If a person learns to appreciate how well-done it is and enjoy the drama and delivery of it, these games had really fun stories. RE4 is another hot take i have. I never cared for it... I played it, and it just felt, bland to me. Maybe the remake is better IDK.
I'm not a comic person, so I didn't know anything about the "twist" of the story, and I enjoyed it for what it was. I think Knight is the best game in the series by far and the gameplay is the peak of it too. The Batmobile is overhated, the issue wasn't that it was bad. In fact it's very polished and fun to play. The issue was there was a little bit too much emphasis on it during all the side content in the game to the point I felt like I was doing too much with the batmobile.That said, all the added racing modes that the game has are actually really fun and for DLC that was just added on it was actually really well done and I enjoyed getting the high scores in all the races with all the different batmobiles. Also the challenge modes in Knight are a ton of fun, and actually challenging. I had a lot of fun getting the flawless / perfect freeflows in all of the challenges with all of the characters. The iceberg lounge took me so long to beat since you had to have a combo of like almost 300x just to get killer croc to spawn and continue the fight. Man it was fun though, I failed so many times but when I finally got it and nailed the combo when everything just flowed together so well it was just awesome. Same with all the other challenges, they were tough to get it done perfect but I eventually got them all done. The funny thing is I only was able to do it after I got it on the PS5 too and managed to beat them all on that, went over to steam to get the ones I had left unfinished for years and knocked them out in quick succession.
I can play and replay Knight's AR missions forever. Predator is at its best in Knight in my opinion.

DMC is not a good or well balanced game which is why it's so popular. In fact I thin the term "sandbag simulator" is a far more apt name for the series than "action". The latter implies that you are actually fighting and battling something that poses a thread to you in some way.
