Nobody actually enjoys gaming like this.
>>
I love it, but 14" screens are a bit too small for my liking.
>>
>>750210352
I spent the past year pretty much exclusively playing ps2 on a 30in crt
>>

If by like this you mean on a tiny tv, then yeah. If you mean secret of mana and games like it, also yeah.

If I already had the setup, I would enjoy it. But I’m not going out of my way to buy and set it up especially not at the price I imagine CRTs and the original console hardware costs nowadays
>>
>>750210352
I already lived it. I don’t want to keep replaying old games, I did that in the 00s.
>>
I had a SOULFUL gaming setup up until the early 2010's. An incredibly dusty entertainment center with a 25inch CRT and a dozen video game consoles all hooked up with A/V switch boxes, but it became more and more pointless to keep all of that hooked up as I became a PC gamer who could emulate everything. Now my old consoles are neatly packed away in my closet and I just have a SOULLESS minimalist setup with just a computer and three monitors.. The one console I still have hooked up is a Switch.

The TV cannot show you ads if you disable its internet access.

>>750226232
Believe me I now. I disconnected mine forever ago but even that doesn't stop it from doing shit like automatically turning peripherals on when you turn on the TV itself. The whole thing is designed to be intrusive and to prevent you from opting out of its features. Old TVs are just simple and do what you want them to do with no fuss.

>>
If autism wouldn't compel me every direction at once, which also leads me to modern games, I would be more than happy chilling in bed just playing retro stuff on my CRT. During the past month I've completed two games on my N64, 2 Famicom games, one Gameboy game (on my Gamecube via Gameboy Player) and one PC game so I do interact with my hardware as much as I can.
>you should never own more hardware than you can interact with at once

most OSSCs I've seen are in the ballpark of a couple hundreds to just have a less shit picture on an HD screen, if you care that much about playing on the original hardware just get the CRT instead of polishing a turd otherwise emulate and save yourself the trouble
FPGAs are retarded as well but I could see niche cases where they might do something for someone, won't catch me dead arguing for it though

WHAT'S WITH ALL THE FUCKING SECRET OF MANA THREADS?!
>>
>>750229070
I bought the OSSC to play retro games on a 31 kHz CRT. It also does alot of cool stuff like sync on green via SCART. You're not fully appreciating the thing and blaming the users. There's also less reasons to own a CRT with the OLED advancements of today, I can understand people wanting to play real hardware on a HDTV with real hardware and the OSSC is a much more cost effective choice than a Retrotink 4k.

>>
>>750230116
hey little boy. you sound really cute, you should come over and play video games with me. I have hundreds! and yes, using a flashcart like an Everdrive is basically the same as playing a legitimate cartridge. It has the data and the console is still doing all the heavy lifting.
>>
>>750210352
I disagree.
>>
>>750230116
It's functionally exactly the same in 99.99% of cases except for the fact that you're not switching cartridges. Some of them even let you go back to the menu with some button combos, also you can play most romhacks and the like on original hardware with them which is neat
>>
>>750230116
>is that the same as playing an original cart
Assuming it isn't Virtua Racing or a Sega CD game, there's zero difference from a real cartridge. Cartridges with no coprocessors are identical, Everdrives that emulate simple RAM or storage drives like the Turbografx-CD are also practically identical, Everdrives that need to emulate coprocessors like the Super FX or the X68000 in the Sega CD might differ, but you'd be hardpressed to tell a difference either way.

You lose resolution (not a problem with oldass 240p games), and win motion clarity and colors.
Also you don't even need to be a collectorfag, i'm using a rapi3 lakka for this.
Also it looks like shit on photos if compared to the real deal.
Colors are really strong live.

Of course, partially is due my screens being basically office tier LED panels that gets absolutely mogged.

I found this thing five minutes from my house on the curb. I had a super station one so I said what the hell. lets check it out. I kinda like playing nes, snes, and genesis on it. and I use to think anyone using 13" crt today was insane. but its actually really nice sitting close and having the entire screen in view.

depending on the max resolution the mask can vary a lot. some widescreen ones don't even support 240p correctly
