Skyrim and Witcher 3 are the best overall examples, but it's common in most fantasy fictions.>"da imperials are power-hungry imperialist tyrants who want to force their rules!!!">local faction is so fucking racist and stupid it hurts to associate with them>northerners want to pogrom every single person who isn't like them>north folk can also be super racist to the protagonist, even when said protag helps them>all best endings are associated with the "oppressive" imperials winning
duh, one side has fucking hussars in it, and the elder scroll imperials have colovians who are basically supposed to be slavic
I dont give a shit about Witcher 3 it's an objectively bad game.but the only "racists" in the stormcloaks are 2 homeless people in the capital who aren't even part of the military. In fact Windhelm is the only city in Skyrim accepting refugees and giving them an entire district, while also being mindful of past tensions with the Argonians who are prone to being possessed by a hivemind and murdering their oppressors (dark elf slave owners)There's also a high elf in Windhelm who integrated into the community and is accepted by everyone simply because they haven't caused trouble.
>current empire was formed by forcefully subjugating provinces with a reality warping golemyeah that sounds like tyrant behavior
>>750156418I find myself increasingly siding with the racist ethnats unrelated to demographic changes in real life.
>>750156418My hercules like imperial sided with the Stormcloaks because it makes for a better story lol. He also would slaughter both during any battle
>>750157427the homeless beggar is a forcibly retired war veteran, the other is the brother of the stormcloaks' general. argonians are kept in the docks just so they can be paid dirt poorblaming every dunmer for what their fathers and forefathers did is the exact type of thinking being mocked in the gamethe high elf is literally a criminal and associated with thievesthe guards in all the stormcloak territories spew racist dialogue if you're an elf, khajiit, or argonian, no matter if you helped them liberate skyrim or not.this is a 15 year old game and we've been through this five thousand times, it's like you stormcuck dickriders love being humiliated by your media illiteracy./
>>750158389you'd get hanged, retard
>>750156418thing is whether the Empire / Nilfgaard in both respective games are best overall option for most people involved doesnt matter, you are playing as your own character, Dragonborn / Geralt, and in their cases book Geralt despises Emhyr the literal Emperor with a passion and most of his friends are northerners who generally range from mild or great dislike of Nilfgaard. But on the other hand Nilfgaard is the only option that doesnt want to destroy your witches harem, so there's a reason to side with them too. Similarly in Skyrim if you're a default canon Nord dragonborn, and you feel betrayed about Empire sacrificing your life so easily at beginning of the game for no good reason and become more patriotic and fight for your people's independance and especially Talos and faith, it makes sense to be with Stormcloaks. Both options are valid, but pretending like Empire/Nilfgaard just makes 100% sense is not correct
>>750161768siding with Roche on whatever is what aligns with Geralt the most, which conveniently means Nilfgaard wins. as for the civil war in skyrim, players were intended to go "oh shit maybe the stormcloaks aren't the good guys" if you think ulfric is compromised due to the dossier or were shocked by what tullius says at the end of the Stormcloak side of the questline, meant to invoke a feeling of "what have I done" in the player.obviously, whoever feels like playing however he wants will achieve whatever he desires, but the writers wrote something a certain one, and there's no denying it.
