No one actually believes that the world would be remade on a fundamental level by one of two archangels or Satan because one autist thought emotions were too confusing. So having the antagonist be a bitch mom was a good move. Because Lusamine's fate could be up in the air. Maybe she will get abandoned in Ultra Space. Something similar happened to Cyrus. Maybe she'll just be sent to prison for the rest of forever. That's not that outlandish. Lusamine gets to actually do something because the stakes aren't so ludicrously high as to be impossible. Yeah the Ultra Beasts get loose but they're just annoying everyone and the Island Guardians end up dealing with them anyway.
