Dagoth Ur wants more then just drive the N'wahs out of Morrowind and be a Nationalist. Dagoth Ur is no Ulfric Stormcloak. He wants to basically create a new religion that every Dunmer has to worship and be the immortal ruler/dictator over all of Morrowind. If he would succeed he would also start a war with the Empire to attack Skyrim and Argonia to take back Land that was part of Morrowind at one point in history.

There was a big mod u quite enjoyed where you could. It let you go through the three stages of transformation and have your own temple too. Had multiple endings where right at the end you could usurp Voryn with the Moon and Star ring. Was pretty cool. Dropping the ministry onto Vivek while surfing on it as a heartwright was fun.

So when the Temple accuses you of being an Imperial stooge, they aren’t necessarily wrong.Luckily the game is structured in a way that you can totally roleplay as just fulfilling the Nerevarine prophecy and ignoring the Empire for the most part.
