SHEET STUFF ANCHOR
If you need something added or moved on the sheet, you can reply here to make sure it's seen. This includes new mixes, very important they aren't left behind! Also, there's a temp page on the sheet anyone can edit if you're unaware, you can put things there but if you do please reply here saying what you did!

Please be sure to give context, if you added something to temp but need it moved to final, say that so we don't have to double check!

I think we generally need to teach musical editing classes if we want toi get an "editor's boom" or get singfags to edit their own songs. There are tutorials. There's the copypasta. But a lot of people learn new things by doing them.
I'll fully admit I see the "We need more editors!" posts and be like "well how the fack do i do that?"

The reason album openers can't have song art is that Bandcamp didn't support it. We got Bannedcamp years ago, so there is really no reason we can't do it now except for tradition.
>>
>>750033702
If K still has the version of the song with her own vocals, would be cool to put it in the DLC with this cover. If nobody is against it, of course, and if you'll post the full size.

in theoryyy if we don't insist on the opening song having album art, then an album could be created with nothing but song art and nowhere to tag any album art
>>
>>750034078
Thanks, it's a genuinely great parody. Now it's up to K and the shadow cabal. Would be a waste not to use it in the DLC with the already existing alternative version, but I'm not the one to decide if we can bend the rules a bit.

I've got nothing interesting to bump the thread with. Has anybody ever made a /v/tm mod for a rhythm game?
>>
>>750037226
I mean, Rock Band 3 Deluxe is a ton of fun because with a program you can add YARG, Clone Hero, etc right into RPCS3. It's just reading a midi file and a chart so it works.

I've never tried to add /v/tm songs to it because I don't know how to chart, but doing that could be cool if people have the knowhow.

The Story of G.G. does not belong on the platforms album, it is not about a specific platform. It's either industry or board culture. The song is about how vacuous the "gamer" identity really is, hence the hook
>White gamer, Black gamer, fake gamer, real gamer...still gamer
The original song is the exact opposite; It's making the point that Black people should have solidarity because they can't escape their Black identity, regardless of their social standing, hence the joke at the beginning
>O.J. like, "I'm not Black I'm O.J."

The Story of G.G. is about how any self-interested political entity can hijack the gamer "identity" and claim themselves to be part of the culture, and astroturf like their perspective is THE perspective that represents the majority, whether they're a bunch of Stormfag /pol/yps OR concern troll browbeating feminists. The first verse is meant to distinguish the "real gamer" from the obvious astroturfer with an agenda
>MAGAtard, don't fuck with me...cause I'm only interested in video games and it's clear what your agenda is
>if you're so worried about muh woke, then buy the products that you want to see more of, and those products will get made, regardless of what some talking head feminist has to say about it, because that's how capitalism works
It goes on to express regret over the time wasted in having pointless "discussions" over muh culture war.
>I flamed every comment section, wish I could take it back to the beginning... cause I could've put to better use all that time I wasted (like by making a game that caters to my own tastes)

The second verse is simply an expression of what I consider to actually be important (gameplay, a fluid combat system, an interesting artstyle and/or story), and of course an expression of the frustration of listening to the nonsense that people blather on about regarding XYZ game. All of this is applicable to board culture, because this sort of MUH WOKE MUH CULTURE WAR has been going on here for like a decade.
>>
>>750038442
13 years of this. The anti-sjw wars have long since ended but the skirmishes continue.
>>
>>750030586
thanks, timed lyrics have been updated

since we're all here, do you wanna share the other vanilla tracks as well? i'm starting to want to remix and remaster decade old tracks by now so it really wouldn't hurt to have when we look back on this one in time for /v/tmXXX. i'm sure UVR will be flawless by then but it's not the same thing.

How'd I flub it?
>>
>>750041945
Good idea K
>>
>>750046626
It doesn’t rhyme, it’s a slant rhyme at best but the original is a perfect rhyme so it sounds jarring.
Also you could’ve said something more interesting like “Casuals like “I play games, I gacha!”… Gotcha”
Idk something smarter and with a better rhyme.
>>
>>750046626
Anon, listen to the original and the parody line back to back. It doesn't mirror the sounds. Those Os are supposed to the same sound, it's central glue of the song's premise.
>>
>>750046839
Eh, everyone's a critic. If you don't like it, I understand, but it is what it is. That line there would have nothing to do with the meaning of my song, and is therefore not more interesting, or smarter. But maybe you're right in saying that "change" and "okay" are slant rhymes, I'll give you that much.
>>
>>750046972
NTA but I wouldn't care about a slant rhyme as much except that it's in THE iconic line. If you can't do THE iconic line right, better not do the song at all until you can.
>>
Just make this entirely different sounds rhyme dude
>>
>>750047320

This is the problem with Renfags.
Unless they are godtier writers, they can still come in short and mess up parts of a song that someone could’ve pointed out if they were doing collaborative work like asking for feedback in lyrics beforehand.
And they are still too proud to admit they fucked up.
>>
>>750047854
I renfagged some songs this year and I wanted to ask for feedback but I felt saying anything would've been a bad idea at the time
>>
>>750047574
That's not a good thing. Sad fact is that the white people in this musical can't rap. There are white people who can, but not here.

