The Japanese themselves criticized how Japanese people engage with media over 20 years ago. They don't see media as worth preserving because they don't see media itself as anything but a means to an end.

>they give up, because that's what morality is
Pretty sure it's just that the japanese have developed an instinctive fear at the genetic level to the consequences of refusing to give up
They used to have Yamato Damashi, now they view it the way most animals view snakes
>>
>>750236268
"Never Give Up" is the Japanese Fighting Spirit. If your dream is to be accepted as Japanese, you surely should follow it.

That poster saying Japanese choose to "Give Up" is a fallacy. One I won't be following.

He didn't seem philosophically correct in his claims.

Nips seem to confuse law and morality. If someone else leaves something aside when they no longer want it someone else picking it up is not in the wrong.
IP laws are also completely immoral to begin with, as is allowing companies to basically keep something forever when man himself is not.
Those discrepancies must be solved before either side can be said to be engaging in a discussion about what is or is not moral. Ownership of something does not make that person automatically in the right.

Hey newfriend, welcome to 4chan! It seems you've either left your trip and name on from another thread by accident, or you've been misled about their purpose!
4chan is a set of fora founded in part under the idea that an argument must stand on its own in order to be worthy of Merit. As such, applying names, avatars, signatures, or unique identifiers (trip codes) to your post when it is not necessary to identify yourself is considered bad form!
Generally, people who clearly do not understand the board culture will be taken less seriously. If you feel you need to apply your name, identity, sex, or social status to your argument, your argument must not be strong on its own.
There are some instances where a trip is necessary, such as when providing access to files, or making falsifiable updates to a long-running project. However, in most instances, it is better not to use them. Keep this in mind going forward, and happy posting!

Japan doesn’t have a Les Miserables equivalent as a cultural cornerstone. In the west we understand that stealing a loaf of bread in order to feed a starving person is a good thing, even if it’s illegal. It’s only recently that movies like Godzilla minus 1 even recognize that forgiving a fighter pilot for not kamikazeing is a good thing.

Japs worship THE LAW and don't ever ask if it makes sense or not.

That's why Americans are superior.

it's also why the Japanese make better Christians than Americans
>>
>>750235692
Regardless of what you might think of Japs for thinking like this, they've managed to make a pretty good society for themselves largely better than the west in many respects. Practically zero crime compared to a shithole like America. Who's to say that isn't because Japs think the way they do?
Maybe they're actually in the right?
>>
>>750243262
Ups and downs like anywhere else. Their suicide rate is insane and if their cops look at you, you're already fucked whether you're guilty or not. Corporations control everything, not just the law but also culture (same as America) but they're also socially ostracized for finding other paths. But yeah, I do admire that they don't litter. Seems like a small thing but it's honestly a prime indicator of a culture being worth a shit. Any culture that allows or encourages widespread littering is worthless.
>>
>>750243262
Like other Asians, they are excellent optimizers. Give them something, and they'll probably find a way to make it better, or produce it more efficiently. However, they don't invent very much compared to the West.
>>
I will concede, there is a period of time, shortly after the release of a game or piece of media, where buying a copy to reward the artists and potentially support a sequel, is the morally correct thing to do (not that I always do it).
After 20 years, genuinely who the fuck cares though? Old stuff should just be free. Companies should be told to deal with it.
>>
>>750243367
>if their cops look at you, you're already fucked whether you're guilty or not
Only if you succumb to pressure and admit to something you didn't do. Cops there are terrified of failing to get a conviction so if they aren't 99% sure they can nail you they won't do much
>>
>>750235692
>Morality is when the government tells you what's good
I genuinely despise Asian conformism so much, these people would actually throw themselves if everyone one else did too just because they have a crippling fear of actually thinking individual and not being a human hivemind.

>>
>>750243542
>and admit to something you didn't do
False confessions are so weird to me. Why the fuck would you admit to a crime you didn't commit? Sounds so retarded but apparently it happens all of the time
>>
>>750243262
>Practically zero crime compared to a shithole like America
If their justice system worked like America (where arrests weren’t automatic guilty sentences and cases with no obvious suspects didn’t get immediately closed as self-inflicted) their reported crime rate would he higher. I’m not saying Japan is a shitty place but their justice system is completely fucked, it’s easy for crime to look “under control” when every unsolved murder is immediately closed as a suicide because cold cases are dishonoru.
>>
>>750243645
Because police interrogation is a form of psychological warfare designed to get you to confess. Turns out that works whether you’re guilty or not.
>>
>>750243645
In Japan, at least, because they torture you, basically. That and to the Japanese, if you are accused it means you must be guilty.
>>
>>750243010
But what if I sell sandwiches for a living?
>>
>>750243367
Their suicide rate is lower than the US and Finland.
>>
>>750243780
Beacause they don't report it. They don't report anything. If they can hide it away, they will.
>>
>>750243780
It's also notoriously underreported, much like Korean "fan deaths" where people somehow die from sleeping with a fan in their bedroom.
>>

Literally no one ever said this, the current western release model is incompatible with how the media is consumed, I honestly think shit like mangaplus, kmanga and other simulrelease platforms are the way to go for the medium.

