This is the weirdest fucking game i've ever played so far, idk wtf is going on. But somehow it's not bad like the reviews suggest.
>>750245424It was pretty interesting 25 years ago but I can't imagine it's aged terribly well.
Isn't that a sequel? Play the first one first.
>>750245549Games age like wine though.
>>750245586In a vacuum, sure. But people's perceptions can change based on time and experience, and time brings experience. What was once a novel experience 25 years ago can feel terrible and dated now.
Its fantastic. Crazy fever dream game. Youll see shit in here youll remember forever. I keep my Dreamcast mainly for this game. Found this on archive.org I cant read slant eyed menace scribbles but its vibes.https://archive.org/details/d-2-deep-file/D2%20Deep%20File/mode/1up
>>750245424The text based rant at the end is naively endearing.
>>750245925I always loved the monster designs. I feel like they took a lot of inspiration from RE2's William and G-Monster.
I’ve always wanted to play it. Is the whole game about that lady making it out of the snowfield?
>>750245424Just wait till the ending. The final boss is wild.
bump
This and Galerians are games I definitely want to play at least once.
>>750248438Galerians is bad to play. I remember everyone glazing Dennou Eizo games a year ago because Marsh reviewed them.
>>750248438Galerians is weird because so much of the game you can just kill and run past the enemies with little to no effort, to the point I wondered if it was actually broken or if it shipped with some kind of mass error like how Overblood 2 did. It felt like by the time I completed the game I didn't know how half of the mechanics work and I just blindly finished the gameHas some cool vibes though for sure
>>750245549I played it when it first came out and no, it was not interesting then. The atmosphere is kind of nice and I like how grotesque it can be but it's an absolutely dog shit game.
>>750245424I remember characters talking for way too long in cutscenes, usually just repeating the point they already made, and exploring indoor locations was a pain. But winter vibes are some of the best.
d2 is a unique game because the creator made a completely passionate attempt at communicating "what the fuck is wrong with the world" in an almost unbelievably clumsy waythat's soul
>>750251872>Environment gud Hitler badWoah...
>>750245424Kenji Eno was an interesting fella
>>750245424I was playing this game when 9/11 happened.
>>750251781This. It was a bad game, no one really talked about it.
>>750252179It's true, though.
>>750251781>it was not interesting thenI don't think this is a fair take. The semi-open world with goddamn HUNTING FOR SURVIVAL was cool as hell to 13 year old me. The combat system was always weird, yes, but I was used to random encounters as a seasoned JRPG player at the time (I say "seasoned" but my greatest accomplishment at the time was beating FF1 (NES) at minimum level by the time I was 10 years old)
>>750251872>that's soulEverything on the Dreamcast was, in fact, soulful. It was the first console I bought that felt like a quality product and not just some child's toy.
>>750245424Wait till the final boss, it's absolutely wild.
