Nigger what the fuck I haven't even beaten a part 1 section yet. Who the fuck is playing this 800 hour game and needs the other 1600 hours they didn't bother to actually write yet already?
>>
you don't have to do the chores

fortune's weave is such a great autism filter. I'm glad optimizationfags who can't help themselves are seething.
on my 2nd route I did about 0-2 dungeons per free time, only enough meals to recruit about 4 characters I wanted who have a Lv3 requirement plus a few support conversations I was interested in, whatever sidequest opened up and happened to be on the way (for example I skipped Cai's farming ones), and did auto activities to pass days instead of trying to get every arena opportunity / inn meal / character gifting / etc. in, and I beat it in 9ish hours on Hard/Classic (while still taking the time to watch cutscenes normally, wander, and do paralogues). could've done it even faster easily without feeling like I'm rushing it

>but you HAVE to do it or you're skipping content!!
you're not skipping shit. it's like saying you're skipping content if you're not catching every Pokemon, clearing the Pokedex of 1000+ and shiny hunting all of them, instead of just beating the gyms and most sidequests and the elite 4 and some healthy dicking around on the side. there is a huge difference.

>this is bad game design because I feel like I'm forced to do it
that's a you problem. did you also feel the compulsive need to wikimaxx and find every last korok seed?

>but I want to recruit!
you get enough freebies + the majority of characters have low renown / support requirements on at least one route. anyone else is a bonus, not a goal.

>but I'm leaving gains on the table!
fire emblem is a series with fucking random stat growths. this should be your first and last sign that not everything is supposed to go your way perfectly, you can do everything right and get stat screwed on a character. do you reset every bad level up in older games? they had to fix the level up rng to curb the habits of fags like you. learn to chill the fuck out

you deserve to be dragged for your gay habits
DEATH to all optimization wikifags

>>750222094

I beat it in 105 hours. Did all part 1 routes and one part 2.
>>
>>750222594
I'm playing blind and having a blast. Only on Cai's route Ch8 with the freebies, the drunk monk, Anatolia's bitch boy, Seteth, a few indiscriminate brown girls (Nydine? and one with short blue hair), Nunzo, and the big dumb bandit guy. Need to do Ninae's sidequest to get herm Not finding the chores too abrasive, though each chapter and renown keeps dropping more on me.
>>
To be fair, you need to have IQ/EQ of atleast 100 to truly understand and appreciate Kino's Weave
>>
>>750222985
Every subsequent route goes significantly faster because previously completed sidequests auto-complete, revealed points on the map stay, Support levels carry over and the metaprogression with skills makes it so that you need to bother with the arena less to get your skills up.

Only if you totally finish a route though
>>
>>750223252
Yeah thats what I understand. Theres no point in flipping between routes.
>>
>>750222594
Holy fpbp
>>
>>750223348
If you really, really want to cheese particularly hard-to-get recruits extra hard on future routes, do inn meals + chapter restart once you have a Level 3 Inn, between the next lord you're going to play and the characters you want for them. Doing this you can get two characters to Level 3 Support in under 10 minutes.
Since Supports carry over, when you start their route, you won't have to hit the inn every week and spend money since their prospective recruits will already be at the required level. Now you can play the new route focused entirely on missions.

i want to let it marinate till 2027 but there r 4 other premiere 100+ hour jrpgs dropping next year, who has the energy
FW dropped in the best possible year to corner the jrpg market

I took a break from FW to play FE7 for the first time since like 2014, it was also my first FE game, and I'm having much more fun with it than FW.
>>
I got the game since launch but I've only cleared Leda's path and I'm on Theodora ch 6.

what do you mean

you should play FE9 emulated for faster battle animations it's way more fun than FE7

>you don't have to do the chores
and therefore you get to miss out on
>reclassing within a reasonable timeframe
>recruiting the characters you want
>forging materials
>trading materials
>gold
>supports
>special weapons
>special classes
>basically anything remotely interesting about fire emblem outside of the bare minimum
it's genuinely astonishing how much FWiggers will go out of their way to try to convince themselves that their shitty JRPG is not in fact a chore simulator, going so far as to tell you to not interact with 80% of the game because they know that 80% is indefensible garbage filler, while simultaneously ignoring the fact that all the interesting mechanics are locked behind said filler.
>>
>>750226725
I do love FE9 and especially FE10, but next is 6, then 8, which I've never played.
>>
>>750226923
My biggest issue is the skills rank training, if you do it at the inn it picks a skill that a class CAN use (so it might pick fists for your mage) and you have no control over it, meaning it isn't a substitute for the arena.
But even worse is that during part 2 they take the arena away, so you are pretty much fucked if you don't have enough skill rank to promote, unless you want to try the same gamble with the inns (which you can only do once per chapter).
>>
>>750222594
Have you done anything in Part 2 yet?
>>
>>750222594
I don't know where this idea came from that anybody who doesn't find the game fun does so because they're a minmax optimization autist. Seems like some specific boogeyman FWfags just came up with to deride any criticism fair or not.
>>
did Dietrich's part 1
took a two week break
doing cai's part 1
gonna take another two week break after
>>
man
I played this game for like 165 hours
and I still kinda wanna jump back in and play it more
>>
>>750226923
there's a huge spectrum between autistically slaving away minmaxing the calendar and just kinda dicking around enough to still get things, something the post you responded to addresses if you had any reading comprehension at all

