Should adventuring parties have healers and tanks, or are pure DPS plus utility compositions better?
Can we all agree that one female+male only party members > mixed party > loli party > one male+all female party members?
Should the tank always be the leader, or can leadership rotate based on the situation?
Does a mixed party create better romance subplots, or does it distract from the adventure?
Should all party members be unique class, or 3 katana dudes is cool too?
>>
every character in the game should be a loli

>one female+male only party members
I'm struggling to think of who this would even appeal to. Women don't play real video games so it can't be self-inserters.

Holy shit, zoomers and their retarded takes at it again
>>

It's statistically true. Gaming is still vastly male dominated outside of a very small handful of specific genres which women have always liked.
>>
>>750254109
>>Should adventuring parties have healers and tanks, or are pure DPS plus utility compositions better?
Purely defends on the game. In EO2 running defensive teams is gimping yourself because the meta is hyper-offense where random encounters should never live longer than 2 turns and bosses should be killed in <7.
Other games are more receptive to a variety of party styles.

>>Should the tank always be the leader, or can leadership rotate based on the situation?
Flexible. I usually like to think of the tank as the second-in-command that acts like the glue of the party.

>>Does a mixed party create better romance subplots, or does it distract from the adventure?
>implying you need mixed parties to have romance subplots

>>Should all party members be unique class, or 3 katana dudes is cool too?
In all games but EO5, unique is the way because the main class tends to define the role in the party, and you usually pick subclasses for specfic buffs or passives that augument what they were already doing.
In EO5 you have the specializations to meaningfully differentiate the classes in the midgame and beyond (i.e., Pugilist is either a bind specialist or a reckless DPS).

>>750255707
>team of gruff veterans who are fiercely protective over their party's adopted daughter/mascot
>hag with her shota squad strike team
>frumpy girl with ikemen host party members
Those are the three main dynamics I can think of.

>>750254109
adhering to tropes only limits your creativity, just build a functional party and let your brain tic tocs do the rest with what comes out from there on
what's the point of going into it if you already have your party dynamics pre established before the little dudes even hit the field?

I don't see how anyone can argue against this considering the more AAA games pander to women the worse they sell.
>>
>>750256814
It's because women overwhelmingly dominate casual gaming(shit like Candy Crush) which is something that people use to spin a narrative that gaming isn't mostly men anymore.
>>
>>750256814
>I don't see how anyone can argue against this considering the more AAA games pander to women the worse they sell.
Let's take diablo 2, warcraft 3, and especially world of warcraft for example
All three games famously tried to pander to housewives, casuals and women, all sold great
The second world of warcraft turned into shit, with focus on pandering gamers and tryhards in wotlk, with women leaving an mass. Sales went down.
Again, majority of 00s games that tried to copy popular thing and pander to gamers because this is what gamers want, instead of being games that everyone would enjoy, and how many of them failed horrible.
Sims, that went to shit the second it decided to focus on male audience with 4
Settlers clones, that decided to chase male audience and died out, because "gamers" are shit market that doesn't play games

Also, literally all nintendo games, because they make games for everyone.
Monster Hunters, the ones that targeted women always were more popular. But it's tricky, because World focused on male audience, and was the most popular, I admit it.

Best party doesn't exist for me, it's all down to creating interesting characters and writing good dialogue and stories for them. This is sadly almost non-existant in video games, I hope expedition 33 makes hiring good writers more of a priority in the future.

I will say if you're just doing low effort stuff with basic characters then just give me the male self insert and a group full of women who want my dick.

Some games make leadership characters like Rogue Trader has the officer class for example, but in most fantasy games it feels natural to have the leader walk in front of the party.

