>>750166463>haven't seen an advertisement for anything in 20 yearsBased, been doing this for 3 years now and it's been great. I know what I want and where to get it

>Coworker starts talking
>>750166463> I haven't seen an advertisement for anything in 20 years.Would you be surprised to learn almost half of ads are using generative AI now?
>>750166463It's so liberating to not have to keep up with contemporary shit. If I was a conspiracy theorist I'd think the effort to demonize imagination in adults for damn well half a century or more was done to make them reliant on outside consumption. The only area I am 100% reliant on that is musically. I mean just think about the fact that if I were to say >I cherish my imagination and appreciate it immensely, I don't need to rely on movies or TV shows to be entertained.I sound like some retarded schizophrenic with an imaginary friend named Ruddlefuddlemiks.
>coworker asks me about celebrity crushes>can't think of a single female actor's name so I just list off a bunch of goblin-looking male actors like Willem Dafoe, Bill Murray and Danny DeVitoPretty sure all my coworkers think I'm gay.

>>750168725>on the fucking videogame board of all placesYou realize we're on /v/ right. The place where nobody fucking plays games they just bitch about them
>>750162926Cause most normalfags are superficial about the kind of media they enjoy. “I like sci-fi” just translates to Star Wars dogshit. “I like movies” is just codeword for blockbuster superhero dogshit.
>>750162982"I play games."That is my answer to that statement.
>>750162926You can’t admit what you actually like if you have interests that aren’t the type of thing a normalfag understands. If you get asked about vidya, say the most socially acceptable thing possible.
>>750162861I learned the other day that my CEO was a big Baldur's Gate fan and we talked about it for a bit. It was pretty cool.
>>750162926Anyone that goes outside has at most a slither of a fraction of my power level. Like discussing metaphysics with a 6 year old.
>just want to show up, do my job and go home>boss keeps pestering me to socialize more and be more talkativeWhy does being quiet bothers normalfags so much?
>coworker tells me he is a hardcore gamer>"i have all the camos in call of duty"
>>750168687This is always a trap question. Like “What kind of music do you listen to?” They don’t want your honest opinion. They’re testing to see if you know the socially acceptable answer.
>>750169321Because most people are conformists and are doing what everyone else is doing because they're afraid to be themselves. When you are a quiet person around conformists they get nervous or worried because they don't know why you aren't conforming and putting on a fake face like they do which makes you stand out and standing out you get unwanted attention. It sucks but you'll just have to deal with it. Most people are terrified useful idiots who wouldn't think twice about throwing you under the bus if it meant they got a reward for doing so.
>>750162861>yeah i play call of duty on my ps4 and things like that sometimes that's all you have to say, i don't even have a ps4
>>750162926Because it reveals that your friends/coworkers are normies with shit taste
>>750169467It's not a trap question for me, I really want to knowI listened to a few songs from a band one of my coworkers recommended, I didn't really like them but I gave them an honest try...

What is it with Americans and their incredibly retarded stance on socializing with coworkers? If you are gonna waste 8 hours of your life outside your home and loved ones, why not make it better for yourself?
So is the job market fixed yet?
im a hypernerd who also enjoys sports, so i dont have any issues connecting with the normalfags
>>750162926Most the time the topic of video games comes up, most people gloss over the moment you mention something that isn't flavor of the month or multiplayer slop or the recent most popular singleplayer game.
>>750162926vidya is a childish waste of time
>>750171285Anon, you're on a dead board and dead site with autistic retards who can't socialzie and you think this is somehow indicative of an entire nation?
>>750167968I recoil like a vampire who sees sunlight every time I visit relatives who actually watch TV with ads.
>coworkers talking about video games>hey, anon do you play games>No.Never tell your coworkers about your personal life, they'll only use it against you the first chance they get.
>try to have conversations with coworkers.>first time I always manage to hold a conversation but it’s an exhausting effort, the conversation almost dies multiple times if I don’t sustain it, and by the end I’ve burnt it burnt through all my conversation topics.>next time I see them I have literally nothing to say because I’ve already exhausted all my conversation topics and I’ve most likely forgotten almost everything we spoke about.>at the same time I repeatedly see all these same coworkers being friendly and having conversations with each other like it’s nothing.>I’m completely baffled because as far as I can tell their lives are as boring and empty as mine, with going to work, exercising, and watching TV being how the bulk of their time is spent.I don’t get it. How do people do it? I’m the point where I don’t even bother trying to talk to anyone because I know it’s just gonna end with things being really awkward the next time we speak, and I know it’s not because I’m weird or ugly because they do seem receptive and engage the first time we talk, it’s just follow up conversations are always awful.
>join video game company>zero coworkers enjoy video games
>>750171752
>>750171968You're thinking a conversation topic has to be deepIt can be just "this happened to me the other day, i thought it was funny/sad/annoying"And no, you don't need to come to a consensus on it and it doesn't have to be something you're trying to blow their mind with, it can just be an amusement to pass a few minutes
>>750162926Because normalfags
>>750162926Online you can quarantine yourself with only people who share your niche interests and thus you don't need to explain anything, you all already share most of the same tastes. In person, you're likely to be totally mismatched with nearly every person you meet. They don't know any of the memes/exformation so you're afraid of embarrassing yourself constantly and don't know where to begin. That's why it's so unremarkable to meet people online that share every single interest as you, but so incredible when you meet someone irl that has even a few similar favorites.

