I just bought a 16:9 monitor for my pc... How the fuck am I supposed to do anything on this shit?! 4chan threads stretch so far wide that I have to zoom the page in settings and switch from full screen to windowed mode because I can't see shit I'm reading and it is the same thing for games. I am already sitting at an arm's length from the screen, how far am I supposed to sit so everything is in focus?! 3 meters?! Why humanity switched from royal 4:3 to these shitty dimensions? With 4:3 all the visual information is condensed right in front of you, you don't need to move your eyes miles to the left or right, and on top of that such monitors take less space on the table.
And fifteen years ago I thought curved wide screens were an incredible innovation that would improve gaming, what a joke.

That's cool bro.

Nigger got tunnel vision

16:10 rapes everything else, but sadly that got phased out in favour of 16:9. 2160p with 1* scaling is perfectly readable though. Maybe your eyesight got raped.

He should stay there, if at all possible... and maybe bring us back with him.

Modern monitors are designed for people with functioning eyes in mind.

eh it'll vary depending on how close to the desk I am, if reclined, etc., and the monitor is on an arm so I can move it
but just now I measured at about 34" (86cm) from the center (it's curved)

Not OP, but yeah. Some of us have fucked up vision and 4:3 is a godsend. My father got me a 21:9 monitor for my birthday a few years ago and I hated it to be honest.

Wide screen is a meme and I don't understand why people just accepted it. Now I'm using a 16:9 with shitty refresh rate meant for offices and its slightly better. But I will get my 4:3 from a thrift store eventually.

Exactly lmao. I only play VNs and turn-based strategy games, so shooters are a no-go for me.

explain, zoomer.

It's the opposite. The predator has a high fov seen by both eyes so they use a widescreen monitor, while the prey has a narrow fov seen by both eyes so they need a 4:3 monitor.
