Every RPG will have minmaxed builds. It's the rest of the game that sets it apart, mostly pacing and itemization.Both D3 and D4 gets you to max level in an hour and showers you with gear and expects you to find the same gear but with a star on it.
Prior to the release of the expansion you really could get away with just whatever build, it wasn't until the expansion and the godly runewords were added that blizzard buffed the health of all enemies massivelyBut at that point the game had been out for years, so it didn't matter, people were happy to hunt for runes and new overpowered uniques. Not to mention some basic runewords like Spirit could carry you all the way to the end of the game.And of course PvP helped shape what people considered good in terms of items and builds, which later entities abandoned because they were trying to balance something that didn't really need it anyway + pay to win mechanics muddied the waters.I think it's still one of the best games ever made, even if you just play for 10 hours and see what the game has to offer in the Normal campaign.
