I'm trying to give Darkwood a second chance, even though I bounced off of it the first time I played a few years ago. I love horror, and the game is overflowing with atmosphere, but I'm still struggling to vibe with the actual gameplay as I get to the Silent Forest. The game seems like it wants me to board up the windows and bunker down at night, but my friends in the forest don't really give a shit about my barricades, and now that they've killed me a handful of times, the magic is sort of gone; it's less scary than annoying.

Did I get too old for eastern euro-jank games? I'm not sure I care enough to see this one through to the end...

There's a new Suikoden anime airing and I've never played the games, so I picked up Suikoden I & II. lmao this box art

Having fun with 1 so far, though it is much more basic than I expected. Even though it's a PS1 game and was released later, it's well below the level of earlier SNES games like FF6 or CT. But I do like the whole setting of building up an entire rebellion army one follower at a time. I guess there's like over a hundred different playable characters, Chrono Cross eat your heart out.

Prepping myself for a comfy Fall/Winter with these games

Finished Sea of Stars yesterday, good game but it's so boring despite the beautiful music and art style, combat is very basic. No idea if I should bother to get the true ending. Also finished Gears of War 1 (XB360), had lots of fun.

Currently enjoying Bleak Faith: Forsaken, Alan Woke and Evil West on PS5; DOOM 3, Toy Story Retro Round Up and Resident Evil 3 Remake on Switch 2; and also playing Gears of War E-Day, New Super Lucky Tale, and Beast of Reincarnation on Xbox Series X and 40 Winks on a Hacked 3DS

Sony fucked up hard in my country and I got God of War III remastered, Knack II and Medievil Deluxe for less than $2.

Also I got tons of games recently, mostly physical games for Switch 2, I bought Pokémon Legends Z-A, Metroid Dread, Metroid Prime 4, Mario Tennis Aces, Kirby Star Allies and Yoshi's Crafted World.

Just finished Ace Combat 8, definitely my goty.
I generally don't care about graphics but the game is beautiful (on pc at least, no performance issues on a 4080), sound and music are solid, plot is compelling. The dialog is a bit corny at times but the characters are memorable.
Will likely try 7 or figure out a way to emulate 5 next.

I'm rolling between SMT5 Vengeance, Total Warhammer 3, and Divinity Original Sin 2 at the moment.
It's been almost two weeks since the last time I played Divinity, though. I feel like I need to play it a bit in the next day or two, or I'm going to fall off it completely. I finally, after almost a decade, finished act 1, so I don't want to lose this playthrough now. I feel it slipping away.
But... I've been having fun with SMT. I played 5 back when it came out, but dropped it at the very end because I just wasn't compelled by the writing. The new story still isn't amazing, but it's at least a bit better, and I'm having fun autistically building demons and planning out fusions 10, 20 levels ahead.
Warhammer, I started a Nagash campaign when the DLC dropped, I'm well into it, but my turns have slowed to a crawl. On the one hand, Nagash is incredible. Such a strong economy and incentive for aggressive expansion is cool, and I actually have like, 8 fronts active at once, with battles I actually need to fight, and the caps & sigils mean my armies are actually distinct and fun to pilot. But... turns are so looooong and I have seen some new mods come out, and updates to old ones that I want to try. Kinda decision paralysis there, starting to get a bit overwhelming.

My wife has been building an interesting conceptual scenario in minecraft I've been helping a bit with, as well. It's not a way I've approached minecraft in the past, trying to create an image of gameplay in motion, but it's interesting, even if I don't fully comprehend her vision for it.

It's rare for me to have so many games I'm actively playing at once, I typically only have one or two going at a time. Four is kinda ridiculous.

Honestly Im sort of locked to my bed. Between grad school and work I am busy literally 7 days a week. My workout schedule is obliterated but its there. The last FF I played was 6, so I might finally play some others. Someone said 9 so I got that, we'll see how it goes.
Played Frostpunk, it was pretty alright. I did the New Home scenario, and though I fucked some things up mostly I felt it was easy. The problem is with those kind of games that I don't feel the need to go through the same old tech tree progression.
I have Stellaris but I got really fed up with it after about an hour, and haven't felt the urge to play it since. Enjoyed CK2 a ton, CK3 less so. There's a bunch of games like Endless Something, Distant Worlds, Galactic Civ. I have no idea if any will scratch that itch. Cities: Skylines was ok but as comfy as it was at first, I just can't be bothered after awhile with no real challenge or fail state.

Since it's autumn and I've already replayed 1-3, I might finally replay Quest for Glory 4.
Open to any recommendations even if they seem unrelated to any of this but you think I might like it, I like other kinds of games too, mostly CRPGs in the past.

I liked Songs of Conquest, it did somewhat feel like a Heroes3 successor. I ended up drifting off it though, nothing particularly put me off but nothing really amazed me either. Disco Elysium is great.

Finished both psp gow games and midnight club L.A for the billionth time. Now playing midnight club 3 dub edition remix, astro boy and loco roco.

Playing some horror games until WoW: Forever releases (which I’ll play until the end of the year). I played Outlast today, it was alright but I just ended up running away from everything instead of hiding and waiting for them to leave since you can’t fight back but your health recovers over time. I definitely prefer horror games where you can fight back, which most of the rest of the games on my list allow.

I'm in Europe so we use slightly different terminology but I work TWR and also APP which I assume is basically TRACON. APP for us is the entire TMA including sequencing for final. I have papers for both so depending on my shift that day I'll be in either position for my AD.

um I dunno I played openxcom for the first time 10 years ago after having played the firaxis xcom and didn't have a problem with it. Yeah it's less streamlined than the new one and you have to manage multiple bases and send production and items between them but it allows you much more freedom on how to play.

Xenonauts is cool as well but most people agree the old xcom was better than it overall. The plane battles get extremely repetitive towards the middle of the campaign and it's always the same ufos attacking on a set schedule every 2 or 3 days
