Now's a good time to reminisce about the only good Mass Effect game.
>>750145057SR1>>>SR2
>>750145057there are no good mass effect games
>>750145514Yeah its funny to me that this board even liked the games at all.
>>750145514wrong
>>750145057>"Saren stop being bad">"You know what Shepard, you're right.." >Pulls out a Glock and shoots himself
>the only good Mass Effect game.no such thing exists
>>750146551KINO
>>750145057ME3 is the only good one because the gameplay was outsourced away from shitty ass bioware
It's worth remembering that it's deeply flawed.>The third-person shooter gameplay is bad>The vehicle controls are awful>The planets have nice vistas but they're literally empty>Dull areas are constantly recycled>Character-progression mechanics (skills and equipment) are dreadfully dull and I have to question the whole mechanic given that like most games it doesn't make sense for Shepard not to be at the peak of achievable performance with the best kit at the start of the game, and unlike some games it doesn't even add crunch>A lot of other mechanics, like the alignment system, are imported from genre tropes without examining if they are actually good and purposeful (the so-called sequels ruin everything, but ME1 is almost there in making it make sense in presenting both as reasonable options of approaching things, but ultimately falls down to usual traps like providing mechanical incentives to stick to a path rather than making decisions on case-by-case basis). And don't let me get started on the Towers of Hanoi puzzle.>The human companions are fucking boring>This is less of an actual flaw, but the story is basically just the standard BioWare formula>Etc.But then, most non-banal games are, so I can look past that. It has some real strengths (like the atmosphere and companions), it takes its worldbuilding quite seriously (stuff like heating mechanic), the story concept is inherently appealing (playing as Captain Kirk kind of character exploring strange new worlds and banging hot blue humanoids), concept of merging action gameplay with BioWare formula was an innovation and I don't think it's an unreasonable design, etc.
Shepard.
>>750147031I feel like ME2 was the nice mid-point between action and rpg, I quite liked watching batarians blowing up because of a biotic combination or whatever combo I did with my companions.
>>750147204The name's Commander...Shepard Commander.
>>750146551>then comes back for round 2
>>750145057This game doesn't exist until it releases on Switch 2
