I'm a new Morrowind player who has dumped nearly 50 hours into the game, and here is what I have to say about it, as someone who's played oblivion Skyrim, and all the fallout games.>The NPCs in Morrowind are regurgitate the same thingSedya Need kind of gives you a misconception of what the rest of the NPCs in citys and settlements will be like, in that most are unique and have unique things to say, but once you get into a city(s) the only thing that changes between the majority of them is, "Oh I'm a blacksmith, or "my family is royalty and owns property here", its all the same rumors, same secrets, and same option select for everything through and through. Not to mention NPCs all looks very similar everywhere you go. This is immersion breaking and not to mention you have to dialogue exhaust 1000s of times just to get a quest. In Skyrim every NPC was unique with their own personality, dialogue and quests, not to mention well voice acted. >Combat is shitYes every Bethesda game has shit combat, but its just bad in Morrowind. It can be made bearable with mods like n'garde and ai behavior improvements but still swinging animations are yawn fest, I can excuse this though>The land is not a joy to explore like skyrim and oblivionYea Morrowinds a believable grounded setting, but the volcanic area near the center of the map looks the same, same terrain rocks, its either a burial site, or an egg farm in morrowind 99.9% of the time. I thought oblivion was bad as every dungeon was copy and pasted but morowind is the same but with worse graphics. The structure of buildings in the cities is the same to they all have those stone huts. The city with 9 different districts forgot what its called, all the buildings are exactly the same with the same interiors and sewers, waterworks ect.>The writingIts sort of a wikki dump.
>>750232582(continued)>The writingIts sort of a wikki dump. The biggest difference is that bethesda focused writting in games like oblivion, skyrim, and fallout 3 is theres less lore dumping, and more character writing, meaning its not about a city being 1000 years old and pilgrims transversing the lands to appease said deity, but more along the lines of Nazeem being a snotty piece of shit, who looks down upon people because of his background and is a grump PoS.Or the adoring fan being a whismy annoying fan. This is much more engaging.
don't forget the shitty fetch quests and broken itemization/economy
>>750232582>In Skyrim every NPC was unique with their own personalityHave we played the same Skyrim?Because>its all the same rumors, same secrets, and same option select for everything through and throughis the case here too. Not everyone in Skyrim have unique dialog options. The only difference is that they have a schedule.
Morrowind's Wiki dialogue tree was a direct improvement over Daggerfall's, but a step back from Redguard's high production value all voiced lines style. Redguard was the first modern TES and Morrowind took a step back because they couldn't afford another Redguard.

>>750234895my conclusion is that it is just a dumb skyrim fanboy after reading:> its either a burial site, or an egg farm in morrowind 99.9% of the time. I thought oblivion was bad as every dungeon was copy and pasted but morowind is the same but with worse graphics.99% of skyrim dungeons were filled with draughr or whatever they're called and fucking boring, but he is hating on morrowind and oblivion's dungeons only?
>>750235398>99% of skyrim dungeons were filled with draughrTrue, but Skyrim has also introduced traps in dungeons. Or was it Oblivion? I haven't played it.
>In Skyrim every NPC was unique with their own personalitybait thread
>>750235547>spoilerI couldn't tell you. I have over 200 hours in Oblivion and can't remember a thing about it besides some character dialogue
>>750232582you're not wrong but Morrowsissies don't want to hear it
>>750232582good game but a bit too datednon rng combat makes it alot better lolmy only issue is no dungeon music lol
The truth is, Bethesda games have always been incredibly overrated. The worldbuilding of TES is great, but that's where I would say the greatness ends. There are some interesting things about each game in a vacuum, but as games overall none of them are exceptional in any way. The one common sentiment that I'd agree with is that they've become more casual and less of RPGs over time.
>>750236363He's not wrong. Every NPC that wasn't an enemy or generic (their name was their job title) had a unique personality. Now, they weren't very interesting, nor did they have much to say, but it's better than most NPCs copy-pasting the same wiki dump.
>>750236529>The one common sentiment that I'd agree with is that they've become more casual and less of RPGs over time. This is a complete lie.
>>750232582>I'm a new Morrowind player who has dumped nearly 50 hours into the game, and here is what I have to say about ittl:dr, Make a YT video about it with a clickbaity thumbnail
>>750236617Oh yea? Compare alchemy and the custom weapons and custom magic (or magic systems in general) in Morrowind/Oblivion to Skyrim. Now compare any of those to Fallout 4. Now compare that to Starfield. Or, you know, compare the dialogue. They're absolutely stripping out the RPG to strip in action-adventure with RPG elements.
>>750235547Oblivion. Caves had log traps and the occasional swinging ball and chain, Aylied ruins had spikes and gas traps, and imperial ruins had pneumatic dart launchers... somehow.
>>750236754Alchemy is the same, except you no longer need specific tools. Instead alchemy got an entire perk tree dedicated to it. Morrowind/Oblivion had no custom weapons, unless you meant enchanting, which Skyrim has. Spellmaking is cool, hopefully they bring in back in TESVI. Fallout 4 was Bethesda chasing after Bioware, specifically Mass Effect, for some reason, when Bethesda's games were the more successful of the two. Starfield got rid of the voiced protag, , forced background forced 4 dialogue options and brought back skill checks in dialogue. So technically, they've reintroduced RPG elements into their game.

>>750236370>200 hoursNo way you don't remember this masterpiece.
black marsh bitches
>>750237608Not him but I do agree that Bethesda loves chasing after trends in making their games and that's attributed to Emil being lead writer. I know it's a dead bit at this point to put blame on him but in all of his interviews his idea of worldbuilding is taking ideas from other people and trying to work that concept into a game.Look at Starfield for example>Freestar Collective is cowboys for some reason and they have shit made out of wood on a planet with hardly any trees because ??? (RDR2)>Neon is a PG-13 phoned in idea of a corrupt nightlife degenerate city (CP2077)I'm not saying these games have ownership on the idea of cowboys or cyberpunk aesthetics, but isn't it more than a bit coincidental that a game that was being developed when these huge games came out just so happened to have these concepts? Bethesda is too used to having lore to build off of that they can't write new shit to save their lives. Anyways if you're somehow still expecting Bethesda to come out with a good TES game after this many bad games and literally unlimited money and goodwill you deserve to be disappointed.
>>750237608>Alchemy is the sameIt is abso-fucking-lutely not the same in Morrwind or Oblivion as it is in Skyrim. Have you even played the games my nigga?
>>750239063It's the same, but instead carrying around specific equipment for it you just go to an alchemy station. Surely you aren't trying to say that the fucking modifiers from equipment somehow make the alchemy different, right?
>haha look I'm a guiness world record basedjak in morrowind XDI hate to do this but I'm gonna have to discard your opinion.
