The first non babby game I ever played was Neverwinter Nights with my older brother. We couldn't get co-op working and sadly he had to leave for overseas, but the game remained installed on our computer, so I started playing it myself. This was the game that taught me most of my English, introduced me to Jeremy Sovle, and is the reason I am such a nerd today. I spent so much time in that world, not just in the campaigns but also messing about in the DM client and making the town guards fight Balors and Dragons. Through NWN I discovered the world of CRPGs as a whole, Baldurs Gate, Icewind Dale, Arcanum, Planescape, Fallout, Ultima, KOTOR, Avernum, Geneforge, Nethergate, Ultima, Gothic, Elder Scrolls, Dragon Age Origins, Mass Effect, Volition games Summoner, Deus Ex. Even though I didn't like the direction it and many other CRPG developers were heading towards in recent years, I will always be thankful for the world BioWare introduced me to, the adventures it took me on, and the dreams it put in my otherwise plain and simple head. Rest in peace.

the bioware that shut down is not the company that made neverwinter nights
the company that made neverwinter nights died the day EA bought it
where the fuck have you been for the last two decades?

No, it died when Ray and Greg left.

I played some of the NWN modules recently, specifically Darkness over Daggerford and Tyrants of the Moonsea, and these fuckers felt like actual full-length RPGs far more than mere modules.
>>
>>750200176
Speaking of which, why isn't there a modern nwn? What's so difficult about it?

I really want to try NWN someday. I've tried getting my buddy who I played through the Divinity OS games with to get on board but he's allergic to anything that looks older than 2013 for some reason.

I haven't gotten around to DoD, but I really enjoyed Tyrants of the Moonsea. I think I spent at least 30 hours on it.

Is it possible to upload a custom portrait in Neverwinter Nights for Switch?
>>
>>750203582
Seriously I thought it was going to be a pretty sure typical expansion, fucker was HUGE, an actual full-fledged RPG campaign held back ONLY by graphics
>>
>>750203852
Unfortunately, no.
>>
>>750201924
For me to tjis day not a single modern game holds a candle even to the original campaign , playing the prison arc while listening to System of a Down will.never be peaked

Thanks dodged a bullet there.

All I can think of is that with it being an online RPG, companies tend to think of it as MMO adjacent, and some probably ended up trying to make their own MMO instead.

Nwn was the last bioware game i played. I didnt like it at all so i never bought another bioware game
>>
>>750202661
Just play it and get into the modules, my dude. NWN Vault has shitload of fun single player adventures that shit on OC.
>>
>>750206717
I think it's just WOTC doesn't want a competition on their modernslop especially with their movie flopping.

Activist with money
>>
>>750206940
Suspicious that the site doesn't let you sort modules by popularity or rating.
>>
>>750207365
That was an issue when Bioware was working on the original NWN. On the forums, you weren't allowed to talk about persistent worlds at all because WotC didn't want any competition with their upcoming D&D MMO.
If I were to make a NWN successor, I'd make it D&D compatible but come up with new content so I wouldn't have to work with them at all. Then modders could just add in all the D&D stuff themselves and we could have a proper online D&D game again. WotC can't sue you for what modders make.

Neverwinter Nights was shit and the beginning of the end. should have stuck with Infinity Engine style games.

Community modules saved it.

Shit's older than coal at this time, plus most content was rated long time ago on earlier version of the webpage and when it migrated ca. 2014 alot of data went to shit. There are top modules list (named Hall of Fame, that you can access through banners on the left side of the main page) as from before the migration and you should follow it when it comes to the really ancient ones.
>>
>>750200373
but they didn't. that was made 24 years ago. and then in 2018 a good portion of the original employees that worked on it gave you an Enhanced Edition.

NWN clerics are so fun. They can just do it all. Awesome caster, solid melee, best buffs. They're broken and I love it. Only game where clarics excel so fucking much.
