Im playing expert and im pretty far into chapter 2 im guessing, around level 19. Does anyone else feel like there was a difficulty spike with the esper fight and the fight with the *red boss*? Your mana pool just doesnt keep up with your needs on expert and you basically flail to the finish.
Lid has been doing dogshit damage for me unless I use magic boost on her every turn, even my healer is hitting harder, so I ended up making lid into my healslut and then giving terra to my fina. Firion seems pretty damned good when you get him. A lot of the enemies here seem to have a wind weakness and his transferrable Bladeblitz is really fucking nice. 0 MP all hitting attack that you can also pair with another one of his passives that makes all hitting attacks deal 10% more damage per enemy.

I've got that pair of passives on Rain, while Lasswell is currently equipped with Firion and the accessory from the prior chapter boss that makes non elemental physical attacks wind elemental. They've been tearing through the level 25 mobs SW of the major city for this chapter even though they were 5-6 levels lower for the first few fights.

Oh, and if anyone is in this chapter and needs gil, the beach by the little stretch of land where the mechanic sends you to kill Destroyers for Mechabo upgrades also spawns mini gil turtles at a decent rate.

But no damage increase is a pretty severe weakness, be it direct increases like 30% physical, or even crit increases like cloud being indirect damage increases
tidus gets 20% physical and 20% stagger as well as an offensive skill that braves himself, squall has 30% physical and magical
just 30% stagger and stagger to brave is definitely a huge damage loss unless you are pairing it with the noctis skill for 40% extra damage during bonus phase, which is a huge ask to have a lvl 7 noctis on top of it
