I feel like if Minecraft were created today, it would be instantly cloned and released 100 different times on steam. Rather than everyone collectively coming together and going "LET'S PLAY MINECRAFT GUYS!!" you'd have one group saying "Wanna play MyRaft?" and another going "Guys.. hop on blockcraft." meaning minecraft would never gain it's modern popularity. Kind of like how generals ruin an imageboard.

Now I know some of you would say "Well, for that not to happen, minecraft would just need to be BETTER than all those other games!" but I think that's unrealistic. Minecraft clearly wasn't a very good game when it first released. Even at the time many people thought it was ugly and weird so we who played it were "nerds" compared to those obsessing over graphics and call of duty.

I worry for the indie game scene and innovation. It seems the AI cloning epidemic is similar to something few people other than myself have complained about; mods. Using Minecraft again, it's hard to find people who simply enjoy it unmodded and want to engage with vanilla. Except the AI is much worse because it's not just adding something, it's completely isolating and further removing players from one another (Not for minecraft, but for the future of games as a whole. Also, please don't bring up how minecraft already had a lot of clones. That's missing the point of what I'm trying to say here.)

Good post ChatGPT.

Nope. Written myself. With my horrible grammar that much should be obvious.

bro really typed a whole ass essay and said nothing at all

The internet itself was a different place back then. Still corporate and cynical, but capable of bringing people together and having fun

Do you not see the irony in what you just said?

that's how competition works little zoomzoom. beta and laserdisc and ceds (not cds, ceds) all came out but vhs won and became the standard until it in turn was replaced by the next standard

It's called a post :)

Not comparable at all. It's like calling a hacker in a video game simply "better at the competition than you" which is actually a very chinese mindset.

What really sets Minceraft apart from it's clones is that they're still working on it. Same with Terraria.
That's what people care about.

I would say no. There's some flash in the pan shit but I would say the next thing with staying power won't happen until something happens to draw people away from the current things the industry is focused on.
Also, bullshit on it being hard to find people who play vanilla and enjoy it. I would say that's the bulk of the playerbase unless you exclude people who use shaders and texture packs. And don't forget Bedrock tards.

The 2010s was the last time anything genuine could happen on the internet. Everything current is just astroturfed.
>>
>>750240845
Ironic because Minecraft is the most cloned game of all time.
AI clones of games doesn’t make them less popular it indicates that they are popular to begin with.

>without mods
the modded experience is infinitely superior in every way possible, actively choosing to play pure vanilla is questionable, retarded even
