I always hate how either>bad thing has no consequenceor>good thing lets you have your cake and eat it too and gives you more contentMass Effect had this problem, BG3 had this problem. I think Bloodstained curse of the moon is one of the only games that did it right. give me a problem that can only be solved by being evil. give me more power with actual consequences (fuck you tadpoles) for being evil so I feel like I have to do bad things to win. There is no good and evil without temptation
Best choice in all of Mass Effect is "Sell Legion for 50.000 Credits" before you activate him in Mass Effect 2.50.000 credits is actual money in that game, that you can use to buy tech and armor upgrades that actually matter if you're playing on higher difficulties, and if you don't really feel like placating every character in the game you can just do that, get the renegade points and get the money. Then Legion shows up in Mass Effect 3 as a mind-controlled Cerberus Geth if I recall.
...and Tali's mission is a goldmine for alternative outcomes. You can fail her trial and not get her loyalty, or get her loyalty. But you can also win the trial but not get her loyalty, or both, because she cares about her dad's reputation which you can tarnish. And if you're too weak to overturn the evidence against her with roleplaying points, there's a middle option that says [Rally the crowd], which then counts how many Quarians are present in the area whom you've met and helped earlier in the game. A neutral dialogue option that actually matters more than Paragon or Renegade for once. Kal'Reegar can die if you let him go against the Geth in the recruitment level, because he has suit rupture, so there's a 50% chance he doesn't make it. Veetor from earlier in the game could've been given temporarily to Cerberus for study, whichi leaves him scarred and not in your favor. A random quarian on some side-mission can be helped. I can't remember if that matters or not... but if you have enough there, and pick the middle option you see each of them talk if they vouch for you, and that wins the trial regardless of evidence, and that's basically the perfect outcome.
>careful diplomacy
>>750184868Why wasn't there a "spank them both" option to solve the Jack and Miranda conundrum?
>>750185280If you played ME1 you have enough credits for everything anyway, especially with the DLC >>750185518same for shart and frog. Actually>spank them both would have 100% resolved their problems. fucking Lae'zel is such a fucking sub in game. At one point you can find the creche and she'll be like >I'm not leaving, I'll be here for when you want to go to the creche and if you intimidate her she'll basically tell you you made her wet and do what you want
>>750184868>Being a pacifist is not only easier, you get more exp for doing it, making the easy-ness snowballWhat the actual fuck were they thinking?
>>750184868Dark Souls unironically does allowing evil better than almost all other role playing games. You can just kill just about everyone, and can actually uniquely benefit in a number of ways from doing so, but this just leads to the natural consequences of that, with allies of anyone you killed attacking you and you ultimately being alone and without help, which fucks you over, but in ways you can deal with if you know what you're doing.
The reward for doing good things in an RPG should only be a smug sense of superiority, never content.