>>750047327
>>750047574
Consider the following: "make" and "change" and "okay" are all assonant. Assonance is a very important aspect of hip hop, and writing in general. So for you to come at me like
>erm ackshually there's no agreement in the sounds being spoken
is just some ignorance, and it comes across as you trying to start some shit. If you're being genuine, then I appreciate your feedback, it's noted, but we're past the deadline and you can take it or leave it.
>>750047824
At least four, if you include 100% drop and Sunglasses On, maybe five if you include Going Into Games Machine
>>750047854
It ain't pride, I saw the push back against it at the time it was dropped, and I disregarded it because I didn't consider it to be meaningful feedback. I chalked it up to people trying to start shit. If you felt so powerfully about it, you could've covered the song yourself, there was no one stopping you. This is what death battles are for; or you could've written your own version and there'd be two on the spreadsheet. Instead, you insist on prodding me. Why?
>>
>>750047824
Is the other one the DLC gold digger one?
>>
Does this count as rap? I’d say it was pretty good.

https://youtu.be/L1QLfPH3Q2Y
>>
>>750047574
Yeah that one was fucked up too. You trick yourself into thinking it's good because we have no quality bar, but the song would have been vastly better if the creators weren't sniffing their own farts and insisting doing it wrong as a joke didn't ruin the way it sounds.
>>
>>750048107
Sure they're assonant. If the original lines had replied on assonance, I would have agreed, but they don't only sound assonant but are also a perfect rhyme. My feedback is genuine. Take it or leave it. Disregarding feedback as not meaningful is indeed part of pride.
>>
uh oh, the spergstorm is picking up

>>750048104
You can always do what I do and not say you're renfagging it. "Here are lyrics I'm working shopping" into "ok it's on the sheet thanks for the help" into "cool I'll sing this for sure I'll mark it on the sheet".
>>
>>750048364
>bloodhound gang
>rap
Not really, no.
>>750048401
>if the original lines had relied on assonance
1. Oh Jay and Okay are assonant, so don't be ignorant.
2. I can change what I want, it's my song, I am taking creative liberties, so what you propose is nonsense, this idea that I have to maintain the exact rhyme scheme. In fact, I don't. If you disagree, well, chalk that up to creative differences.
>>750048509
If I do that and you come at me with some stupid criticism, I am still within my right to disregard it, right?
>>
>>750048509
this is unironically the way, you get better feedback
t. renfagger
>>
>>750048107
People insist on prodding you because "just make an entire song parody you don't want to make" is too much effort to fix "this shithead fucked up a good song and it'll stay like that forever because they ignore feedback". I'm not a rapper, but that doesn't mean I don't know rap better than you if you think the hook of the song wasn't completely butchered in a way that defeats the point of picking that track to parody.
It's not the end of the world, we've butchered songs before, but it doesn't do rap any favors that when we touch it the thing ends up not respecting the original at all.
>>
>>750048107
>”Im not prideful”
>proceeds to make a pride-full paragraph

You’re saying it’s too late for feedback now, but also claim people pointed it out back then and you didn’t give a fuck, which to me sounds like you never wanna hear negative critique on the songs you do.
You fucked the iconic line, no matter how you try to reason it, this is how people responded to it back then and are now.
If you can’t reflect and reconsider maybe you could’ve made it better, you will never improve. And with something as dependent of rhymes and sounds like Rap, you’re gonna keep fucking up songs if this is the genre you wanna do.
>>
>>750048637
>I can change what I want, it's my song, I am taking creative liberties, so what you propose is nonsense, this idea that I have to maintain the exact rhyme scheme. In fact, I don't. If you disagree, well, chalk that up to creative differences.
Yeah sure and don't be surprised when people who like the original song do in fact take issue with the creative liberties. We're writing parodies, not original works. You can stop replying to me stating my opinions and philosophy on song writing any time, you know, but it is absolutely pride that prevents you from acknowledging that it would be better to maintain the original rhyme scheme. It's okay to admit that you didn't have the writing chops to make it as good of a parody as it could be.
>>
>>750048637
>I can change what I want, it's my song, I am taking creative liberties,
Yeah, and just like if someone removed every rhyme from a song, we're gonna pity the song when you use this attitude to fuck it up. Creative liberties are awesome when they improve a song, but "hmmm I don't want to keep the rhymes of the original" isn't creative liberties, it's laziness that cripples the point of doing music instead of anything else.
>>
>>750048637
>it’s my song
It’s OUR song, wigga. When you fuck shit up, you fuck shit up for all of us. So yes we will critique it. If you can’t handle critique then just keep it to yourself.

Maybe while the polls and timings are concluding and organization is ongoing in the background while everyone else waits for streams, people can reflect upon or tell their tales of notable songs they wrote in the past and shed light on or spurn discussion for them or more and just in general allow for a bigger view into the musical and it's participants.
>>
>>750049741
My favorite genre of /v/TM is songs written in universe, like "songs that could have been written by the game characters", like the Not Like Us Pokémon parody or blue off the chains.

>maybe next thread we could have an anchor at the top for musical anecdotes or something
That'd be fun. I want to hear the stories and explanations too. Let's let this thread play out for the next day or so while some final steps are still in progress and then when we're all just chilling waiting for the stream, we can put that anchor in the next thread.
>>
>>750049741
It's something I mentioned when I submitted it over a month ago, but I wrote "Ankha oh Ankha" this year because when the 3.0 New Horizons update rolled out, I had to play it again for that, and Ankha landing on my island just genuinely was a blessing and a curse. I love Ankha as a design and villager, but I can't not think of the porn for her any time she shows up. I'm just kind of porn-brained in general but Zone was pretty foundational for me so I especially couldn't ignore that. I love how the song turned out too.
>>
>>750050168
because the rule is that you're supposed to only work on songs during the musical, i.e. sept 15th - oct. 15th so if you write something outside of that (and you leave a papertrail) you're gonna get disqualified, and well, if you talk about your idea now, someone could reasonably say
>hey remember that comment from a year ago when someone detailed their entire song without actually dropping it?
>>
>>750050168
They're shitposting, songs don't get DQ'd just because they suck.
>>
>>750050373
It's frustrating this rule only gets trotted out specifically to kill songs someone doesn't like, like wokieflop. It's legal, just annoying.
>>
>>750050168
The anchors are for organizing, you can just talk about your anecdotes whenever you want and they really don't need one past someone asking the question and getting answers as replies.

