Then they could redo the first game's plot and spin that into a new trilogy
>>
>>750091452
So, the relay being built would go to Andromeda.
The Geth pulled a Lazarus type project on Shepard, creating a sort of perfect copy of who he/she was with a memory imprint they've had since the Geth part of ME3, so very close to the end of the game.
The scourge in Andromeda caused a time dilation effect in dark space between the 2 galaxies, which are merging faster than estimated, due to the entropy of Eezo (the Dark Energy ending retooled)
And Ryder arrives in the original setting, along with the Angara, and the Geth also merged with Quarians in this future, so the Geth wear clothes and shit.

The Council was shutting down the Geth's knowledge about Shepard and Liara is uncovering it as a conspiracy.

The new protagonist you play as hear the rumors about a dangerous geth revival somewhere, but it's being Fake News'd on New Earth on the New Citadel, who are trying to stop any spread of news that the Andromeda relay is sending the entropy-effect to our galaxy or something like this.

You bump into Liara who is looking for Shepard, and you both look for Shepard, as you bump into the game's villain, who's an evil human dude, who wants to harness the power of the scourge or something, instead of stopping it from spreading, and Shepard is where the Geth are, and the Geth have found some "answer" to culling the spread of the scourge. Bad guy wants it to harness it, and the others want it to stop it, especially Ryder who spent off-screen sequel-time in Andromeda telling you "how bad it's gotten" and stuff about his mom being in coma.

It was something like this.

I know someone who knows someone, who knew someone at BioWare who said stuff 3 years ago.
>>
>>750092118
He probably would have been turned into a cyborg or A.I., maybe by the geth like in the original concept for 2's story.
They would need to retcon the Destroy ending to let the geth survive though. Unless they just handwave it with the quarians rebuilding them.
>>
Joking aside it would have been yet another lazy ancient evil awakens but this time in space bullshit story. They'd then get a new writer who abandons that plot halfway through the trilogy and some reapers that remained in dark space were actually behind it all

doesn't really matter anymore.

They should have never made Andromeda. Terrible concept, bad execution, mediocre mess of a game and any game that would keep that game canon was going to fail. The entire concept of merging the Andromeda story with the ending of ME3 was awful.

What they should have done is smaller budget games set in the Mass Effect universe where the entire point of the game isn't saving the universe, but smaller scale conflicts and stories. That would have worked, and the universe of mass effect is big enough to tell whatever story you could possibly think of especially with how the end of ME3 and the entire galaxy rebuilding after the reapers, there was ample opportunity to create a story there.

They had some plan for this. Basically all 3 endings "happen but they don't".

So the only canonicality of the ME3 endings was
>Everyone knew Shepard went up to the Citadel
>And when he was gone, the Reapers were gone within months too
And they kinda just leave it at that the whole game, for budgetary reasons.
The plan was to have a Pre-military service history setting in the character creator between the 3 endings, but reworded so Destroy was called something else like "Against Synthetic Life" or something like that.

The 3 settings would then have some expanded dialogue in the middle of the game during the game's quests, and they'd have a way to unify the fate of the Geth between all 3. So in Destroy they had a backup site, which they also have in the other versions, but they only completely restored if it was the Destroy ending, and used the Backup for that "Shepard Data and Scourge" in the other ones. In all 3 versions they ultimately merge with the Quarians in the near future, and start wearing clothes.

The "Krogan Civil War" concept art they showed was the same kind of thing, but unifying a world-state for the Krogan regardless of how ME3's Genophage outcome happened. So again, either world-state would have some writing mid-way through it that varies, but ultimately there is this "Civil War" in the past of the new game, which either was when the Krogan Champion overthrew the expansionist Krogan Warlord who led the Krogan after "SABOTAGE" world-state, or it's the Krogan Champion fighting and winning against an uprising, and keeping the Krogan from becoming expansionist in the "CURE" world state, so in both you end up with the Krogan talking about this civil war being so bloody, and a Krogan "hero" who went down in history, and also whether they celebrate or lament Shepard's legacy.

The game would be 90% focused on a new protagonist with Liara, Shepard and OT stuff being sort of a dangling carrot to keep people from dropping the game.
>>
>>750093273
>Terrible concept

>>
>>750093380

>>
>>750093357
It wasn't the worst thing I've ever played. It just was not memorable at all, certainly not good. There's nothing about it that ever makes me want to ever install it or play it ever again.

Gameplay was OK, the worlds were OK for the most part. The lore, setting, story, characters, etc. That is where the game is just completely soulless and pointless. None of them are interesting in the slightest. The main antagonists are trash and uninteresting. It's just a bad setting too. When Mass Effect already has such a large universe in the milky way that is virtually unexplored, why move it to another fucking galaxy that is not even 1% as interesting as the shit in the milky way?

