I mostly liked how they did Death in this game, but it only strengthens a looming niggle I've had even since the IGA era, which is that after a certain point he kinda stops feeling like Dracula's henchman/partner and more of a main villain than Dracula himself. Seriously, the guy's constantly busting his ass and manipulating things behind the scenes to bring back Drac, and once he manages it Dracula mostly just ominously looms in his tower until a Belmont/Morris/Alucard marches up those stairs. Death is fully immortal with or without the Castle, and he's constantly starting shit even when Dracula's dead (and before he even existed), so eventually I can't help but wonder why everyone's so focused on the shut-in vampire instead of the guy who lets him loose every few years. Like, if someone keeps letting the tigers out at the zoo, the existence of the tigers isn't the real issue here.I think that if they want to keep making more story-heavy games they should let Dracula be a more active participant in his own series.