I feel like most of my songs have boring origins because it's just connecting a good topic to the original, the most you get there is that I always really like either the topic or the original song, usually both. The only really funny anecdote this year was seeing people run with "Asgore The Flower Whore". The origin of that is nothing too special, I just love the comedy around Asgore as a dude, the memes about him running over Dess are hilarious for example. He was central to the new chapter so I thought using him for a song this year would make sense, and only cut it because everything I tried came out too memey and had better fits for other topics and deltarune got flooded in the first few days by other people. But a shitpost like this song is great when people actually like it as opposed to being something 1 guy found funny, so I'm glad I chose to use some actual examples when someone asked me how I spent so long writing a song as short as the Jill Val one.
>>
>>750050667
well, as long as you keep it to yourself, nobody's going to know. I bet all the big namefags are already working on their next batch of lyrics as we speak. if they're not, then I wouldn't be surprised to find that someone is. it's just how things go. in order for the rule to take effect you have to prove that it was violated, so just don't talk about it, not only here but pretty much everyone online. it has to stay dark.
>>
>>750050365
Lol that's funny, it's the first time I've heard the song with vocals. It's a funny idea, love the execution. a minus8 mention would've sealed the deal

You're misunderstanding me. I'm saying that someone tracked down that wokieflop was written outside the musical, and raising my opinion it was done because someone didn't like antiwoke drek and wanted it killed. Can't prove it, but we're not in court, ig uess.

>>
>>750052661

What the fuck is “a good opener”? The song that opens has to be a song about the topic of the art? That’s not necessarily true. It can be about anything.
We had a Princess Peach Mario Kart art before and guess what, the opener was NOT a Mario/Peach song.
>>
>>750053237
"collaboration" can mean a lot of different things, you know. like, one nigga writes a song, another performs it, and another edits it. but what is the role of the individual? to do something, you can't expect people to do all the work for you. you have to put in some effort. it's one thing to say
>hey, here's an idea for a song
and leave it at that, it's quite another to say
>hey, here's the idea for a song, here are the lyrics I wrote, and here's a demo
and it's yet another thing to say
>here's an idea for a song, here's the lyrics, and here's a finished take
all of that is still collaboration, but the ideafag is going to get the least amount of engagement. at least the "renfag" is contributing something meaningful, i.e. a finished product. not to say ideas themselves aren't meaningful, but just like feedback, people can take them or leave them.

I don't take it the wrong way, i get what you mean. I'm unlikely to though, I write way too much already without a handful of my other ideas also ending up getting done. Genuinely I had like 40 ideas for that song alone before I actually settled on one that worked, most of them were much worse. We really don't lack ideas, that one in particular was a special case of the regular version got finished already, the song being so short meant it was easy enough to do it again late, and it being so dumb that it was funny even though it doesn't really make sense so it doesn't conflict with the other more straightforward one too hard.

Enough people write goofy songs like that, I like writing songs that don't give me an icky "I should have done that properly" feeling. If I told people about the idea earlier then it's possible the Jill one wouldn't have been finished. For most longer songs I hate the idea that someone might not sing a good song we've never done before to just do another version of a song I already wrote just because I "inspired" them not to come up with something new instead. It worked out this time but I would have been very sad if for example the anon that sang Rides Down The Highway instead decided to do a worse idea I had for the Ripped My Pants song. I like the variety of different songs with ideas written by people other than me.

>How many of your songs were sung this year?
The left of this image are ones that got sung, but keep in mind I sang some myself when they weren't sung and I could handle them. I should also say this is the most I've done by far, in 2023 for example I was busy with work and so I had a total of 5 songs that year. Part of why I have so many now is just having that backlog of ideas to draw from, and partly that I got better over time at bringing ideas to a state where I felt proud enough to post it. the 9/14 date songs are ones I reposted from last year, I always replace the links in them as needed during the hype threads
The right are the ones that weren't done, 3 I think are worth another shot and 1 is trash because I wrote it last year and I don't think it's deserving of a 3rd chance, it's rare anything could be imo.

>What format do you use to write your songs? Do you always keep the original lyrics in view?
I start by listening to the song and trying to recognize the parts that need to be kept, like slant rhymes, mid-line rhymes, sounds that aren't rhymes but are super pleasing, ect. I have the original lyrics on hand when I do this, so I typically know the original lyrics well before I fully "start writing".

Then I just lay out a text file with the full original lyrics, split view with the original song on youtube, and then start writing. I listen back to the specific lines I'm currently writing on repeat while considering the roles they have in the original song and if there's a way to mirror that in the new song, but that doesn't always work out and sometimes it just becomes a new story or new concept for the line entirely. I just write my line's text after the original line's text when I get an idea, and sing it along to the original by itself to see if it feels good. When I get a section (usually a full verse/chorus) to a point I'm proud of, I just delete the original lines there so it's just my lines, and in the rare cases I change my mind that's what ctrl+z or referencing the full original lyrics again is for.

When I've fully replaced the whole lyric set, I give it a bit of thought on "is there anything I should have referenced for this song that I didn't, can I still work that in somewhere" sorta stuff. When I'm satisfied enough, I sing the song start to finish at least like 2 or 3 times myself to make sure it actually works, and usually I can catch 1 or 2 spots worth improving when I do this. I only post it to the thread if it makes it through this process and nothing bothers me about it enough to give it more passes. There are sillier or weirder songs I'm less picky on like the Game and Watch one, but if I really care about a song and I have the time, it might go through many rewrites at this stage.