I have no idead honestly. I dont even think that was supposed to be an older Liara as well. Because at that point bringing Shepard back makes literally no sense. Destroy ending SHOWS that Shep is alive, like right after whole thing blows up.
I dont even think retards at bioware knew what they wanted to do. They just kept releasing meaningless teasers to keep brand relevant.
>>
>>750093445
Maybe they shouldn't have burnt down the Milky Way then, because if your only solution is a terrible concept, then you don't have a franchise, you have a problem.
>>
>>750093273
I liked Andromed fighting style, it could be improved but not bad, the rest of the mechanics and story was terrible. Exploring was hardly rewarding, and side stories were lame. I think the Andromeda concept was good, sadly, very poorly executed. In the end, it was a mess since its design, Bioware didn't know what it was doing anymore, too afraid to try new things and just go for it like it did before. Such a shame, still, deserved.
>>

Yeah, they were remade, you see. Shepard only survives in the destroy ending, so that's the canon one according to this game.

>>
>>750093680
This is because Mike Gamble and his cronies from the other EA studios feel a huge personal attachment to Andromed and their time in the studio together. Mass Effect 3 was basically Gamble's first full AAA release, and he was just an underdog on that project trying to get into a position of any form of creative decisionmaking, and Andromeda was the first time he was kinda in charge of something, so he clearly remembers that game as if it's "his".

I would have liked to see something set a few years after 3, canonizing destroy, where Shepard acts as a mentor for the new player character in a story that is much lower stakes/the main quest is of personal importance to the character rather than world saving. Save import of campaigns ending with destroy could be used to pull end state data on all the side characters and important quests from trilogy as well as things like shepard appearance and romances.

They could have easily made ME4 about the galaxy rebuilding after the Reaper War. It would be like the Wild West with most of species’ governments fucked by the war or starting to fight with each other again. It's because they really wanted to finish out the arc they had set up on MEA, which roughly had to do with the resolution of the Scourge, and that playing into the emotional core of Ryder trying to save his mom, and his dad not being really dead after all but being tied to the Benefactor Conspiracy, and then all of that putting Ryder through an arc of growth where by the second or third chapter, he'd become a highly confident and more serious person and his dad kinda ending up as the villain in a sense, and then also becoming the hero who ends the whole scourge problem.

They're trying to skip over little bits of that, and then do the rest of it in tandem with a plot that's reset to the Milky Way, so that fans can have their Liara and their Shepard, and some hints and nods to Tali or Garrus.

The game wouldn't actually take place 600 years after ME3. Dunno specifics but I assumed it would be around 10-20 years, and then they wanted to use the Dark Space-Time Dilation as an excuse to say that that voyage Ryder took to Andromeda, which had them "600 years in cryo", because of this phenomenon that nobody knew about, is actually just around 6 years relative, and then it would also explain another detail about how the Reapers actually managed to stay and conserve energy in Dark Space, as well as throw in a nod that all while they're talking about the relationship between Organics and Synthetics regarding Shepard's galaxy, and the "harvest", their larger goals actually did have to do with trying to prevent this Dark Energy problem.

They took a few things in 3 back in 2012 that they couldn't really support given the trilogy's total run-time, and pushed it out into "hypothetical future possibilities for story" and one of those were Dark Energy and another one was Illusive Man/Cerberus's ulterior goals. Him wanting to Control the Reapers in 3 isn't just him being "crazy". he got indoctrinated because he lost against the Reapers, but he had a larger thesis.

You are wrong. The spirit of mass effect is that of the Pioneering Spirit. The deep desire to explore combined with grand ambition. It's not a spirit that cares to tread ground that has already been well-tread, and meander about aimlessly occupying itself with petty conflicts and drama. Go back and play the first game again, it's clearly been too long for you.

Who gives a fuck about an arc from a failed spinoff? Also wasn't it Bioware Austin or whatever it was called that's been dead for years? It's not even the same studio. Why are they so obsessed with picking up their slack? Were any of the writers from that era still around anymore?
>The game wouldn't actually take place 600 years after ME3. Dunno specifics but I assumed it would be around 10-20 years, and then they wanted to use the Dark Space-Time Dilation as an excuse to say that that voyage Ryder took to Andromeda, which had them "600 years in cryo", because of this phenomenon that nobody knew about, is actually just around 6 years relative
That sounds mind-numbingly retarded, and also completely unnecessary, other than to have an excuse to include a character from a game few people played and nobody liked.
>>
>>750096820
Most people prefer 2's focus on recruiting squadmates and loyalty missions over "exploring" empty maps with copy pasted content in a tank with bad physics.

Nothing wrong with the geth. The Destroy ending erasing them all was always stupid.
>>
>>750093273
Also I'm getting the impression that you aren't really a fan of sci fi in general. Mass Effect was science fiction first and a drama action series second. That's why they went with exploring the Andromeda galaxy instead of doing what you want them to have done.

