sprite transitions, blurry and otherworldly backgrounds, even the autistic focus on chess metaphors during tangents like in Higurashi, Umineko or even Ciconia. It's all there, albeit overused. Up to reader it's charming or a ripoff.But the writing and plot feel unfocused, if not rushed. The English TL had a few spelling mistakes and other grammatical issues, I'll try reading it in French since it probably is the original language of the script, and where the book inspiration of this game came from. A bit strange considering they didn't translate "murder mystery" in the intro, making me assume English was the original language.Also minor and somewhat personal issue, but I'm sure the math teacher's name Matthias is used for males, not females. I can't fathom why they would decide to use this name for a woman character, especially since the name "Mathilde", common in France, would've conveyed the pun all the same.Spoilers specifically about the plot of the demo but what the fuck are the adults even doing lol. Estelle and Fabienne going into a supposedly burning building (and smoke didn't choke them lol) didn't even elicit one reaction or line of dialogue from them when they're supposed to monitor the situation. Same goes for the auditorium announcement, it's the kind of thing that should've required more presence from the adults imo. And on one hand Fabienne is favored by the principal which could partially explain her relative freedom but then we see she lives in a cramped basement room.