That's funny because as the autistic splitview guy I also sometimes write on my phone, it's really fucking inconvenient to write on a phone if I have to switch apps so I do split view or sometimes just picture in picture with the youtube video (but this is annoying because I like to rewind and relisten to whatever section I am on repeatedly). Android adding the option to split any apps a few years ago was fantastic for my productivity, I just put the youtube video on top and the lyrics on the bottom with a bit more than half the space.

>>750058938
Also if you want another tip, keeping a strong reference point is ideal if the song is a specific reference and not just like a janny or shitposting song. I also had the Game And Watch meme screenshot splitviewed under youtube when I originally wrote that song, specifically because it's 1 image that basically provides all the joke starters you could have ever wanted for writing on that topic. I managed to write it relatively quickly and put references in just about every single line, because I could look at the meme as I wrote. Just about every line I went through a thought process like "you know what, the section where the singers give a retrospective view instead of first person view near the end could be really funny if I twist that to say he killed himself, is there a good specific bit I can connect to a suicide joke there so it's not generic.... oh fuck, there's a line where he says he only has 1 chair, I can fucking work with this". Rinse and repeat that sort of thing for every line, a specific reference is almost always more fun than just writing a really basic line imo.

yeah you'll say that every year forever, as time goes on we will only have more songs to cover. even at 200 songs done a year, we're missing out on thousands that come out each year. 10 years from now someone might be saying "wtf they never did that" about a song that came out this year.
>>
>>750058938
I can usually hear it in my head pretty well if I've decided to write something. So my pre-writing/inspiration process is listening through a few times and jotting down the main line changes, then copying the full lyrics to work off of, putting those initial line ideas in and filling out the rest off the memory of the song. Listening again maybe here and there while reading what I've got. The main change I start with tends to be the hook of the song, I believe. If you get a solid parody line of the hook the rest can fill in pretty easy.

I did not write, but "he fucked miss piggy" is the prefect example of a great hook replacement, ideally you come up with a line like that and the rest basically writes itself. At least for my stuff.

I have no idea, but that in itself is a problem. AI slop is invading from all sides, and while I don't think it's all awful (I do like them warhammer parodies), obviously we can't use any of it.

>>
>>750059324
>this year we only had 29 of our songs come from this decade. According to ChatGPT
a lot of songs come from nostalgia, in musical XXV the old zoomers will be writing songs using the cartoons they grew up on or the songs they heard on the radio as kids. parodies of older songs just work cleanly, and songs age over time so it's no worry.
>>
>>750056968

When I'm writing, it usually depends on how familiar I am with the song. If It's something I (think) I know well, I just start writing it. I can HEAR the original singer singing my lyrics in my head. That's led to some mistakes with songs so I don't recommend it without doublechecking.
I usually listen to a song more than I look at lyrics, only because even if a song is in English, different English speakers will pronounce it differently. it sounds stupid, but to me it's more important that the lyrics match up with the song more than the lyrics. Having the lyrics side by side doesn't help you focus on what parts of the song are important to stress on for the singer, I had to re-listen to Computer Guy over and over to get the lyrics right, and even then I still needed someone to point out one of the lines had been messed up. Lyrics are fine, but we're doing songs, not poetry. A good parody (in my opinion) shouldn't focus on the syllables as much as it should focus on the flow of the song.

>I did not write, but "he fucked miss piggy" is the prefect example of a great hook replacement, ideally you come up with a line like that and the rest basically writes itself. At least for my stuff.
Strongly agree, you really NEED the hook to work. putting effort into the rest after helps too, but if you start with a shitty hook the song is doomed from the start. Just think about the radio hits, people don't even know the lyrics to half of them, they just need that 1 part where they can go "Op, Op, Op... Oppa Gangnam Style!" and if it's super catchy and sticks in your head, then it's a mega hit.
>>
>>750060290

>A good parody (in my opinion) shouldn't focus on the syllables as much as it should focus on the flow of the song.
this is a good point cause when singing I'll come across lines that are perfect in syllables but the stress of a word will be in an unnatural spot. I can just swap some words around to fix it for myself, but keeping that in mind while writing is good advice.
>>
>>750060603
I don't see how that change is butchering the hook. Granted I'm not a big fan of rap but I was familiar with the original and the hook in X Givin Timmies To Ya doesn't sound meaningfully different to me. The stress is still on the same spots.
>>
>>750060478
>I still don't get how changing 𝅘𝅥𝅮 𝅘𝅥𝅮 𝅘𝅥𝅯𝅘𝅥𝅯𝅘𝅥𝅯𝅘𝅥𝅯 to 𝅘𝅥𝅮 𝅘𝅥𝅯𝅘𝅥𝅯𝅘𝅥𝅯𝅘𝅥𝅯𝅘𝅥𝅯𝅘𝅥𝅯 is such a big issue.
Do you understand what a parody is? The core benefit of one is that you don't have to make your own 𝅘𝅥𝅮 𝅘𝅥𝅮 𝅘𝅥𝅯𝅘𝅥𝅯𝅘𝅥𝅯𝅘𝅥𝅯, the hard part was done for you, you are handed a free 𝅘𝅥𝅮 𝅘𝅥𝅮 𝅘𝅥𝅯𝅘𝅥𝅯𝅘𝅥𝅯𝅘𝅥𝅯 that people fucking love already. Why the fuck would you waste that by throwing away the 1 thing the song is known for?