>coworker blasts ai slop music on speakers so I had to start wearing headphonesThank God that retard quit.
>>750171326Fixed? It hasn't even begun to really hit the fan yet.
>>750162926because you're scared of emotionally opening yourself up and potentially becoming vulnerable so your topics about personal interests remain shallow.
>>750163028That's why you should always keep a pre-meditated answer handy. Just say you plan on repainting your room or something.
>>750171968>burnt through all MY conversation topicsHere is where you are wrong. I am an extremely anti-social autist, but keeping conversation with someone is very easy for me. Most people are very narcissistic and are more than willing to blab on and on about whatever it is they want to talk about. All you have to do is feign interest, smile occasionally and maintain eye contact. If they are talking about something you know, pretend to not know very much about it, ask open ended questions and use your inside knowledge to steer the conversation, dont be a know it all. It shuts down conversation.>it’s just follow up conversations are always awful.Try to remember a few things about the person. Did they mention that their pet was sick? Did they go try a new restaurant? Did they watch the new movie they were talking about? All these things show that you pay attention and are someone who cares (whether you actually do or not doesnt matter), people will open up to you more and conversation becomes even easier from there. It might seem psychopathic but its how I survived working a job where social interaction is a constant.
>>750173456You're not autistic. Being gay and liking anime does not make you autistic.

>>750162926Nigga please, do you know what normalfags are doing nowadays? Making fake purchases at online stores so they get "retail therapy" without spending actual money to do so. I never want to hear shit from anyone ever again, when that is a level of pathetic no video game could ever hope to reach.>yeah, but what about-No. Fake purchasing to feel good. With literally nothing to show for it. At least with any game you have an experience you can talk about, for better and/or worse. What can you say about this bullshit, though? "haha, look at all this stuff I didn't actually buy, guys!" Pure manipulation.

My brain can only draw blanks. This is probably because I find other people to be very uninteresting.>just talk about your interestsAgain, nothing comes to mind, because my brain assumes that other people find me uninteresting much like I find them such, so it gives me blanks.I spend so much effort avoiding being isolated with other people just because then I'd be forced to carry a one-one-one conversation.

>>750182018As a fellow introvert, the "just ask questions" thing is garbage advice. The key is to give your opinion about stuff. Tell me what conversation you think flows better:You:"What did you do this weekend?"Coworker:"Nothing much, just played some games."You:"Oh, what games?"Coworker:"Mostly Counter-Strike."(now you're out of questions)Or:You:"What did you do this weekend?"Coworker:"Nothing much, just played some games."You:"Honestly, that's a pretty good weekend. I've been playing [your game] lately, but I feel like I spend more time deciding what to play than actually playing anything."Coworker:"Haha, yeah, I do that too."(now you can naturally branch the conversation in many directions)

