There's no justification for Veilguard's infantile social pandering. It was poor hiring practices. Of course, you could make a valid point that Bioware were uniquely susceptible to hiring a generation raised on self-serving fanfiction slop due to the romantic storytelling nature of their games, and everyone was riding high on the social justice wave that dominated the mid-late 2010's, but these creative voices were clearly unqualified nonetheless.The spirit of Bioware RPG's design lives on elsewhere nevertheless. For all their faults, Andromeda proved Mass Effect didn't need sequels, and Dragon Age Veilguard answered its franchises lingering questions, for better or worse. Bioware tried to create something new with Anthem, and it was appalling dogshit. There really were no lingering threads to tie.