If you're going to have no respect for the original song, just write your own original rap and put it over an original beat that matches that. Don't fuck over a legendary song forever by taking the slot for something that doesn't even care enough to keep the 1 thing the song is famous for, if the original went 𝅘𝅥𝅮 𝅘𝅥𝅯𝅘𝅥𝅯𝅘𝅥𝅯𝅘𝅥𝅯𝅘𝅥𝅯𝅘𝅥𝅯 we probably wouldn't have given enough of a shit about it to even parody it because it sounds so much worse than the original.

>DMX does it occasionally in the original, like "X gon' deliver to ya".
Yes, and the parody should have kept the flow of the original by having matching this specific part on top of matching the main part.
>>
>>750060678
Syllable and stresses are different, but they are not one or the other. You should match both. This is kinda like saying you don't need food because water is important, you need both bro.
>>
>>750060546

YOU'RE cringe.

>>750060660
I do consult the original lines, I both listen to the parts of the song over and over AND look at the lyrics. I follow along with the singing while moving my mouse over the written lyrics the same way those sing-along lyrics do. I'm not saying to disregard the lyrics entirely, but to focus more on the singing rather than looking at the lyrics and matching the syllable count for the sentence and calling it a day.

>>750060678
It's really hard to get it 100% sometimes, but when it works, it really works. It helps a lot to sing it yourself as a writer, even if you can't sing for shit (like me)
>>
>>750060887
>it sounds so much worse than the original.
But it doesn't tho? I don't get this criticism at all.
>>
>>750060478
it's not, there are a couple of naysayers who kept claiming it wouldn't possibly work because they couldn't count the syllables properly back when it was being written. They've been eternally BTFO ever since the song actually got sung, as evidence by the seething replies years later kek
>>
>>750060478
I have said this before and will say this again
But you could absolutely pronounce "giving" as a one-syllable "gi'in" which would maintain the flow and be perfectly understandable to a listener.
>>
>>750060478
>>750060767
don't worry about it, it's not that big of an issue. people forget we're here making tracks for fun, meanwhile the syllable police out here want you to be afraid to ever post something ever again. lyricism is more art than science, even if I also agree that certain fundamentals need to be taken into consideration, like stress, cadence, syllable count, rhyme scheme, etc.
>>
>>750060981
yeah the point is if you get too caught up on syllables you can forget flow. of course both is best, but I would say flow > syllables, even if just slightly. which fits with flow being water and food as syllable lol
>>
I can't believe that anons are actually bragging that they don't have enough rhythm to tell the difference between the parody and Timmies.
>>
>Don't fuck over a legendary song forever
but I gotta, that's why I'm here
>>
>>750061015
I'm sorry that you don't understand it but it's true, music as a concept exists because different sounds have different levels of appeal. X Gon Give It To Ya is legendary, it got parodied specifically because it's at that level of respect and love, your random slop thrown together will never match it even if you don't understand why.

It doesn't work. Did you expect god to smite the song or something if it was bad? A bad song just stays bad, it doesn't end up good just because it was sung.

People point at it because it's the closest a writefag gets to something like Porn On Steam. The real difference is that it's not funny to laugh at a messed up hook the way it is to laugh at weird vocals. It's unironically one of the saddest songs I think we've ever done because there's just no merit to killing off the song like that.
>>
>>750061059
Or just "gives", which was also suggested. the writefag and singfag just wanted to screw the song over to spite people for daring to criticize it, it doesn't really get more complex that that.

It's ok to just admit to yourself that you don't know what you're talking about and aren't fit for the conversation. Just because you can't understand something doesn't mean it does not exist. There's a reason why only some songs become hits and others don't, whether you can understand it or not different sounds can be more or less appealing. Taking one of the songs super well known specifically for the hook and then removing the hook is literally never going to improve it and always going to be a waste of using that song.
>>
>>750062867

I think changing the syllable count of a song when doing a parody is fine if it still flows well and/or for comedic effect. Weird Al does it
>>
>>750063031
anon, your best argument is that the entire song is ruined because there's a single syllable out of place. that's a dogshit argument and you should feel bad, because anyone with a shred of good faith could try to overlook something so small and try to see the song's strengths. it's a funny song, and also, I do agree with you, the syllables are off. nobody cares.

>>
>>750061814

>>
>>750063132
This isn't a brave take, it's just missing the obvious asterisk. You need to know what you're doing to mess with a song, it's not something you can do just because you're too lazy to write it the right way. It's genuinely harder to change the syllable account and have it work than it is to just write it correctly.

Weird Al messes with syllables (very rarely) with specific intent and purpose. He does not take a song known specifically for the hook and then butcher that hook. When he does mess with syllables, it is always for a joke, never "I just don't feel like matching the original".
>>
>>750063374

>>
>>750063132
The important difference is that he doesn't have to pass his syllable counts on to another singer who has to interpret how that is sung.
Changing syllable counts is fine, but it's important to make sure that when your stretch a syllable or speed one up, you make it clear to the singer how that portion is supposed to be sung.
That's why keeping the syllable count the same is standard practice, because most people are unwilling to record a demo.
>>
>>750063538
>Maybe not but I don't think adding or removing a syllable from a line is inherently a bad thing
it's inherently a bad thing when the reason the song is popular is the way that exact line flows, aka it is the hook of the song. I don't even agree with you on that Amish Paradise take, it flows the same way due to how he said it.

There are always little bits of drama but never huge amounts. Other guy was right that Wokes Go To Gamedev was up there but that was just
>bad lyrics posted
>people laughed at them
>got sung
>nobody really cared because it was mid at best
it didn't even really even get people shitting on it after it got sung, because unlike the X song it's not offensively wrong in what it did, it's just sorta dull and boring so it got forgotten.