When I told her SMB2 was an outlier and a reskin of another game, she seemed stunned and went "Well, I guess I'll have to do some more research."
>>750190635This level of autism deserves poking at.
>>750190635I once tried to convince my mom that we were all sperm mechs, and that if you found and destroyed the the one true sperm you would drop dead.
>>750190483I have a distinct memory of being in line to buy Smash 3DS and two people behind me were talking about TF2, one of the was adamant Disney owned Valve. I still have no idea what he was on.
>Only coworkers I'm friends with are a 60 year old woman who said she would try to bang me if wasn't for her health conditions I'd probably say yes and two girls my age who don't want to bang me.I managed to talk to one of the IT guys about Balatro once but that's it, I wish I had a fellow autist to talk with.
>>750172470Real niggas that about movie directors. Directors make or break a project, see s1 of the walking dead and mind hunter, directed by the same guy
>>750170280Fat lie. Being a dick to who is quiet is prime anti social behavior
>>750169730Is having a sister the gateway to good friends?
>>750190483Sometimes but sadly 90% of normies just accept everything they see on social media as true. I have a coworker who spends her whole lunch watching the most retarded tiktoks and I thought they were a joke but she takes them completely seriously. "SCIENTISTS USED AI TO TALK TO SQUIRRELS AND WHAT THEY HAD TO SAY ABOUT GOD WILL BLOW YOUR MIND!"My favorite (in a depressed, suicide inducing sort of way) was the day she was crying and I asked what was wrong and she showed me a video about "The great Bering Strait Horse Migration" and she was so sad that out of the 8.5 million horses that cross the Bering Strait every spring when it freezes over, over half die from exposure... and then her coworker friends thought it was real too and got sad... "Anon you read science stuff and news all the time, how have you never heard of this?"The difficult truth is that most people are functionally retarded and we've replaced beatings and the fear of God with social media self-reinforcement.
>>750191182Who said he was being a dick howeverAll we've got to go in is the guy saying he was being 'pestered', which considering the people here, could mean something as light as just being asked "why don't you talk more often" a single time
>>750171968>>750182018Poor memory recall and possible anxiety + skill issue as other anon pointed out, most probably due to lack of socialization as a kidt. anxious ADHD haver
>>750182189>Mostly Counter-StrikeNow you just comment on it. You are overthinking it
>>750169321Most normal people see talking as a fun thing for both parties. Like imagine if everyone had half a christmas cracker, and could only open it with someone else, and you would both get good things for opening it. If you turn them down they think you're just some kind of asshole.t. Chameleon
>>750162926Because everyone else has the wrong opinions.
only ugly people are afraid of coming off as nerdy or weird. if you're good looking no one will think less of you for being into niche things. usually the opposite just look good bro
>>750187292>a spynigga what
>>750183564Missed out on getting goth gf(male) Maybe it's better this way.
I have never heard anyone sound so worked up about something than my coworker gets when talking about Helldivers.
>coworkers know im the company weirdo>they know I dont know a lot of things like current shows or musicians>only talk to me about funny work stuffIts nice
>>750164068Based. Where do you work?
>>750191432maybe true but good looking people tend not to know anything about the medium anywayit's often a very shallow interest or understanding but nerd shit is in as mainstreamso they're in for the clout or money
>coworkers talk in every language except englishStay in school kids.
>>750192534>fake frankenstein languageshame we're all cucked to use it
>>750163028
>>750190635>she seemed stunned and went "Well, I guess I'll have to do some more research."that was actually a top 0.1% foid that acknowledges her shortcomings
Man 4chan is just full of miserable people who are never going to change and die alone.
>>750192589Learning that Modern English is like 50% French loanwords and retains basically nothing from Old English really fucked me up desu.
>please 4chan validate my opinions Aren’t you kinda old to live like a 9th grader?

>>750182471>Indiana Jones trilogy and back to the futureI feel like this has to be the most Reddit taste possible, but whatever, continue.
I dno I'm always honest but I was at a job for 6 months where after the initial introduction I never spoke 10/12 guys if it wasnt about the job. I had absolutely nothing in common with the x generation guys. One guy played elden ring and some vidya. Mostly I just tried to pry if he was interested in an upcoming game but 90% of the time it went nowhere. I'm not autistic at all but people dont really do anything on weekdays.
>>750174362>What's he looking up atGod.
>>750163028What the fuck do normalfags even do? Like I don't even understand what an acceptable week would be in normieland, thought I assume it's very different depending on profession and if you have a family or whatnot.
