What's this trend of grabbing a famous IP and doing whatever the fuck you want with it, why not just create a new IP if you are not going to stay on line with it?
>>
>>750243579
Brands have become the new medium.
>>
Castlevania: Lesbian Rough Intercourse in the Blood Moon with Rose!
>>
>>750241865
easily one of the best metroidvanias out there. it is definitely Castlevania in its own right, minus the weird music (I miss Michiru Yamane) and the Library theme is the worst of all in the game. Streets Of Paris being the best and Catacombs or Notre Dame being second is accurate. House Of Sacred Remains haunts Paris Streets. the game is flawed but it's fucking good! like I had to catch myself and acknowledge to myself that I was having fun and it is Castlevania. it is dark and Gothic in a very peculiar way. I just wish it was more serious like its music is. the library is my least favorite, regrettably, because I was expecting way more out of the setting and the music is atrocious (fuck all Zoomers and pandering to them and their trash). the game is still pretty good tho. I had fun

Name the last 10 metroidvanias you played not counting BC,

just reached the catacombs
so far im not feeling it, probably because i just finished well dweller last week and that one was a joy is to play compared to this

I 100% it and moved on. Currently playing HoD now. I made a mistake.

It's just a joyless Dead cells game. They should have known better not to fuck up the lore of castlevania, but they couldn't help themselves.

Theres a definitive edition romhack that fixes HoD.it's actually a very good game.

it's pretty good. decent modern metroidvania. the writing is forgettable, the music is forgettable (sad for a castlevania game), and enemy variety is lacking. the boss fights are pretty good, the fighting in general feels decent and i like the variety of subweapons. the exploration is pretty nice, the game doesn't railroad you too much.
it was worth the price of asking for me. 20 hours to get the true ending and all the unlockables.
>>
>>750252663
>ask dead cell studio to make castlevania game
>they make dead cells game instead
Would this work with other studios?
A pokemon type monster collector would be cool given the extensive roster of monsters in these games.

Don't you know? All-time peaks are the exact number the game sold.

sure, why not. i would definitely not want game freak to do it because they can barely make a pokemon game to begin with.
>>
>>750252790
my favourite part was when the devs wanted a girlboss only child so much that they destroyed the entire belmont family, and made it literally impossible for another one to ever be born

That was pretty funny, because now they're game is non-canon shit nobody cares about. They remade legends by mistake
>>
>>750252894
>All-time peaks are the exact number the game sold.
then it sold 21,745 copies?

why not?

Because she's the only Belmont alive. When a woman marries, she marries INTO another family, and it's set in like 1500. It's why people have always wanted boys to "continue the family line".

it could have 1 player or 1 billion players and it would still be the same game. And that game is aggressively mid. This, I feel like I'm forcing myself to like it every time I launch it, but I just can't. It doesn't feel like a Castlevania game at all.
>>
>>750254342
Don't feel too bad, anon. I cut my losses half way through the castle (or what I assume is half way through). It became clear that I was suffering through it just because it has castlevania on the box, and there are much more worthy games out there.

Well, good luck! My metroidvania list is just way, way too long for me to bother not enjoying myself, and I want to check out some of these AI recomps of CV games I am hearing about
>>
>>750254485
This is the opposite of "filtered". Filtering is meant to leave the bad elements outside so the good ones get in. This is more like a scam. You get promised "this is castlevania, you know it! come play it!" but then you go play it and it's anything but. It cannot live to the expectations it sets because it's inherently a dishonest product... which sadly you can't really know before you actually play it, but a lot of people are jumping it without trying the demo (to be fair, I was one of those people, because I wanted to support a new release).

We Castlevaniafags have been suffering from years. To have to play through this ordeal of game is just masochistic at this point.
>>
>>750253359
Figured as much.
>>
>>750254713
This is is precisely. And it's not even unique to castlevania, either. Just look how Konami treats the Silent Hill fanbase. And there end up being so many similarities between the SH and the CV fans that it's not a mere coincidence
>>
>>750241865
They found a lot of tech on the game. but i feel with feedback the game will grow to be like SOR4 i mean SOR4 had a better foundation but the game can be better

>>
>>750254231
>Fun movement and the combat is different
Indeed which is why and how it's a great game.
>but they fucked the lore again, and the music, voice acting, characters and storyline are so irritating that it becomes a chore to slog through
I played with Japanese voice acting, but the Japanese voice acting is good at least. If the English is shit and you played with the English voices then that's a mistake on your part.
But they didn't fuck up the lore. Not in any way that hurt the game.
>but brauner shouldn't exist until a few hundred years later!
And this makes the game worse how? It allowed the game to have a painted world. If anything Brauner should just unironically become a mainstay like the other vampires that were conceptualized in the 1800s like Carmilla, Orlok/Nosferatu, and Dracula himself.
And if you tell me that Leon was disrespected by the game, then you're just lying. He is easily one of the most revered and respected characters of the game.
>>
>>750255218
By your rationale, adding the BMW 5 series with optional heated seating would be just fine because they're such cool cars and they should always have had them.

You just can't understand a castlevania fan's logic, which is perfectly fine, but makes this continued conversation a little redundant.

Which you prove by front-loading your reply with naming a bunch of obvious problems, then talking about how they're good actually.

I get it, you don't care. Why should you. But I do. And it seems like the vast majority of fans do.
>>
>>750254989
Stop acting as if Castlevania has been some super consistent unchanging series until now.