Was there any real drama this year? Not the wokieflop thing, that was never a sung by one of us for with drama from us, it was a raid from another thread. The little stuff like the snacks thing will be entirely forgotten by next year, and the roco thing is more just a sideshow attraction to gawk at than drama imo. I guess you could say Jebus trying to cheat in a song was drama? but that was found, mocked, and then moved on from relatively quickly.

My vote was primarily because of the scat yes. we should have another poll if the default is going against the poll results. I tried compromising days ago and said I would be fine if it was just lowered in volume, but it's still so fucking loud that it's way louder than the instrumental or any of the singing in the song, so the more I hear it the more I just want it gone and the one we actually voted for on the album.

I really wish that triggered snowflakes didn't assume that why criticism against any "fuck libfaggots" songs was from libfaggots. I want antiwoke songs and I want them to be good and not the same "uhh TRANNIES amirite" generic bullshit.

I don't want a shitposty addition by someone that isn't even the singfag to a song with serious lyrics and good singing for the rest of the track. Why did we fucking poll it if you were going to force bullshit either way?

Uhhh they might be in the same album but it’s not 100% that there’ll be one after the other. In fact, we try to spread out topics instead of piling them all together.

>>
>>750065354
It ruins the music, it's obnoxiously loud and grating and you literally can't hear the actual music under it in the one currently on the sheet. it's possible to add shitposty additions that don't do that. I don't even think it's a song that should have shitposty additions, it's incredibly ill-fitting for the topic of the song (getting old and watching stuff go to shit). the scatting shit works for silly little cute songs, it's antithetical to the message of the song we're talking about for upbeat scat to play in between lines about losing your hair and seeing things get worse all the time.
>>
>>750065552
You make fun of trannies in new and inventive ways instead of the joke just being that troons exist. That's my whole point. I'm not telling you to stop making fun of trannies but to stop having such generic lyrics. Like take Confrontation. The first version was generic anti AI lyrics but when the anon got feedback he made more actual jokes.
>>
>>750065552
You get creative and tell actual jokes and complain about the things that are done wrong rather than the people themselves.

Have we EVER done a song making fun of the "This is why I hate video games, it appeals to the male fantasy" girl? Do that instead of "haha trannies exist" as if that's a unique joke.

DS or Groove

DS or GBA original i'd say. wagglan controls didn't do the game any favors.

>>750067594
Because I replied to a post that asked if we already did this with an example confirming it has been done.
>>
>>750067558
Whatever hardware you have.
If you have a DS get the DS one, if you have a Wii get the Wii one, if you have a 3DS get the 3DS one, if you have a Switch get the Switch one.
Emulating is kinda finicky with this game because input has to perfect.
I think the GBA one is a good one to emulate tho.
>>
>>750067558
Depends on your taste
Megamix has an actual story, which is unique to it. Also it has the most unique rhythm games
DS is good but has a lot of stylus jank, and it's a bit of a chore on emulators because of this.
Fever is the general "baby's first Rhythm Heaven" and for my taste, the Wiimote controls are the most intuitive and easy to use
Groove is almost a reboot in the sense that all of its rhythm games outside of the multiplayer are entirely new, and it has some interesting side-game stuff
Never played the GBA one so I don't have a frame of reference.
>>
>>750067704
I’ll add that you SHOULD play GBA, DS and Wii before you play the 3DS one to fully enjoy the 3DS one.

>>750069021
assuming they're not embedded in the music file itself, as long as they're in the same folder (or maybe it works in a folder within that folder) musicbee will recognize them based on the same filename (and compiler matches the filenames for you)

download the mp3 or flac from last year, flac just makes sense for the quality, and if it doesn't pull the lyrics automatically then put the .lrcs into the folders with the songs and see if it pulls them now (it should)

(for clarification not-old-streamer here)
Yes and no and I know that's a real fucking annoying thing to hear. So I'll just be honest:
I want to try and improve on some things on the twitch side, the organizational side and the setup-of-this-nonsense side.
I love the musical so I also want to try and make sure this doesn't have so many hiccups. But also because I love the musical, I see how bad of a system we have here for this and I want to make it a bit more futureproof.
BUTTTttt:
I'm a bit busy, but I can do it. I've already started planning around it.
I have a fear of fucking this up.
It's a fuckton of work, I don't know how much people realize it but the whole adding gifs to the stream thing? Yeah that is like actually a lot. It's 14-16 hours long as well and that's a pretty big investment time/effortwise.

I've wanted to try and make some of the OBS improvements for years but put it off because it happens at the end of the musical and it's a bit weird to be like "ERM ACKSHUALLY, can I talk to you about your OBS settings?"

I guess it depends on what those improvements are. Sometimes better is worse when you're talking about tradition. But when it's this vague I don't know what you mean.

>It's a fuckton of work, I don't know how much people realize it but the whole adding gifs to the stream thing? Yeah that is like actually a lot.
Agree there. When I had a turn running the stream a few years ago the gifs stuff was a lot, and I pre-planned a lot of it in advance with sources I could toggle on and off and then add thread gifs as it went on. And yeah the time commitment overall is a big thing.

>I have a fear of fucking this up.

Yeah I was worried when I did one as well. It had rough bits but people were mostly forgiving on that. The main thing I took away after I did 1 stream was that if I did it again, I'd get it a little closer to the books next time. I didn't stray far but I made some little changes that didn't really need to be made. People like the way things were normally, so do I. Not sure if that applies to your sort of changes at all though, if it's like "the stream can be higher bitrate without messing with slow internet guys!" then obviously yeah that's awesome.

