This isn't sustainable

>You need to spend $4000 on a gaming pc
has been a retarded meme for years, it's just been upgraded to
>You need to spend $10000 on a gaming pc.
Nothing has really changed for the average pcfag who will spend roughly $1500. You get a lot less for that now than you did a year ago but it's still enough for gaming.
>>
>>750128705
Is there are reason why you picked the absolutely most top of the top high-end specs for the PC? Because I achieved a high-end build for total I'd say 2500€, built it myself.
>>
>>750128705
It's not that much retard, everyone should have 10k in his pocket to spend anytime right now.
>>
>>750128705
It isn't. Looking at the performance gain over a 4090 the 5090 should be a upper midrange card and priced at around 800 bucks.

The Series S was the undisputed budget king before the price increases. At $299, no other machine on the planet could play CP2077 @60fps.
>>
>>750129320
Not that anon, but prepare to get mad yourself at what I suggest: get into stocks and/or crypto to ensure you can always upgrade your setup.

If you're not investing/trading in the markets already, you're pretty fucked. Simply saving isn't enough these days. The price of everything is rising quicker than wages are, even if you work multiple jobs.
>>
There's absolutely no reason to leave AM4 for gaming

Those PCs are for editing videos or genning ai.
1200/2000 is peak gaming for what we have now.
>>
i still got my 1050 ti and i can run everything
>>
Of course it's sustainable, very sustainable even.
Lots of people who used to buy cars don't do it anymore and the average car is way more expensive than a gayming rig.
People also have less kids, so that's not a financial burden either.
You can also socialize less outside, so money gets saved doing that too.
We might not like it, but if we look at the average person's purchasing power, basically anyone can easily buy a 10k product.
Just pay in installments and you're good.
Top end rig like that will be good for the next 10 years anyways, so it's not even that bad when you take that into consideration.
It just feels absurd considering how insanely cheap computing has been in the recent years.
>>
>>750129586
& expect price of ram and gpu to x3 in the next 2 year btw (not joking).

This is indirect feudal lockout of the plens from local compute. Not good.
>>
>>750130150
I can easily buy a 10k product that's why I don't easily pay 10k for a 2k product.

Scalpers on discogs also sell their fotm first press for 1k to a friend to sell it again for 300 bucks to some retard who thinks he's making 700 bucks because that was the last confirmed purchase.
Never pay more for something than you think it's worth only because the seller says it's worth more.
>>
>>750132440
>Scalpers on discogs also sell their
Kek, this discogs analogy isn't quite the same situation as Nvidia literally telling retail consumers that there will be less production line stock allotted to them in the future, plus that little there will be is all going to be rapidly more expensive year on year.

You don't see people of all ages, especially young working people with discretionary income, playing rekkids and cds all the time. You see them on their computers. Which they'd ideally like to upgrade at some point in the next few years.

This looks like great place to ask because i am afraid /g/ will laugh at me.
Heres my current PC:
CPU - Intel Core i7-3770 3.4 GHz
GPU - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti (6 gb)
MOTHERBOARD - ASUS P8Z77-V LX
RAM - 16GB

Its 10 years old, but it was perfect for me so far, sadly i REALLY want to play poe2 and its just impossible on current rig, i need upgrades.
What are my Cheapest option? And what is my most interesting options that leaves room for small upgrades in future?

I think it checks out pretty well. At 10k you really can just get a console of your choice until things cooled off or play your backlog for another 5 years. Nothing in these pcs is worth 10k of entertainment like no LP is worth more than 20 bucks. It's all in ppls head.

T.riding out the storm with:
Gpu 5060ti
Cpu 5600x
32gb ram
1tb m2 ssd x2 one for windows, one for vidya installs.

I'm hoping for a black friday deal on a 5800x3d cpu which will hold me over even longer but I'm not paying 300 bucks for it right now.

You don't NEED a 5090 and if you do (and I mean NEED one, not just want one for your video games), you probably can either get one through work or make enough money to afford one with inflated prices.

I paid $220 for 64GB. I'm looking at DDR4 (which is still completely viable for PC gayman) and I see 32GB Corsair for $260 on Amazon, which should be more than enough for someone who wants to play on PC to get into PC gaming. I also see 3060tis for $460.

My point is you can build an affordable PC easily that will do 80% of what most people want to play. You might be locked to 1080p 60fps but its still doable.

Yeah, it's very nice but the price/performance ratio on the 5090 isn't very good for vidya in general. There's a good chance of devs toning down gfx because high end hardware isn't affordable for most. Which is pretty shit if you have the flagship card.
>>
>>750144585
Games take 6 years minimum to develop these days. If devs started to target lower spec hardware once prices hit the roof you‘ll see the effects of that in 5 years at the earliest. I fully expect AAA games in the next few years to be very demanding

That PC would cost $1700 now unfortunately, but you don't need an RTX 5090 for gaming, that shit is only necessary for AI slop. Even if you do want AI slop there are models that can work off 8GB of VRAM

it shouldn't be, but there's absolutely 0 chance that the current government does anything about the ram cartel and price gouging going on.

Sustainability isn't the goal. The consumer market is a fucking spec of dust to them so we're basically stuck in the early stages of a corporate war where digital media companies are being attacked by the very hardware makers that enabled them.

>The consumer market is a fucking spec of dust
b2b sales are great in volume and stability. If you are lucky liquidation sells can be sources for consumers in the future. You get the things from closing business or what businesses are going to replace.

Nobody need that. Those a top top of the line that is overkill for games. You don't need 8k path tracing to have a good time. 1080p is enough. 120fps. That costs around 2500. More than console, sure, but much stronger.

what are you a 3D animator? a local-AI slopper? you dont need hardware that high end for just gaming. buy a 2 grand PC at most, and it’ll last you years

i can thank ai sloppa that I just bought the last affordable SD cards at my local officeworks "on clearance" because the newest batch is 3-4x the price. imagine paying au$600 for a 1tb SD card
>>
I have a crappy PC (1070 and i7-4790) and a Switch 2 don't even know what else I would need. Most PC games I play are shit like Balatro and Hearthstone Battlegrounds anyway which can run on my iPhone kek. You can build a decent 1080p machine for not a lot of money if you want to play new games too.

>>750128705
bro, you can build one yourself for like way less, still more than you used to be able to because of AI jeets, but if you're spending more than 3k you're doing something wrong, if you're spending between 1k and 2k you can build something that will last 5+ years.

You'll need a whole new rig a this point. Build a cheap AM4+ socket computer so you can re-use your RAM. The expensive part will be the new gpu, which you might as well just grab the strongest one you can afford.

Controlling for inflation, that's what PCs sold for in the early 90s. What we're seeing isn't a slide into dystopia but the end of a golden age. We had it just that good a few years ago.
>>
>>750128705
Is it cheaper now to buy a pre-made than build a pc? What if I just transfer my 3070
>>
>>750160197
Eh I regret getting the 5070Ti, I really should have just dropped a few hundred more for the 5090
>>
>>750161307
Well, I've built this whole build new in July this year, 5080 seemed like a money waste 300-500 euro difference in Eastern Europe, 5070ti was an obv pick here. 5090 was a lot too but obv it's way worse now...honestly when I look back I could've probably gone with a 5090 instead, budget was not the problem I just did not expect for this shit to escalate even more in just 3 months and with my luck my 5090 would probably end up burning or something.