>>
>>750243856
>much like Korean "fan deaths" where people somehow die from sleeping with a fan in their bedroom
This has an easy explanation, they get near ethilic coma driking at night, get the fan going shooting directly at them and because the massive alcohol intake put them down completely, their body is basically so utterly numb it doesn't even properly feel it getting too uncomfortably cold and they basically freeze to death, meanwhile a non drunk people will just naturally wake mid sleep, feel cold and shut off the fan.

>piracy is ok in christianity
Well, as an avid scholar of the bible, it kinda depends. Your reasoning needs to be solid enough to justify it. The bible commands us to show some respect for the rule of law, and to pay unto ceasar what belongs to ceasar. So if you're pirating just because you don't want to give a company money, that's morally wrong. If you pirate DESPITE paying for the product, or if you CAN'T pay for it, then it's up in the air. Gotta use your best judgement.

For example, I would personally see no issue in pirating Chrono Trigger for the SNES, provided you bought it at some point. Maybe the DS version, the playstation version, even the steam version. Nobody expects you to shell out 500 dollars to a scammer on ebay.
>>
>>750244221
That's stupid, the fan is obviously pushing all the oxygen out of the room
>>
>>750244280
I agree workers are due their just wages. However if it's not available on the market, but it's something you would pay for if given the chance. Then I see nothing wrong with it.
No second hand copies don't count as the wages are not contributing to the makers at all.
>>
>>750244502
I agree. It's also why I see no issue with violating smaller segments of the law, again as long as you're being respectful, like

>you're not allowed to download a copy of a game from the internet, even if you legally own a physical copy
No harm, no foul.

>breaking DRM and copy protection for mods is illegal
Again, personal use. Who's gonna get hurt?

It's our god given right as human beings to make judgement calls, and not just blindly cowtowing to authority.

Because the police can hold you for weeks, so if you're innocent, you have a choice of being held by the police for weeks as they 'investigate' you, and if they submit a report to their superiors, they can extend their hold of you as they continue their 'investigation' for many more weeks.

BUT! If you confess, you can get out of police custody and return to your job and family. So you have a choice of not admitting guilt to petty things like molestation or shoplifting, or just admit you did wrong and pay a small fine.
>>
>>750243645
they trick you into thinking that admitting to something you didn't do will fuck up your life less than continuing to say that you didn't do it. same way people getting tortured will admit anything to make it stop.
>>
>>750244664
This is also why they have a record high conviction rate. A loophole in their law says that they can keep you indefinitely by "extending the investigation" and they can deny you phone calls and basic needs, as prisoners are not considered to have rights.

Funfact, police there can torture you into a confession, and judges will accept it as legitimate.
>>
The land of the piracy, America
>>
>>750244806
In America, while you are allowed to make calls after being incarcerated, the computer will give you a series of phrases and words to repeat before you're allowed to do so, so it can build a vocal profile of you. Dunno if it's like that everywhere, but the two jails I've been into were like that so I just hung up the phone after that. Like cmon, you've already got my fingerprints, my photos, and searched my asshole, how much more information do you need? cmon

What started this Japan vs brown people war?
>>
>>750245363
>war
I think that's a bit of an overstatement. But there could be a few reasons for changing sentiments. A big one is that Japan is currently re-militarizing, getting around their own (mostly externally defined) "defense only" policies in creative ways. They're not being as obedient to America as they used to be, and they're being more antagonistic towards China. There are more possible reasons, but those are the big ones IMO

No I get it. Laws are good to be followed. But nobody is chastising the elderly for jaywalking
>>
>>750239965
That stems from the fundamental difference of how we historically viewed authority. Asians had god emperors, and rulers claiming to be gods and their children. To them, laws are divine mandates, not mere societal guidelines. Laws don't have to make sense, or ever be questioned in Asian culture, merely blindly followed, because they were made by your betters.

WW3 is 3 fronts. America (north and south) called AU (American Union, also meant as disrespect to the Australians who chose a different group, also includes Israel unfortunately) and then EU (all of Europe obviously, plus a bunch of islands and minor territories, but also Ukraine and Pakistan, and Palestine) and then PC (Russia, China, Australia, and India, and some more islands over there)

welcome to 2036
