Tim Sweeney's comment on the closure of Looking Glass Studios. May 24, 2000

Amazing. He was writing LinkedIn posts before the site was even made. Ahead of his time.
>>
He's right
Making niche games is cool but not when you're taking half a billion of other people's money just to make a couple million.
>>
He was right for 2000, when the publisher had to pay to print physical boxed copies of the game and ship them to retail stores. A dev team like Looking Glass is fine for today's digital marketplaces as there is much less money and investment.
>>
>>750219312
it is still not fine to have a huge budget for niche games with limited audience

He's unfortunately right. Making great games does not automatically mean success, especially in a crowded industry like vidya.

I think it was a timing thing, CRPGs are on the upswing recently, but the early 2000's when console dominated the market it really was a niche place.
>>
What an asshole.
Terra Nova: Strike Force Centauri is my favorite game. And if they actually were allowed to release their multiplayer patch, we may have all been playing that instead of Tribes. Game was light years ahead of its time.
Also, much as I appreciate the insult, I assure you that it is unnecessary to be an alumni of MIT to play thief or system shock
>>
>EA - that's Electronic Arts not Evil Avatar :)
Reads like something Chris Chan would type out

It's a broadly autistic/spergy thing to come up with a pun or joke name of something that you think is super hilarious only to be met with confusion or no reaction from others who haven't had all the time thinking about that they did.
>>
>>750218530
The interesting thing is, he is swimming in money and just produces the worst kind of slop for children??? Then he lays tons of people off and replaces them with AI. The only thing he puts effort into is malding over steam and linux on twitter.

You think Tim got bullied a lot as a child?
>>
>>750218659
>commentaries didn't exist before LinkedIn
Kill yourself internet brained subhuman scum.
>>
>>750221703
Have you ever heard Tim Sweeney speak? Dude is closer to Chris Chan than he is to Gaben.
>>
>>750218530
the final sentence is basically the game industry right now. AAA is dying and from the ashes born gacha and indie.
>>
>>750223808
Have you actually seen him? He looks like a fucking bullied nerd who used to sit in the back of the bus.
>>
>>750218530
Gee Weeney has been shit the whole time, what a shock. Fuck that guy.
>>
>>750223821
Hi Tim
>>
>>750218530
eh, I guess it's fine
what's Gaben's statement though?
>>
>>750218530
this line of reasoning basically completely dried up over the last 20 years
>>
>>750223808
Yes and it's extremely hilarious to know he almost certainly bought into that faggoty ass cope of SOME DAY YOU'LL BE WORKING FOR ME like all nerds do to and is the best example of the fact that even if a nerd amasses a fortune and a company and does achieve everything a nerd could want, he STILL gets bullied for being a faggot. That even the poorest man on the street would dare call him a Faggot Nerd.

But it's not just being called a nerd.
It's that despite his fortunes, despite his power, if someone called Tim Sweeney a nerd the rest of society would titter and laugh at him. Just like when he was back in school.
Nothing changed.

Money doesn't make a loser a winner. It just magnifies what a loser they are.
And Tim is one of the biggest gaycunt nerd losers I've ever seen.

Ehhh, Elon Musk sure as hell gives him a run for his money.

Note the qualifier "one of"
>>
>>750218530
Billionaire mindset. We can all learn something from uncle Tim.
>>
>>750223821
No i mean it reads exactly like a linkedin post
>here's how my own mother dying is an opportunity for growth