>I've wanted to try and make some of the OBS improvements for years but put it off because it happens at the end of the musical and it's a bit weird to be like "ERM ACKSHUALLY, can I talk to you about your OBS settings?"
Wouldn't hurt to explain what you mean there, even if you didn't do the stream this year it could help. If I ever did the stream again I'd be able to at least consider whatever you're referring to.
>>
>the gifs stuff was a lot
ummm?? just add elaine
>>
>>750073101
no no you need to tilt her at just the right angle and speed her up to thrash at maximum capacity without the fps getting too high and making her look static, it's a lot. elaine is high maintenance.
>>
>>750072851
Here's an example, I want to protect certain parts of the screen so I've done some OBS source magic to do that. I thought it might be a bit too strict so I am playing around with some opacity for it as well.
I'm trying to refine some of the background settings, yes bitrate but also stuff like changing some things (that are basically invisible to the viewer) so that we can get a native recording of the stream, with chat, without getting banned.
I'm trying to setup some stuff so that one person doesn't have to add the gifs and the load can be shared.
Some of the more organizational stuff I am going to leave vague but ultimately: I do not like how reliant this part is on like, one or two people. That is dangerous so I'm taking some steps so that if all of the current streamfags died, someone could pick up the mantle fairly easily, probably less than a day (assuming all the other shit is ready ofc).
Next year I'd look at changing more things, but ultimately my goal is that a lot of changes are mostly invisible to the viewer or are stuff that I can iterate on. Like next year I wanna try a different player, musicbee is actually fucking annoying. I'd like one that is a bit more flexible Even if that means I have to get it made myself.

>I thought it might be a bit too strict so I am playing around with some opacity for it as well.
I worry it might not be strict enough if users are adding gifs. the stream needs readable lyrics. sure in the video it works, but how well will it hold up to the bitrate of twitch live if a bunch of gifs are under the text? Even with gifs just near it sometimes it crumbles live.
>I'm trying to refine some of the background settings, yes bitrate but also stuff like changing some things (that are basically invisible to the viewer) so that we can get a native recording of the stream, with chat, without getting banned.
that's kino, especially if it can bypass bitrate issues so that the VOD won't be bitcrushed (even if there's charm to seeing it as the viewer would 1:1).
>I'm trying to setup some stuff so that one person doesn't have to add the gifs and the load can be shared.
if you mean a few people with a role for that somehow I'd gladly help as the dude that did all the gifs 2 years ago. if it's an extension anyone can use without very strict limits, I worry about people focusing on playing with the gifs so hard that they ignore the songs being played. we already get situations where if a song has to be restarted, it might be all the chat discusses the whole length of the song. I don't want to see the drama of someone posting deltarune gifs and then someone else spamming anti-tranny gifs over them, and someone putting a strobe gif over the lyrics where even just for a little bit until it gets culled that's annoying.
>I do not like how reliant this part is on like, one or two people.
Yeah same. Part of why I wanted to stream myself 2 years ago is that I know I can rely on myself and now I'm at least always a backup option as long as I'm breathing. It'd be good to have some easier way to get people on-boarded for this, that's why I like sharing my .xml, it took me a lot longer than people would probably guess to get that "right".
>>
>>750075362
>if you mean a few people with a role for that somehow I'd gladly help as the dude that did all the gifs 2 years ago.
It would not be open to everyone, I had actually played around with that idea but I just realized it's a bit naive. It's too easy for what you described, or for one person to get it banned, etc.
>I worry it might not be strict enough if users are adding gifs.
Yeah it's super easily modifiable on my end, and I also have some more knobs I could turn that I haven't really been playing with yet if I'm KINDA waiting to see if I'm even doing this based on what people say kek.
>that's kino, especially if it can bypass bitrate issues so that the VOD won't be bitcrushed (even if there's charm to seeing it as the viewer would 1:1).
The native recording is whatever I set it to, it can even be higher than we have on Twitch. Do note that it is still subject to whatever it is uploaded to, so Youtube still has to deal with whatever we put on it. But obviously downloads of it should be basically pure and clean.
>>
>>750075628
>I'm KINDA waiting to see if I'm even doing this based on what people say kek.
I think your ideas for the most part, they sound worth trying out at least. If you're the guy that said you normally stream all the time anyway I figure it can't go too wrong, I was rough as hell in spots and people understood it was a learning process. The short video you posted a bit ago already "looks" like the stream so if it has the gifs and someone to babysit it live and listen to the chat if shit gets fucked up somehow, then it's golden imo. Not sure how many more people will speak up, these post-poll days are always kinda just dead. I think most people will be grateful for anyone that streams it, whether it's you or the other guy.
>Youtube still has to deal with whatever we put on it
oh yeah of course, I just imagine Youtube's version of a native recording is bound to look much cleaner than that shit being streamed live and recorded through screen capture by a viewer.

ALRIGHT YOU FAGGOTS!
We need to decide which album comes first in the musical. Going off the poll winners gives us 3 competing results (Ban won album art so we could open with I, Shitposter, but This Website Is (Almost Kill) got more votes so we could open with that, but Friendslop Titles got more votes than both so we could open with Friendslop) so the seemingly best way is to run an opener poll.

This will only decide the opening song, so coming in 2nd here has no influence on where that song goes in the albums.