Sure, go on.

Nobody gives a fuck about that. Reddit trannies singing in unison about "what made ME2 great" 15 years after it came out means nothing. Shepard only gets to be Shepard because the stakes are higher than any character can even imagine. Nobody wants to be space janny in not-Star Trek.

Unless ME4 was going to be a scaled back experience where you just live out that space-cop going around the galaxy solving shit without the greater scope threat like REAPERS looming in the background, it was going to be shit.

Funny how le exploration fags never talk about Andromeda's shitty Ubisoft tier open maps.
It should be everything they want from a Mass Effect game.
>>
>>750097431
That's not the same experience and you know it. It's about the weight of which what you know or suspect impact how you experience the exploration levels, and the context that weight hangs over the game world. It requires good writing to pull off, and it also requires being an avid reader to develop an appreciation for. Otherwise you turn into a mindless drama zombie. Small minds and all that

Andromeda throws away everything established by the other games that people liked to make a lame soft reboot.
>>
>>750097567
It wasn't a real open world game
>>
Andromeda was like a weird industry plant. I remember when they implemented not-vampires in Stellaris and unlike every other thing in that game which had a clear sci-fi inspiration (ST, B5, SW, 40k, Dune etc.) I couldn't for the life of me figure out what it was supposed to resemble mechanically until I by chance looked up what the antagonists in Andromeda were and then it clicked. But who in their right mind would base anything on something from fucking Andromeda, it just doesn't make sense.

>>
>>750097567
Andromeda was actually supposed to have procedurally generated maps and worlds like No Man's Sky. They could never get it working and ended up shoving in all the things they wanted across a dozen planets into like 4.
>>
>>750097690
Andromeda turned me off so I never bought it, so I can't discuss the specifics of it, but you clearly don't speak for everyone. Most people yes, in the same way McDonalds aims to cater to "most people". Lowest common denominator. It's not a compliment or a positive trait at all in this specific case. You're the crowd EA was going after. Andromeda is the direction (obviously not the execution) the original writers were after. The one bit of credit I can give the Andromeda team is that they appear to have respected the original intentions and tone of the setting, even if they didn't have the talent or skill to pull it off.

Plausible. If Shepard never got involved, Saren lets Reapers walk right through their plan. But because Chudshep stepped in, the cycle was broken and the Mass Relay network was destroyed no matter what, severing entire galactic ties.
Daughtershep would recognize this and get the hate for it, but would be strong and persevere while singlehandedly rebuilding the Mass Relay network.
To prevent a recurrence, all males in the galaxy are genophaged and the Asari are now the galactic queen race to allow propagation. That is the Paragon ending.

Obvious answer is not to bring him back, but show you the effects of his deeds. The shitty Buzz Aldrin epilogue called him The Shepard, so he reached galactic legend status. Only thing is that'd really benefit from decision imports from the past games, and they couldn't even do that for 3.
To avoid turning into shitty tranny sci-fi, it needs some focus on Shepard, eezo, and the Mass Relays. I think the legacy of his deeds is the only way.

Mass Effect was envisioned as a trilogy from the get go, not an infinite setting with countless sequels in mind, so yeah it makes sense they tied the Citadel to the Reapers and the like. It was all meant to be in service to the big main plot ME1 builds towards its entire game.

Whatever was planned initially was abandoned very early on. The franchise could have lasted way longer than three games with the Reapers as a distant threat.

Drew quit once Bioware was acquired by EA. Kind of says a lot.

No he didn't lmao EA acquired them right before ME1's release. Drew left in 2012, came back in 2015 and left again in 2018.

You saying you wanted the same mid-2010s BioWare that brought you Inquisition and Andromeda to write Shepard's adventure? Things didn't magically get better at the studio post-2013, if anything it was the exact opposite.

They still didn't follow through with Drew's vision for Mass Effect.

>The main writer quit and went to write for SWTOR,
the main writer was Casey Hudson, full stop
It was his design document, it was his idea. Karpyshyn wanted to write his autistic Star Wars fan fiction, if you want to see what his vision for Mass Effect was go play Exodus next year

Yeah but they're just called that for convenience to illustrate how they use sex selection differently. They still have the X genes, they just don't use them for sex selection. Similarly the Platypus has "XY" selection but doesn't use the same genes to do it as other mammals, it in fact uses the same genes Birds use for their "Z". So birds could still theoretically be killed by something that targets "X chromosome" depending upon how you define X, the genes or what the gene is being used for?

Drew didn't have a vision for Mass Effect

>>750109512
Yeah he did. The dark matter plot was going to be bigger than muh Reapers

Liara becomes a human supremacist and realises the council sucks. There, thats your plot.

Liara is for insane alien sex, not for plot relevance.
