I've had mine for a while and it's nice, even if you're not using the touchpads
Don't get chinkware like 8bitdo and gamesaar, they won't last

You gain borzoi

haven't used but the touchpad on ps controllers can be useful, but it's more of extra options and not really necessary

Start is too close to ABXY. Have hit start a number of times panicking while playing Galactic Racer

>controller without a headphone jack
Valve is so stupid

I own one. I think it is fine. I have not found a good use for the trackpads.
My initial idea was inventory management in games. Bound them like they're my mouse and instead of fiddling around in the menu just click like normal. Doesn't really work. Most games just don't seem to like that.
Second idea was just to use the left one as a pseudo d-pad for games where the d-pad uses items. Doesn't work that great either.
Third idea was to try to have them function for aiming, but once again games don't seem to really like them for that either.

Overall I would love to see someone who comes up with real, actual uses for the trackpads because I have not seen it yet. They seem awkward and kind of useless.

The controller itself is good though. I've used it for a number of different games and I've found the sticks to be reliable and accurate, the buttons to work well, and I like the back buttons. Easily reprogrammable in Steam and can be used for single buttons or macros. No fiddling with a 3rd party app since you have steam open for your games anyways. Overall I think for a premium controller it is good but I just do not get the trackpads.

I was going to get one, until I learned it has no native xinput
>but you can just run everything through steam
This shit is $100, I shouldn't have to.
>>
>>750147376
Does anyone even make xinput exclusive stuff? That shit is so arhaic and microsoft refuses to update to modern standards
>>
>>750146532
Can I buy this with steam bucks I collected from playing cs2? how long would it take to make enough mone
>>
>>750147678
Any games you get off itch or gog will most likely have it. It being archaic isn't really a good argument, and is the sort of logic apple users use when shit like their headphone jacks got taken away.
>>
honestly, I bought it for the gimmicks and I ended up liking the traditional controls more.
The d-pad is nice. Complete opposite of the dogshit on the deck

They should've just given the old Steam Controller an ass-lift with the new back buttons and changed the front to the Beta designs that didn't have sticks. The "do-everything" style is 90s as fuck.
>>750147376
Xinput is a deprecated standard that was forced by Macroshart gimping their trashfire controller. It was entirely possible to get full parity with just DirectInput, but you had to use a 3rd party driver because they deliberately fucked up all the controller bindings.
>>750147678
It's worse than archaic.
>>750147903
There is no reason to support it. It's an awkward in-between standard for jeetports, any good old game should have DirectInput support.
This isn't even headphone jack shit, this is like if the fucking Zune had just decided to have special snowflake headphone standard and decades later Zune fanboys still kept asking for Zune headphone support on everything.

Eh. I haven't played any games where the touchpads are doing anything revolutionary. They're a nice mouse equivalent when you're lazy but they haven't wowed me. The back buttons do more work. Buttons feel good to press, stick feels nice, gyro functions well (if that's a thing you use), and it's predictably good build quality all around. The native Steam Input support is pretty damn nice. Never have to worry about rebinding any controls which has come in handy for me. The gimmicks like the touch pad or the puck are just that.
>Is it worth $100 plus a multi-month wait?
Honestly, probably not. I have faith it'll last a good while so if you want to invest in that kinda thing, maybe. It's really only something to buy if you 1) are a big controller guy like me or 2) just have a lot of spending cash and want a solid B- controller that'll last.

People have made a half-dozen Xinput proxies for it already. From another puck to just activating something in the tray to route the controller through. It's definitely not ideal, but it gets the job done well enough. Haven't noticed any significant input lag from the latter, either.
