The progression isn't level based so building your character up piece by piece, tier over tier until you get to the point of perfecting your build. The amount of skill expression is insane as well, the game is best played with friends or strangers, but you can solo it too and some people say it's a fulfilling experience. I wouldn't know about that and kind of disagree with it but I'd highly recommend giving the series a go. Just know that fighting the same monster to get that super rare drop is core to the gameplay loop and is the reason people can dump hundreds of hours into each one. Results may vary
