World Tendency is more retarded than anything Dark Souls 2 ever did.
>>
Dawn // Darkness
>>
concept is really cool tho, just poorly executed
>>
it's based there just isn't enough ways to manipulate it. but you posted the ps5 version so i assume you're a pleb anyway and wouldn't get it.
>>
>>750158094
Imperfect, but they wanted some kind of system for things getting worse or better and a morality system. They should have improved upon them rather than streamline it more and more into roll slop.
>>
Filtered.
>>
I beat the game I didn't even know what it did. Still don't.
>>
I've played the OG DeS and the remake and I've no idea what the world tendency did exactly in my playthroughs. It may as well not exist for casuals
>>
>>750158094
DES has...vibes
>braindead a.i
>awful combat
>awful level design
>awful gear progression
I liked the og soundrack and the ''vibes'' but is easily the worst one
>>
>>750158094
fuck off remakenigger
>>
>>750158094
>throw yourself off a cliff 100 times
>proceed to get farmed by a boss who one shots you with every move another 100 times

World Tendency was a complete nothingburger on PS3. I never saw any events before NG+ where I went offline to manipulate it for drops.
>play game offline
>online feature behaves unintendedly
>WTF BAD GAME DESIGN
>>
>>750159094
WT is the least of your problems. ITEM BURDEN why no one talks about the worst mechanic in the series.
>>
>>750159221
Because that's irrelevant too, just put your shit in the Stockpile.
>>
>>750159251
how is irrelevant go to the nexus everytime i hit the magic item limit. is annoying and from software ditched for a good reason.
>>
>>750158709
It alters how much damage enemies do to you and it can potentially spawn new enemies that are way stronger.
>>
>>750159221
>ITEM BURDEN
This is a feature in every fucking RPG so obviously it's a nothingburger unless you're used to carrying the entire game's inventory at all times like in the sequels. You get used to depositing everything into storage after a level plus it keeps your inventory clean.
>>
>>750159335
You have to go back to the Nexus more often than your inventory limit fills.
>>
>>750159335
Get fucked you autistic runt.
>NOOO I MUST LOOT THE SPICE EVEN IF I HAVE 99 ON ME AND CAN DUPE ANOTHER 99 AT WILL
Fuck off.
>>
>>750159438
you people keep downplaying this shitass mechanics. but DES doesnt have fast travel and you cant do inventory management inside the dungeons unlike MOST RPGS.
>>
>>750158094
this >>750158245
literally all it needed was a few special respawnable enemies that would make your world tendency go up/down when you killed them
>>
>>750159649
It's not a good mechanic but it's not that big of a deal. It's genuinely no different than how I play every Souls game, I frequently deposit stuff I'm not using to keep my inventory easy to sort through. I get that not everybody plays that way though.

Why are people defending item burden when it added nothing to the experience?
>>
>>750159649
>DES doesnt have fast travel
Archstone Shards? Evacuate? Both of which teleport you to Stockpile Thomas. Hello?
>>
>>750159649
feel like im going insane reading this because there is literally no point in DES where you're more than 3 minutes away from a crystal. Just turn the fuck around or keep going for 2 minutes and find a boss
>>
>>750159728
Because it forces you to think what you want to take with you into the level. This is normal dungeon crawling mechanics and you even see it in casual WRPGs like Bethasdaslop.
>>
>>750158094
DES had missable loot of likes ''see that item there ? you cant pick anymore since you had skill issue or too MANY ITEMS'' if you played DES after the sequels you probably didnt know that, also the game tied your gear to WT. the way they reworked the WT mechanic into the covenant system was better than min maxing your playthrough doing dumb shit. Also that allowed you to get everything in one playthrough. Also no missable loot
>>
>>750158709
>>750158825
There are some fights with unique NPCs and even areas that become available only on pure tendency of either light or dark, along with the passive shit that happens.
>>
>>750159940
>you have to manage carry weight capacity
>also inventory space
>also monitoring degrading item durabilities
>also food to stave off hunger
>also water to stave off thirst
do sweaties really
can I just play the game without making artificial hoops to jump through
>>
>farming the plague babies in 5-3 so that you can become human to then die a lower the world tendency
It was a pain if you actually wanted to explore the mechanic but it's fine for casual playthroughs. Remember, games weren't known as soulslikes yet. It was just a unique mechanic on top of a game that already had unique combat so it just made it even more of an interesting experience if you played it when it came out and didn't know what you were getting into.
>>
>>750158094
What's wrong I thought Soulsfags loved hard games?
>>
>>750160128
>Also that allowed you to get everything in one playthrough
I think OG DeS might actually be the only game that allows this if you know what you are doing. All the other games require subsequent playthroughs for boss Souls items or spells while in DeS you can just dupe them and getting pure white events are extremely easy if you keep yourself in spirit form. Pure black is similarly trivial.
>>
>>750160392
>I don't want roleplaying mechanics in my RPG
Devil May Cry is right that way.
>>
To make it even more confusing, there was also character tendency which people mix up with being the same mechanic.
>>
>>750160614
That's because Character Tendency is even less of a relevant mechanic than World Tendency. WT can be subject to wild swings if you're playing offline but you can play through the game without even realizing CT is a thing.
>>
>>750160446
It was just the usual grind for obscure items that wasn't out of place in later Souls games either. Sunlight medallions in DaS2 is still the absolute worst. In DeS PS3 all grinds are made optional with the dupe glitch, so you're doing it for the love of the game.
>>
>>750158094
Yeah I abandoned my first character because of it, but that's fine cause I was gonna go dexfag for my first playthrough, and ended up pivoting to str when I made a new character. Str is always more fun for the first playthrough.
>>
>>750163115
>Yeah I abandoned my first character because of it
Even if you were being a turboretarded hypershitter that got a pure black world tendency by dying in human form repeatedly you can just join a private server to reset it to neutral or whatever it currently is on the server.
>>
>>750163267
I remember not being impressed with the dex weapon movesets and just general gameplay so WT wasn't my only reason to start over in its defense. Once you learn how it works it is a cool feature.
>>
>>750159940
>Because it forces you to think what you want to take with you
No it doesn't, you literally just unload all excess items every time you go to the Nexus. It's a complete nothing mechanic at best.
>>

I think it's a great mechanic to have a cheesy playthrough after you've beat the game like five times and go wikihunt to learn how to abuse the game mechanics and do stupid stuff like having Old King Doran's set on the early game.
Otherwise it's harmless and pretty irrelevant on a casual playthrough because everyone that played the game somehow learned that you go into the worlds in soul form and that's why the nexus had a giant fucking pool of blood on top of the stairs.
Especially if you used these things called "forums" where players would talk about the games they were playing and share advice.
>>
>>750158094
They should bring it back. It's cool.