The options are linked here, please listen before voting:
https://gofile.io/d/vOMydhmP
And vote here:
https://strawpoll.com/05Zdz2qxVn6

We're not opening with Industry or Platforms, therefore those are abscent from the poll. And it seems thread consensus is that The Middle (of the Grind) is our 5th vidya opener and should open the middle album, so that's not here either.
>>

>Export your scene in OBS, and let me do some changes :)
oh lmao I don't stream regularly and this isn't the same computer I had for the last stream. my OBS isn't set up nearly at all right now, I just pointed practically default settings to musicbee for video and audio and linked it to twitch and was gonna figure out the rest this week if I had to set up. If you do stream though, sharing whatever you end up setting up somehow would be a blessing, I'd make sure to keep it available in the future like the .xml.
>I also really tried to turn off twitch's global automod so we could at least type fag/faggot but it's baked in a bit too hard :/
yeah this has been a thing for a while but at least it's nice that if someone does pop their head in they're less likely to see a good reason to nuke us instantly. just depends on how rude the song is.

that one isn't me, the guy who does it literally just records his screen iirc. all I did was stream once a few years ago, the recorder is different and the VOD uploader is yet another different person. we usually coordinate that shit in the discord to not clutter the thread, but hopefully he'll see this here soon enough anyway if it's something he cares about.

I laugh at the idea that some people have never heard of voice acting or falsetto. the guy is good at it, I'll give him that, I couldn't handle that song that way.

if I feel like it, tomorrow I might make a template for stream recordan.

But it doesn't sound like falsetto, it sounds like musefemanon.

I would've loved a multi-anon chorus, but I said I wouldn't shill my stuff so I didn't. I had to make two project files for Age-Verified, one for the song and one for the chorus: this is from the latter.
>>
>>750079237
yeah, she had a feminine voice but it also had some deepness to it, so I can kinda see that. the new guy is great with voices but he has a very slight accent I notice when timing some stuff.
>>750079370
I didn't run that poll but whoever did can hopefully check the data on it, it's not too surprising for a new poll to have votes trickle in but ideally there's something they can notice if it's off like it always being a counter-vote.
>>
>>750079504
That's kinda why I spoke up, just in case the pollrunner noticed anything odd

Remember to vote! if Sex with White Korra wins, the version currently on the sheet gets in because clearly people don't care enough to change the file

lmao
>>
>>750079976
I can't change my vote and I accidentally clicked Sex with Korra.
>>
>>750079976
yeah that makes sense, if people would rather make a joke than actually vote in the poll then we should go out of the way to fuck over the people that did actually care.
>>
>>750079976
very convenient that you waited until the joke option got plenty of votes to announce that. especially on a poll where you can't multi-vote and can't change your vote. you should just admit you don't care what people think and want the version that sucks to listen to on the album even if the poll doesn't go your way.
>>
>>750079976
yeah what the fuck man, I would at least un-vote for the joke option if you're counting that against real votes

Something I noticed while re-checking the video playlist and re-watching the streams
I don't think anyone ever uploaded the video for "As The Stars Burn Oout"
The video exists, I saved the mp4 when Anon originally posted it to a google drive, I believe? But no one ever actually uploaded it to youtube. Curious if the one who made the video just didn't want it uploaded for some reason, or if there was another reason what.

Looks like we are back

I added these timings which were missing:
>A Kid in Kamurocho
>He Has Wam
>Don't Declare War
>Heated Gamer Moment
>(Game Ain't) Easy
>Group of 5

And repaired two others which were missing a [00:00.00]:
>Spamming the Guns
>Staring Past the Edge

I ran a script against all the links, and every rentry link has a [00:00.00] now (or equivalent), meaning as of now all timings should be good to go. Whoever is doing the google drive links seems to have done it fine, all the ones I looked at checked out. Some of the rentry links have different formats (such as [0:00.000]) or have a first line with two colons ([00:00:00]) but my guess is musicbee handles those fine so it shouldn't be an issue. It's not trivial to check with a script whether the lyrics actually belong to the song, I was only able to check formatting and for duplicate links, so at the very least every song has a unique rentry link that is formatted.

Also I made a new edit of Too Gay To Play at the request of the comment on the sheet, using the stems posted by some anon in the thread. Let me know if it's better https://gofile.io/d/M2ZF4BOI

They are two completely different genres, it didn’t flow well sadly, their new spots flows a lot better with the songs surrounding them.
>>
>>750082067
whoever is ready should stream, it's that simple. it doesn't matter who it is as long as they do what they gotta do.

There's definitely been some rigging with the polls, both of the green bumps happened at the same time. I think First Run leads even disregarding the rigging, I know for a fact two of those votes were legit (and there's still an hour left before voting closes).
As for the scat vote, I have no idea how to interpret the result so here's the CSV: https://gofile.io/d/Ago8LFxm

>>
>>750082563
Yeah, as I said there's definitely been rigging. But at least two of those votes were legit so it's not all rigging. I'll leave the poll running for another hour or two and then post the csv.

In my autistic opinion the editor/main singer should be deciding here because no matter what it looks like barely anybody seriously voted.

I don't like that quite obviously there is rigging on both, but it's at least easy to see how here. It looks clear that someone was watching the poll and dumped "Scat" votes whenever "No Scat" gained 1 vote, the site was offline so there's not a real reason for clustered votes like this at all. But it's hard to even say what that means, because for all we know it's someone trying to make "Scat" look bad.

The only "No" vote being "a little scat" is funny imo, but irrelevant past saying whoever is rigging here isn't using the same method the other clearly rigged polls this year used. We can't single out US votes like NO votes because that's almost all the non-joke votes.

Honestly I don't think the results of this one are that important to people, just look at the joke votes, but looking at the votes from when the site was online it looks like it was literally just 1 person that wanted the full scat, 1 that wanted it quieter, and 2 that wanted it gone. I don't think that's fully representative of anything though.

Polling for little additions of each song is a waste of time, let singfags have their own vision.
