I went with my Mage, Imoen, Minsc, Dynaheir, Boo, Yeslick, and Ajantis in BG1 because I thought having a paladin meant having more healing.
Then in BG2, it was that same Mage, Imoen, Minsc, Jaheira, Viconia(who I ended up romancing in the end despite it breaking a couple times), and couldn't decide on a sixth party member, so I just stayed at 5 until ToB, where I took Sarevok, hoping to kill him a third time before it was over, but never got the chance.
