Is there any reason to not always pick omnivore? Seems like the best option out of the three gameplay wise.

Previous stage choices give you different buffs and options in later stages.
Most notably space, but you also get other minor buffs earlier if you try to stick to a playstyle.

>>750116857
>do the stages according to what I want in the space stage

The logic of the heart says that carnivores are cooler.
>>
>>750116731
Here is the thing, what you chose doesn't matter when it comes to what you can eat.

You can choose carnivore, but as long as you keep the herbivore mouth on your species from the cell stage you can eat anything.
>>
>>750117412
there are only two fun ways to play space stage

trying to negotiate and trade and maintain planets is an absolute pain

What kills it for me is realizing I have to manually pick up my fucking spice from each individual planet, like what the fuck is that? I guess that's what you mean by maintain planets and trade?

It's hilarious that back in the 2000s when the creationism vs. evolution shit was at its height there was a minor outcry from the pro-creationism camp about this game when "evolution" in this game has more to do with intelligent design since you are in charge of designing the creatures and you can completely overhaul them. I say minor because it was nothing compared to the shitstorm about Pokemon, but it was similar to that one because it leans on not understanding what evolution is in the first place. The Pokemon shitstorm would've never been a thing in the first place if the localizers didn't think the word "metamorphosis" was too complicated for the kids.

not really. there was just a counter culture wave of obnoxious atheists that was boosted by the internet becoming mainstream and redditors who were mostly in high school wanting to appear more intelligent than they were. with the initial generation of normies that found the internet aging and the internet being filled with more older people, that whole "movement" was quickly laughed out of existence.

Roleplaying.
Fruit is better than meat. And seaweed is yummy too. And later you can add eggs.
But omnivore is the best gameplaywise objectively. It's just that the game is singleplayer, "Hard" difficulty is super easy and lax and you do not need to minmax the game to this degree.
Same reason I make the creature I wsnt aesthetically, rather than slapping together the 7 best 250 cost parts for max efficiency (plus eyes of course) like it was a PVP game.
A very obscure advantage Herbivoures or Carnivoures may have is that they have different tribal progressions. Herb starts with torch, carn gets axe and omn gets spear. Everyone gets everything in the end but the order is different. Herbivores only get axes very late fir example.
But yeah, when purely minmaxing omnivoure is king because unlike real life omnivoures do not need a balanced diet and can just eat meat and fruit as they get them.
>>
>>750131794
>When you hear something so utterly Triassic
you just gotta hit em with that Late Cretaceous stare...

Diet doesnt really matter because you can just keep the omnivore cell mouth into the creature stage and keep eating whatever you want

Spore mogs all of modern AAA games in the "how fun is it" department
>>
One thing I forgot to mention is mouths.
Carnivoures max out sing at 3 while herbivoures get Sing 5.
For Bite, it's the inverse with 3 for herbs and 5 cor carns.
Omnivoures can max out Sing at 5 but only get 4 bite.
So carnivoures have the very niche advantage if being the only species with 5 bite. If this was an online PVP game, that would be very vital. But since it's a very easy singleplayer game, 5 charge, spit and strike suffice for taking out everything, even with just bite 1. Especially if you bring a pack.
The herbivoirous boar snout has the very questionable advantage of having charge LV 3, as the only mouth that has a non-bite attack. The usefulness of this is highly dubious but it is nonetheless a fun fact worth noting.
I always found it funny that the boar snout, an animal generally considered "ugly" and "brutish" by humanity, has a magnificent singing voice in Spore.

Same. It's boring.
Endgame gets boring once you maxed out your ship and cash and everything.
I don't want to crush 500 more generic enemy planets easily while backtracking in between to solve ecological problems.
Really, what is even out there in space?
"Artifacts" that do nothing?
Random flora and fauna to hunt?
Planets to colonize for no reason?
Purple spice is the only reason to leave your solar system.

Try existing in the 2000s instead of being a sperm. My Christian biology teacher was complaining the entire time when teaching about evolution, and would go on unrelated tirades about anal sex.

