this doesn't change any of the balance, it just means that if you're a hyper autist and want to completely remove quality from the game you can. Previously you couldn't in space age because the quality mod was required for recyclers, which are required for fulgora.

yeah but what the hell do you do with that ice if you're not sticking it in looping recyclers?

>>
>>750195258
Nigger they couldn't even make 4 different planets interesting, and even after comitting to developing an extra update which took TWO more years they had seemingly zero ideas for improving even the existing ones.
Factorio simply isn't suited to having these kinds of "puzzle" gimmick planets in a way that doesn't feel extremely gimmicky.
>>
>>750201654
excuse me, are you equating wanting things to be cheaper with being a detestable Indian?
>>
>good changes for both Quality haters and lovers!
>nothing that makes quality better, just remove it
lmao admitting defeat
>>
>>750202130
whining about a $35 game being to expensive is poorfag behavior especially since the game more than earns its price tag. whining about them increasing the price is newfag behavior. both are on the same tier of poojeet.
>>
>>750202203
okay genius, how would you fix it without removing it
>>
>>750202276
Right, but people can be poor without being Indian, people can want prices to be lower without being poor or new. Injecting Indians into every aspect of life suggests a mental illness.
I pirated the DLC so it doesn't affect me either way
>>
>>750202789
i will continue to call people indian, even when they aren't as an insult if you don't mind.
>>
>>750202789
>Injecting Indians into every aspect of life suggests a mental illness.
It suggests paid shills working a political angle
>>
>>750202203
they never said this
>>
>>750202789
It’s the new meta for leftists who want to engage in right wing discourse without instantly being outed as a leftist. Racism against Indians is an acceptable compromise because they’re one of the wealthiest ethnic groups and schmooze with other richies instead of smoking crackfent and raping white girls
>>
>>750194830
Very nice. I'll buy it when it goes on sale
>>
>>750202203
They admitted it pretty much from the very start. People have given them an enormous mountain of feedback and the only thing they've done is just nerf one specific recipe they didn't like.

>>750202776
The biggest one is finding a way to make mixed quality recipe inputs possible.
>b-but it's hard to balance!
I don't care, find a way.
Failing that, allow higher quality inputs to go into low quality recipes. Maybe with a UI toggle or some shit for the people who complain about accidentally voiding an uncommon iron ore or whatever, but point is your factory should not completely fucking deadlock because you just unlocked quality modules in the early game and decided to play around with them out of curiosity.
Also remove Epic as a tier because nobody rebuilds their entire gambling line between gleba and aquilo, at most you do some Rare gambling then you finish the game and go for Legendary.

Also find a way to make quality not extremely fucking boring when the solution to everything is just "place a machine making the product of each quality tier facing a recycler, add some requester and supplier chests, and collect the legendary output after a while", repeat 100x for each item you want to upscale. Asteroid casino was at least a different and novel way to get legendary basic materials, and also engaged with the asteroid content more which I thought the devs should be happy with, then you built a dozen "normal" casino setups for the planet-specific stuff. But no, everything has to follow the standard template now.

>>750203475
The exact quote is
>Some changes for both lovers and haters of Quality.
you autist
>>
>>750204064
>they’re one of the wealthiest ethnic groups and schmooze with other richies
t. delusional brownoid

Your point isn't even wrong, but the actual reason for that is that pajeets are so revolting that even leftists have agreed that racism can be good sometimes, not because "they're rich" or whatever lmao

This is just because indians only come to the US for H1B scams, so there are no indians working minimum wage retail or service or warehouse type slave jobs. Those are all back in indian surviving on 2 rupees per month.
Check the statistics for Canada, which doesn't rely on tech job scamming for its pajeet immigration, or the UK whose immigration has been going on for a while so there's no super recent political bias to it.

Vivek and Kash are politicians and not even that rich, leftists obviously hate them for being republicans. Nobody cares about Satya or whoever the Microsoft guy is or any of the actually rich jeets, except for jeets themselves screaming "we are CEO saar".

thanks for taking your time to fetch that url.
the takeway from your timestamp is that kovarex is thinking about making factorio open-source after things have quieted down, which he says could be 1-2 years after the space age DLC.

however just because 2.1 released 2 years after the DLC it doesn't mean that it is the final update, and i wouldn't say things have quieted down either. so i won't hold my breath about factorio going open-source anytime soon and i also won't think 2.1 stable is actually the final update.

