Bethesda really made 1 good game and decided "Yep that's enough. From now on we will make nothing but ass."
>>750227109Only Skyrim is bad.Oblivion and Fallout 3/4 are kino.

>>750227109>good gamepic severely unrelated
None of their games are really that good. Ultima Underworld perfected this genre, everything since has actually lacked in substantial ways. UU had life, the whole dungeon was alive. Things happened whether or not you got involved. Crafting had real meaning and purpose. It was full of chi, the life essence. You could play that game many times in a row and it would turn out quite differently.Bethesda games are lifeless, a bunch of mannequins pacing within their bounds, waiting for the player to come up to them and activate whatever quest they were waiting to give, or combat. Eventually they put schedules in which was comically bad too, like the dinnertime rush in Skyrim where the ENTIRE TOWN of 35 people would rush into the tavern, despite everybody's home being set up for cooking and provisioned with food. Sleeping too. Nobody was ever up late at night except... bad guys and guards? Not even at home?No these Bethesda games can be fun for a bit but become hollow after a while. You realize this after you play better, older games - the new ones have better graphics and sound, but they usually don't hold up compared to the old games.
>>750227109morrowind. now this is a game.

>>750227617The one good thing about Ultima Underworld is that it hasn't received a remaster. That gatekeeps away the riffraff.
>>750227895if thats the only good thing why does it matter if people get filtered
>>750227617MW never bothered with the NPC schedule horseshit and it was better for it. It was static a snapshot of a believable, lived-in world. And it was an incredibly well-put together snapshot at that. Maybe the best that video games have to offer. The later TES games are neither believable temporally with their robotic, scripted, NPC movement that plays in a loop; nor are they believable with their lifeless, artificial themepark worlds.
>>750227109That really good game?Arena
>>750227109whoops sorry wrong pic lol
>>750228158>It was static a snapshotYes.>of a believable, lived-in world.No. I always wondered who serviced the torches in the crypts and dungeons? The bonelords, the skeletons? Who? Everything was lifeless and set in place. You can tell they were trying to remedy this with Oblivion, and then Skyrim and Fallout 3 by adding more and more interactivity to the world, showing consequences of the player's actions. But Morrowind in particular is especially lifeless and hollow.Even later games didn't appear to have anything resembling an life, everything was hollow. Nobody needed to eat, or sleep (yet they slept at the proper times), everybody who gave a quest would be confined to a small set of locations and always following a schedule no matter what, unless they died or there was a bug.Why even simulate day-night cycles if there is no NPC schedule? It's jarring and weird. JRPGs are especially terrible with this but Bethesda games are almost as bad. Lifeless cutout world of mannequins to activate, usually in sequence.
grognards are cringe, just stay in RPGcodex please
There's that Reddit-tier toxic positivity again.Morrowind was OK for the time but didn't hold up to UU, it had better graphics. This is the current state of the entire 3D dungeon / adventure game genre to this day. While a lot of games have been attempted and many match or possibly exceed UU in certain elements and points, no game has it all firing on all cylinders like UU did. NO game. Maybe Arx Fatalis.
>>750228685>Who?All of Morrowind's tombs belong to a specific Dunmer family. The family members tend to those tombs regularly and they are the ones who leave offerings. Richer families leave better loot in their tombs. The later games have no equivalent explanation for this, nor a reason why their tombs even exist in the first place.>Skyrim and Fallout 3>adding more and more interactivityStraight up retarded and wrong. The only thing those games added, such as NPC schedules, was non-interactive set dressing. What they actually removed was genuine interactivity, such as Morrowind's unscripted NPC interactions.
