This had a bigger emotional impact on me than any movie I've ever seen. Are walking simulators the only games capable of being art?

the fish factory part was great, everything else was okay
play ABZU, Journey and Eclipsium

All videogames are art
>>
>cursed family with extremely gimmicky deaths
Have you only watched marvel movies or something?
>>
For something as critically acclaimed as this, I was extremely underwhelmed. I kept waiting for it to go somewhere but it never did, and any time it threatened to get interesting it immediately stopped. The fish factory part was the most exciting because I half expected the game to suddenly lop the guy's hand off partway through but instead the whole segment plays out to completion and then apparently he just sticks his fucking head in the guillotine

>Clannad & After Story.

>its anime.

>the twist is everyone is retarded and they use "it's a family curse" to cope when nephew sally sticks a fork in a socket and dies

I'm pretty sure it's an hereditary mental illness that results in depression and neglect. Pretty sad game.

You are too sensitive, it has great episode on the fish factory everybody is talking about but everything else just worse and fails to deliver the games as something more than bunch of episodes

I really enjoyed this. Are there other games that feel similar to this in terms of atmosphere and art style?

Literally the opposite, that mindset is one of the biggest things that's regressing video games and holding them back from being art.

So she was killed by her boyfriend, right?

Skip a few steps and go right for the high art and play Scorn.
Don't come crying if you got filtered. Just accept that you are not capable of engaging with the finer arts of the medium.

It's a very cookie cutter story and doesn't really have an emotional core, just a bunch of family tragedies that don't really go anywhere. I've cried over vidya before but I barely remembered even playing this.

Games have to have gameplay to be art
>>
>>750143860
The way the story is delivered felt emotional to me. I think if it was done in a more direct way with less magical realism, it wouldn't have been as interesting. If this was a movie, it wouldn't have been anywhere near as effective.

I mean, it does have gameplay.....very simple gameplay but gameplay nonetheless
>>
>>750144876
more challenging gameplay than Wolverine I assume?
>>
>>750144802
idk, I never felt like they really let you see the family in full to gain a real emotional connection. You are just given vignette after vignette, then it just sort of ends.

The curse was that one of the daughters married a Jeet and gave birth to the narrator.

Seemed trite as hell to me. The way the stories were told was fairly interesting, since it was typically quite aesthetically pleasing, but the actual quality of the stories was not. Okay, baby drowned. Cool. Great story.