Gleba's science pack should not yield less science above 50% freshness.
That alone would shut most people up about how gay it is.
The science production requires highly fresh bioflux and you only get that if the first thing you're doing is turning both fruits into mash and immediately into bioflux.
So the science is 'easy' but the logistics of moving it fast enough and at the right time can be annoying as fuck.
Solving for egg hatching is trivial, if you think about it for more than a minute.
But yeah Gleba is not a bad planet, It's just not as well put together as the others. It was rushed, simply put.
>>
>>750228884
I'd be happy with either a freshness reset on the science pack being crafted or paused decay on the ship.
>>
>>750228884

>>
>>750229250
That's not the same as optimizing fruit consumption and reducing waste.
I get noobs don't understand how Gleba works, so they just think having infinite resources is the same as infinite production, but It's not.

I've been on the fence about buying this game for years. Back when I had a j*b I said it looks cool but I just don't have the time to play it. Now that I'm unemployed, single, and have one friend IRL, I have all the time in the world to play it, but I feel like I should be learnmaxxing and shit instead of playing videogames all day.
>>
>>750231040
go in blind and retarded, it's genuinely more fun that way. learning IS fun.

Is this a game that you're supposed to mod or should I just go in vanilla for a first playthrough?

Anon, you haven't played Gleba, have you?
Go play the planet and actually experiment and see what your 'bottleneck' is when you're using Productivity modules and how much of your fruit is wasted from being turned into nutrients you don't need which spoil.

On Gleba, you can do a lot of things before you can chalk up your fruit production into an even average. Circuits can be used very effectively on Gleba to save freshness and get more from less.

But you seem to not know this. It wouldn't kill you to actually play the game and figure this shit out, man.
>>
>>750231435
i loved gleba; as i do not suffer from any dianosable developmental disorders i found the planet to be entirely enjoyable
>>
>>750231581
Why did you ignore the point I was making? Are you saying you don't understand what I'm talking about and you just thought the planet was good without actually trying to optimize it?
Just say that, then.
And It's not like I'm saying Gleba is shit. I'm saying it was rushed out, which it absolutely was.
We had 12 fruits at the lan party before launch.
They reduced it down to two, and there wasn't much time at all between the lan party and the expansion releasing. Gleba is the result of rushed development. You might like it, and that's fine, but there are plenty of valid criticisms to make about Gleba. You would know this if you weren't huffing its farts like some sort of pseudo-intellectual.

Genuinely, it's that autistics don't like timers in games. Any kind of limitation like that even if it is completely irrelevant isn't something people with autism like. Even if it doesn't matter at all, even if it's easy to overcome, even if you're given every opportunity to play around. Like how /v/ posters to this day will bitch and whine about the turn limits in XCOM 2.

Just obsessive neurotic behaviour. The problem is with those players, not the game.

That said, there was a thing or two about the implementation of spoilage on Gleba which wasn't particularly amazing. Like how the craft time of bioflux and the biochamber buffer of inputs meant that biochambers would always cause a bunch of spoilage of your 15 minute fruits because they would just sit in the biochambers waiting to be actually used in the recipe if you didn't intentionally set your inserters to limit each biochamber to only hold the exact amount of shit they were currently using. That being a default interaction of the game which caused a significant amount of spoilage which then transferred into your science packs is a bit silly.

No, you're just the one seething about it.
>>
>>750232052
the nuts don't degrade any faster inside the biochamber than outside though
>>
>>750202082
I just dislike the way planets were done as a linear progression path. I think planets should've been alternate starts with their own method of production and then you expand to other ones to grab their unique research. Like up to blue science could be done from the start anywhere, but planet unique science was why you traveled elsewhere as you went.

Planets other than Gleba not having their own major threats and barriers to advancement though was a major problem. I was extremely disappointed by Aquilo, I thought we'd have an interesting struggle against the environment only to find it was trivial.

