idk what I'm supposed to be doing in this game most of the time its fuckin confusing
>>
how
most of the levels are literal corridors
>>

Guess what, you're meant to figure it out. No yellow paint here.
And don't forget: If you die, you lose 20 minutes of progress.
>>
>>750228945
that makes em maze-y especially the first one in the temple where ur not sure where ur supposed to go

>idk what I'm supposed to be doing in this game most of the time its fuckin confusing
It's a product of its time. Yellow paint and tape wasn't invented in 1996
>>
>>750228908
The way I played TR is every new room I encountered I'd stop and just look around for three minutes. Find all the other pathways to new areas before deciding which to check out. And with my luck I always picked the wrong way first and would have to double back to try the other path that has the key I need down it.
>>
played 3 as a kid. i don't think i ever made it out of the mansion lol. well it was funny enough. t here were activities there like some sort of running course and maybe driving something and locking the buttler somewhere
>>
>>750229328
i'm pretty sure thats just the hub area not the actual game
>>
>>750228908
Think of it like a puzzle game with jumping.
>>
>>750229390
well it was different time so i guess that felt like that was the whole game. dunno lol

>this will be 60 euros
fuck
steep for a singleplayer only linear action game innit
>>
>>750229429
The problem is that it doesn't even tell you what the puzzle is nor the solution you are working towards.
So it feels aimless as a result.
>>
>>750228908
i have every achievement in 1-3

that's all you need bro
Just explore and try shit
>>
>a game that shows you what doors are unlocked when you do something
>idk what I'm supposed to be doing
>>
>>750230459
I might be wrong. But I think that only started happening from 2 or 3 onwards. Again, might be a liar I forget.
>>
>>750230459
the problem stems from arriving in a new room and not finding anything to "do something", and then you start backtracking and get lost.
that was the biggest difference from Core games to the LAU trilogy that brought casuals into the franchise
>>
>>750230629
what they added in later games was the flyovers that showed you a broad picture of where you're supposed to go.
>>
>>750230895
>LAU trilogy
this
100%
I've played one of those at least in the past and it was easy to get into compared to 1
I might just replay them
though they only did 1-3 right
not 4-6
lara is so hot in the lua remakes too... specially the underwater one
>>
>>750231006
in the legend trilogy only anniversary was remake
>>
>>750231223
oh what
they're not all remakes?
so anniversary is what TR1 then it does its own thing?
>>
>>750231258
yeah, Legends and Underworld are completely original, not based off an older games
>>
>>750231258
Legend is a sort of reboot where Lara crashes in the Himalayas with her mom and reestablishes some of her origin there but characters like Zip from Chronicles return as members of Lara's team. They reboot this aspect yet again in TR '13. Anniversary is a remake of TR1 that reintroduces characters like Natla so you know who they are in Underworld which is a direct sequel to Legend.

>you see a bunch of cogwheels on the wall
>next to them is a lever
>you pull it
>the cogwheels start to move
>you notice that not all cogwheels are moving
>you also notice that there are empty spots between the moving and not moving cogwheels
What are you supposed to do here? It's a mystery.
>>
>>750232068
if you truly believe these older Tomb Raiserrs are all about pull lever > jump a few loose platforms > reach door and that's it, you haven't played them.
the reboots are the ones that are actually this simple.
>>
>>750232068
No, that's not how it goes. You are put in an area you must explore before you even see any puzzle, you have to explore and if you go down the wrong path you might find nothing of note or something that can't be interacted with until after you go to another area you haven't been yet.
So you have to go down one path, then another, then another and then you can start piecing things together.
But depending on where you go first you can just wander aimlessly until you find a random lever that has the exact same color as the wall it's on and flipping it trying to figure out what it even does.
That's how the game plays on a person's first playthrough.
People who defend the game have often played the game to death so much so that they have memorized it all and have forgotten how obtuse everything can be in a puzzle kind of way but an aimless do random things until it all clicks together way.
>>
>>750233630
I'd say it's worse
You need to understand Tomb Raider I-III (I forget IV-VI) literally didn't have anything regarding 'here's how you play the levels/puzzle parts' It was just 'Hi, I'm Lara, here's how I move, how I jump, grab, shimmy, crawl, run etc' and not 'over here is a lever, you can push and hear the sound effect that indicates something happened'
Like you need to understand new players literally have no understanding of what the fuck the game is which is a 'fumble around shit until shit works'
I'll admit III is hard as balls (first 3d game for me and I had to get a guide) and it helped but even playing I blind, albeit as a 12 year old when I got it on PS1 and having played III with the guide, I felt like it was still very much 'it's a game you need a guide for' since 9/10 times, shit isn't obvious unless you think like the devs
