No i think its because they overtook movies in profitability and risk adverse investments in 2007 and a bunch of old media from the epstein crowd bought in because they saw what a profitable beachhead for their propaganda machine it was and over time this turned into all the culture war horseshit where nobody cares about quality as much as being "right" about things that have nothing to do with videogames.