There's a few things you can do to make your fruits last longer.
Here's an example, if you're processing fruit and putting it on a belt, the longer that belt the more fruit you consume. If you keep the processed fruit as close to the unperishable output of the crafting process, the less fruit you consume and more fresh you can ensure your bioflux is depending on where you put it.
There's a lot to Gleba that a lot of people don't seem to understand.
The order of operations is so important there, because if you decide to make science your last crafted product, it will be absolutely shit.
Science needs to come first. Right next to your Bioflux, basically.
And even then, you can use circuit logic to make it so that your agriculture towers only take as much as your factory needs with some conditions.
If you make them just take as much as they can and plop it on a belt or train as much as they can support at a time, that's just going to create a bigger spore cloud and yield less fresh science.
So you see, there's actually a lot to Gleba.
I like it, but people don't really understand how it works, it seems.
>>
>>750232236
Your first biochamber buffer gets filled and starts decaying before any fruit reaches the second biochamber.
>>
>>750194830
So what actually changed between the DLC releasing and now?
>>
>>750232750
They begrudgingly changed the platform width affecting speed near the end.
They're such stubborn assholes, I bet that irked them quite a bit.
About fucking time, though.
>>
>>750232236
Mash decays 20 times faster than the fruit and 40 times faster than the bioflux, and you need to mash the fruit in order to add it to the biochamber. Where it sits and decays. It only takes a short time for that decay to significantly reduce the spoilage percentage of your science packs (18 seconds delay is 5+% less science)
>>
>>750232750
Bugfixes and a bunch of circuit improvements, like assemblers sending signal to a specific wire.
>>
>>750222143
Landfill is too expensive for the amount of waterlogged land.
I just created a weak laser fence around my spore cloud. The expansion forces of the pentapods never seem to be stronger than wigglers, which lasers are more than enough for.

Gleba is the only interesting thing about space age.
Vulcanus is literally nauvis with some modded drills and an irrelevant enemy. Fulgora is moderately interesting but completely trivialised by bots, unless you're doing a self-imposed challenge run. Aquilo is literally just a boring gimmick minigame. Gleba is the only one that actually completely changes the way you build factories; everything else in Factorio is purely based on throughput alone, but Gleba suddenly forces you to think about latency.
>>
>>750233328
Bots are literally the worst way to solve Fulgora. It's easy, but inefficient.

Did anyone notice Fulgoran mining outposts often look like mutie birds perching on a wire?
>>
>>750234429
How so? Unlike gleba, where bots might grab randomised freshness and result in suboptimal science, on fulgora there's literally no downside to bots.
I guess maybe if you're building gigabase levels then the throughput might become an issue. But I think the current gigabase design uses direct mining into train chests or something cursed like that anyway, it definitely doesn't do priority splitter based belt sorting.
>>
>>750234429
Fulgora is very fun to belt, I don't get why fags resort to bots lmao.
I guess they're retarded, like the fags who filter shit on Gleba using bots.
>>
>>750235891
>resort to bots
Bots are the default solution to every problem. Why resort to belts?
>>
Besides refrigeration for Gleba, I think Aquilo could be more interesting if they not only kept those jelly monsters as enemies, but also another hazard: constant meteors. The jelly monsters crave heat, that goes for your base and the meteors that fall constantly on Aquilo due to the many fragments of the destroyed planet, so meteors cause damage in a area, but also heat that area for a bit. Then rework railguns so they can 'point' upwards but have more or less the same effect as Fulgora's lightning rods to not worry about meteors anymore. And also use the refrigeration tech to make cryo weapons.to keep the jellies away and have some fun shattering pentapods and bitters.

So the Fulgorians were bird people? That explain the lack of remains, bird bones are hollow and as such hard to fossilize.
>>
>>750236610
You say that, but Aquillo doesn't naturally have a way to make and maintain ammunition passively like any of the other planets can.
So if you run out of ammo the brain-floating enemy that seeks out heat can just get a free run of your base and shut it down.
If they added a special ammo recipe for aquillo, that would have been cool, but they pretty much gave up on that.
It sucks balls, I wish they had fucking done something more with Aquillo.
>>
>>750236610
>rework railguns so they can 'point' upwards
I wish I could do the opposite with artillery and make an orbital bombardment platform. You have to fucking ship out shells/tungsten to nauvis now anyway at least let me have fun with them.