I know the meta with you twitteroids is to pretend to be paleocons but come on.
>>
Being anti evolution in the 2100s is just fucking retarded.
There is so much evidence pointing towards evolution, including reconstruction experiments on a much smller scale.
The only evidence against evolution is some book from 2000 years ago that humans wrote to cope with the fact they did not know stuff we know now.
Anti-evolution goylems are holding back humanity and deserve to be mocked and laughed at.

>when "evolution" in this game has more to do with intelligent design since you are in charge of designing the creatures and you can completely overhaul them.
There is some element of evolutionary pressures. Most parts you unlock are more advanced versions of parts you already have which reflects the evolutionary forces that prefer to repurpose parts of the body than evolve new ones from nothing (look into how we got lungs). At first I was kind of weirded out by socialization because interspecies socialization like that is pretty rare in nature and you dont see species going out and befriending eachother to avoid getting eaten but I realize now that it's the best way the game could approximate sexual selection within its gameplay even if you're sexually selecting with other organisms instead of members of your own species. I find myself often changing my creature's bodyplan and stats minorly just to approach a specific species. That is a form of evolutionary pressure, you can't always brute force it. Yes, by the nature of being a video game, it is more like "intelligent design", but that's because you are never truly playing as an individual member of a species or even the species itself, you are natural selection. You are the vector through which evolutionary pressures select for traits. If ever there was a spore sequel I would love more specialized traits than just combat to really make this show. Make flight and burrowing and arms all their own paths to spec into that allow access to different areas. Also expand the prey gameblay/herbivore gameplay. Make it so you still have an incentive to explore to find food but you get DNA by finding food and then a mate instead of befriending other species. There has to be a way to make being a herbivore enjoyable but still less detatched from real world herbivore behavior

how they fuck did they get away with charging for a demo?

>>
>>750135374
This game has nothing to do with real evolution.
It is abstracted, gamified and simplified so children can build their cool creature they want, rather than learning about genetics and natural selection, and that is completely ok.
>>
>>750135628
Idk, I pirated the entire game and did not give them a cent.

>>
>>750136384
No middle ages sucks.
Give me castles, hammers and maces, plate armor for my creatures.
Castles and towns, trade routes, cozy villages, artisans, building wooden ships and sailing the seven seas, discovering the other continents like Columbus discovered America and fighting pirates and barbarians. Maybe even fighting off the black plague with research and quarantine zones.
They even skipped antiquity. You go from the stone age straight to modernity. I wanted to build up from a small village with some carpenters, stonemasons and militia to a thriving capital for my creatures with a huge castle towering over it.
I used to have a debate with some fuck looking at my cell and saying it was a multicellular orgasm when I said that in the fictional setting of Spore this is a cell.

Creature stage is the best part because it is a third person RPG, even if it is basic, and actually the part of the game during which you evolve your creature, which is the point of the game.
Replacing exp and equipment with creature body parts is a clever spin on the genre.
Tribal stage and civ stage are shitty RTS and Space stage is decent, though you barely interact with your creature anymore. It's quite easy to snowball cheese purple spice planets for infinite money and it grows very stale after a few hours of playtime. Space stage also kinda larps as a strategy game but since you only have one ship you cannot really defend your planets so they added that super overpowered drone thing that just negates all invasions. Past purple spice, there is little reason to explore or colonize.
At a maxed out build the Grox are not a challenge but tedious because they have so many planets.

Cargo isn't an issue. The only issue is planet max capacity may fill up by the time you visit anyways. But faster spice still adds some profit over time if you commonly fly between the same planets.
Keep in mind I only farmed purple and red (just because home planet) so I didn't store 5 stacks of different spices.
Pirates, and planet defense as a whole, can be solved with the meme drone and bio disasters with the stabeliser building thing.
Thank god NPC empires do not have the overpowered meme drones.

Trying to go for an economic win in the city stage on hard is probably the worst thing you can do in the entire game.