>>
>>750255298
Nice backpedalling, not to mention the disingenuous premise. If you have nothing to argue about just say that.
>>
>>750254231
>the game is fun to play but the 0.1% of it that is the story is not very good. 1/10.
>>
>>750255416
You're the one arguing how this isn't castlevania even tho the series hasn't been consistent in what it is.
>>
>>750255294
>By your rationale, adding the BMW 5 series with optional heated seating would be just fine because they're such cool cars and they should always have had them.
For one. No. That's not really equivalent at all. Vampires have always been thematically coherent and a focus of the franchise. Brauner lines up with that stuff perfectly, which is why Victor Brauner was adapted and made into a vampire for Portrait of Ruin to begin with.
It is not the equivalent to adding modern cars to the games.
That said. If some game focused some on time travel / time merging stuff to have more modern/future stuff mixed in with the old stuff, that could, potentially at least, be cool too. But even then some ordinary car might still be a tougher sell than some kind of weapon or whatever.

But no. Adding Brauner to a game set a few hundred years earlier. Is not the same as adding BMWs to the game all over the place.
You know that the other vampires of the franchise also make more sense in their established time periods right? And yet Castlevania just adds them to the games hundreds of years sooner. Because it cool. Adds to the gameplay. And doesn't actually ruin things.
>>
>>750255294
>>
>>750255550
I'm saying your premise is disingenuous because Castlevania has always had a relatively consistent and cohesive elements. You're just lying, and/or retarded.
>>750255667
Top kek.
>>
>>750255580
>tying yourself in knots to justify a character showing up 500 years too early for no reason other than "we wanted paintings and we skimmed the wiki"

Dawn of Sorrow is set in 2036. We're really dealing with superfans here, I see.
>>

>>
>>750255719
>relatively consistent and cohesive elements.
How was Symphony consistent with the previous liner stage based games? It added some much new shit, you'd probably lose your mind if it came out today.
>>
Castlevania has always been different. There's classicvania, igavania, and 3dvania. The DNA has changed so much between them it's hard to say there is one definitive Castlevania. So yes I'd say BC is definitely Castlevania.
>>
>>750253569
>the goyim devs of this goyslop have worse lore knowledge than who shills insult as larpers
lol
>>
>>750255874
>How was Symphony consistent with the previous liner stage based games?
anon, it literally starts with the final boss of Rondo...how much more consistent do you get than a DIRECT CONTINUATION
>>
What filtered you?
>>
>>750255874
So, you're saying a change in map and stage direction, while keeping everything else consistent, is somehow a complete and utter breach? Are you actually stupid or just pretending?
>>
>>750255968
Right, and all the different weapons, armors, spells, special abilities, backtracking, stats,... non of which were present in the previous games.
Comparing that difference, Belmont's cures is very much in line with igavanias.
>>
>>750256112
but BC has far less in it than the IGAvanias.
So it's a step down in every way?
>>
>>750256470
And? You can argue that it's not as good but you can't argue that it's not a Castlevania.
>>
>>750256585
>you can't argue that it's not a Castlevania
Order of Shadows is a Castlevania, too. Congratulations.
>>
>>750256585
I could draw a stick figure of Alucard playing baseball and write castlevania on it. It would be castlevania, but nobody would give a fuck. Much like Belmont's Curse. What people are saying when they say "it's not Castlevania" is that it doesn't meet their standards. As a dead cells game it's fine. As a Castlevania game, it doesn't pass muster. It's not good enough.

They're being nice, but they're saying the game is shitty.
>>
>>750256645
What's your argument here? That's it's a shit game?
>>
>>750256704
Dead Cells is a roguelite, why are you comparing it?
>>
>>750256713
My argument is that there are LOTS of castlevania games, and a lot of them are bad, and ignored by fans, who have a very exacting standard after being given bad games for many years. So BC probably sits somewhere between Order of Shadows and that mobile phone one with Elvis Belmont or whatever. Congratulations.
>>
>>750256753
>why are you comparing it?
You're seriously asking this question?
>>
>>750256112
You're doing the equivalent of comparing and apple to a lemon and saying "look, it's green but you have to peel it, and it's citric, and....", and then comparing the same lemon to a cheap sour candy.
>Belmont's cures is very much in line with igavanias.
It's Curse, and no ti isn't. It doesn't have the style, the aesthetics, the feel, the pace, nor the design philosophy. This game is as close to Symphony of the Night as Momodora is. Even something like Blasphemous would be closer. Or, you know, compare it to what it actually is, a Dead Cells clone.
>>750256585
>you can't argue that it's not a Castlevania
We can, at least in spirit. Obviously it's a Castlevania because it's literally in the name, but so is Castlevania Judgment, and nobody with an iota of intellect would say "you can't argue that it's not a Castlevania" to it.
>>
>>750254713
>because I wanted to support a new release).

I personally really like Castlevania Judgment. Would I go into ANY castlevania fanspace and start sperging about how it's true castlevania and a fresh new take and whatever? Fuck no, It'd be a stupid thing to do. Because it's just another redheaded stepchild of the franchise.
>>
>>750256854
being a westoid goyim is a state of mind tho, one i do not have
>>
>when creaking skull is a more popular character with fans than Rose Belmont
>>
>>750255738
>>tying yourself in knots to justify a character showing up 500 years too early for no reason other than "we wanted paintings
That's a perfectly good reason though. Completely unironically.
>>
>>750257228
You could come up with a reason that would make me fall to my knees and weep for the embrace of a loving God, but it wouldn't change the fact that the devs skimmed the wiki, wanted a "painting guy" and levered in Brauner, then said "uhh...he has a family of indentical vampire clones for 600 years lol"

Maybe BC would have been better if you wrote it