I mean idk I beat my last route in 11 hours and was drowning in materials and reclassed on time and recruited everyone I wanted to, on hard. maybe you're just bad?
>>
>>750228740
aren't you that same faggot who admitted he couldn't recruit the units he wanted because the requirements were too high? You sure sound like him.
>>
On to my 2nd Theodora run, using that prototype Dark Failnaught is cool.
>>
>>750229098
but I did recruit everyone for part 2, and got everyone I wanted within each part.
if you think seeing a character and saying "oh, they're high renown here but low renown on another route so I'll get them there instead" is some kind of epic gotcha concession you might actually be sub 60 iq.
specifically I briefly considered Sofia amongst many because I thought I could use another healslut and then saw she's the forced tutorial recruit on Theodora so I just went "ok" and let it go and got Fianna instead (my party only had room for so many healers anyway). It was a 5 second thought process then I decided to continue to actually play the game

I don't think you're capable of understanding nuance of any kind though so I'll forgive you for misunderstanding
>>
>>750229707
"oh I didn't bother getting them this route because they require too high renown" is quite literally a concession and a tacit acknowledgement that you grindy recruitment system influenced the way you played the game. It was also and admission that you weren't able to "dick around to still get things" because dicking around caused you to miss key deadlines for recruiting the character you actually wanted. And now you're trying to cope by saying
>"w-well actually I didn't want Sofia to begin with!"
when what actually happened was that you were looking to recruit her, saw that you couldn't meet the requirements because you didn't meticulously plan it out from the very beginning of the route, and proceeded to settle for less.
>>
>>750230139
that is some truly insane mental gymnastics, it's impressive you remember to feed yourself and breathe.

when you play any rpg ever made you make decisions and tradeoffs because some things are easier on certain routes than others.
if you're playing fallout 1 and have a low [whatever stat] build certain quests can become roundabout in a way that can be cynically seen as grindy. but you can also save the stuff you can't access for another build.
when you play a baldur's gate 2 and find it harder to recruit or keep certain members in your party because you have a specific alignment, and you have to consciously reconsider decisions, that isn't an "aha! gotcha, see how unfair this game is?" moment

god bless fortune's weave in actually having the four routes and their integration be a hell of a lot smoother than what could've been. at least it's reasonable to get everyone on all routes. characters outside the default path for a route are an extra. there are like six characters total who need 3 support on all routes. you don't need peter on theodora's path but the option is there if you really want to go of your way; same logic as how you technically /can/ reclass goliath as a priest, it's an alternative and not a goal.
perhaps people like you would complain less if the game didn't even give you the choice
>>
How do you ng+?
>>
>>750231059
>when you play any rpg ever made
I remember when fire emblem was a strategy game and not a wannabe JRPG
>>
>>750231126
Just start a new route at one of the four character obelisk, there isn't a proper NG+ option but you can start a route again and all the supports and temple blessing levels carry over.
>>
>>750231796
And I assume it overwrites it for Part 2 considerations?
>>
>>750231924
You have to complete Part 2 with a completed part 1 save for it to carry over to Part 3 afaik
>>
>>750231924
NTA but I believe you would have to complete the final chapter of part 1 to affect anything in P2. That being said, if you complete chapter 1, only end data for Ch1 would be changed, and then your new stuff would carry over to starting new Chapter2

Notice how at no point in this retarded narrative does the FWigger try to refute the fact that they're still chores at the end of the day. Because even a FWigger knows that things like spamming meals, arena battles, taking care of temples, and capturing mounts are just busywork and not actual gameplay.
In past FEs, all these gameplay systems were done through the gameplay.
Want to recruit someone? Talk to him on the map without dying to him or rescue him as a green unit.
Want to promote someone? Get to that treasure chest at the end of the map before a thief can steal the promotion item and get away.
Want to level up someone's supports? Pair them up on the battlefield.
Whatever the method was to obtain what you needed, it was always in service of the gameplay. You didn't have to get every chest or promote every unit on your team or recruit every recruitable unit, but being able to do so meant you were good at the game.

In FW, all of these systems are either partially or completely replaced by chores.
Want to recruit someone? Reach renown level 9 by doing a bunch of fetch quests and grinding and reach support level 3 by spamming meals.
Want to promote someone? Spam the arena on the right day when you can train the appropriate weapon rank.
Want to level up supports? Spam the meals 3 times a week, theater 1x a week, or spam meals on a feast tile.

No matter how little or much you do these chores, nothing will change the fact that at the end of the day, they are still chores. And that is the fundamental difference that you FWigger apologists can't wrap your tiny heads around. None of these systems are in service of the gameplay. All of them are completely detached from the top down strategy that players actually want to interact with, and judging by how avidly you seem to want to tell people not to interact with these chores, no one wants to actually do them in the first place.

>None of these systems are in service of the gameplay
yes, they're in service of the atmosphere and soul.
low iq youtube essay slop consumers, who only ever view games as a sum of parts but disguise their lack of taste as simply being a "gameplay first" purist, will look at roman baths and be like "but how does this slot into my spreadsheet?? what does this ADD to the GAME" unironically. and they lack the self awareness to realize what's wrong with that statement

Fortune's Weave is kino and the future of the franchise. So sorry!!
>>
>>750242895
>muh atmosphere and soul
got it, so you don't have any actual arguments.
Must be a really shitty soul if it's defined by skipping through 9 different chore mechanics per week because you've seen the same animation play out and heard the same generic voice lines thousands of times by the time you've completed the game.
>>
>>750242895
FW is great despite the chores. It has great VA work, story, music, and decent enough battle systems. Bear in mind decent is high praise because the entire FE franchise is mid when it comes to tactics gameplay. I do think the chores need to go in future titles. I think the ideal structure for an improved future title would be a potential roster reduction down to like 50ish max. Replace the large setpiece hubs with the humble campsite between maps and give the persona fags a bone with limited actions in camp between battles. But this isn't happening until the sothis arc runs its course. They seem enamored with presenting an epic narrative, world, and scale. It definitely has its payoffs but the cost of time investment is very very high. Perhaps prohibitively too high.