I definitely think they should all have unique classes, I guess if classes have very different builds you could get away with having a few of the same, like a fighter with sword and shield and one with a big two hander.
>>
>>750257158
>then just give me the male self insert and a group full of women who want my dick.
It's always cringe as fuck.
Except maybe final fantasy 5, maybe.
>>
>>750254109
The OG games imply the that *you* are the party leader, so there is already a male in the team and you don't need to self insert a character as one. Hence the rest of you team should be females.
>>
>>750257802
Don't all of them do this? You're being spoken to before you even recruit your first party members.
>>
>>750254109
>turn based game
>DPS
Max sure you mash through the menus for the most damage per second
>>
>>750257802
>>750257831
The game implies you are the first character you make.
That is why you are forced to make one as the guild leader "confirms your information" (or w/e specific terms they use in each game) and then are told you can recruit others.
>>
>>750257868
DPT (damage per turn) sounds like an illicit drug, plus people already associate "DPS" with "Retard character who only does damage"
>>
>>750257904
>The game implies you are the first character you make.
It's not implied but it is written in a way that gives you the option to self-insert. In EO1 you're spoken to as if you're someone who wants to make a guild and it's explicitly stated that, even though there aren't many guilds recruiting nobodies, there are a ton of nobodies sitting around waiting for the opportunity to join a guild. It's stated that you could register yourself in the guild roster(this is the option to self-insert as one of the party members.) If you leave the Explorer's Guild after forming your guild the guy calls you a fool for not bringing anybody along which implies you're you're not a registered party member.

Like everything else in EO the interpretation is open to the player for roleplay purposes. You can self-insert as one of the party members or you can be the faceless guild leader whose job is to guide everyone.
>>
>>750257802
>The OG games imply the that *you* are the party leader, so there is already a male in the team and you don't need to self insert a character as one.
Is that a bait, literally all games tell you that you would be a loser if you decided to join other guild so go make a new one. So no, all games literally say that you are the adventurer

To be fair, if more games were made for a female audience there would be more female players. The problem is that most games "for women" are either casual indie games or deliberately subversive AAA slop that nobody of either sex likes.
Based on the ones I've talked to, all they really want is normal games but genderbent. Cute/pretty female protagonist, eyecandy men, female-oriented stories and aesthetics, and good gameplay. BG3 blew up with them for a reason.
>>
>>750261217
>To be fair, if more games were made for a female audience there would be more female players.
There is no data to suggest this is true. Multiple studios have made multiple attempts at making a regular video game "for girls" and not a single one of them have blown up as a success story. Fact of the matter is video games simply aren't pushed as something females should care about. They spend their money on trends and makeup and designer products because that's what marketing and other women tell them to buy.
>>750261217
>BG3 blew up with them for a reason.
Because of the ability to romance pretty boys. Same reason Love in Deepspace became massively popular with women. You can't expect every game to have romancing with pretty men.

Most women don't even like BG3 for BG3. You watch male streamers play the game and they talk about builds. You watch females streamers play the game and they're completely clueless the whole time but they won't shut up about how wet Astarion makes them.

Diablo 2 wasn't success now?
Wow, you hit a new low with your history revisionism, retarded zoomie
>>
>>750261770
Diablo 2 was a game made "for girls"? What the hell are you on about?
Give me a few examples of stand out successes that aren't casual games(such as Candy Crush and other mobile bullshit), sim games(The Sims), farm games(Harvest Moon) games with romancing systems(BG3), or princess/dress up games(Princess Maker/Dressmaker.)

It's not a coincidence that many of those types of games have a lot of overlapping systems. Gee, I wonder why? It's almost as if specific genres have always had high appeal for females and outside of those genres the gaming industry is still massively male dominated.

Blizzard literally stated many time in pre release game mag interviews about wanting boarder audience, including soccer moms
>>750262054
See>>750257029 >>750257106
But outside of wow, we can include many mmos of early 00s, it's not surprise that they all went to shit when they decided to pander "male core gamers", instead of people who want to fucking relax and play game.
Monster hunter is unironically amazing series to showcase it, games that pandered to female gamers and teens(fu, p3rd(shop lines were amazing, gu, rise) were better recieved than the ones that tried to pander male gamers who instead of having fun, wanted to spend nights watching cinematics and doing pointless shit instead of playing game(With World literally being the only exception, while dos, tri and 4 really suffered from focusing on incel gaming)
You bring up farm sims, but no shit, everything about it is pure gameplay, instead of time waste on "muh feeling and atmosphere".
From games, neverwinter nights had massive female audience so there was big appeal to them, and destroyed in sales majority of crpg that focusing on pandering male gamers like nwn2. Same with kotor(a lot of female fans back in the day) vs kotor2(only male fans)

Which ones and what games?
>Because of the ability to romance pretty boys
And the customization, roleplay, story, gameplay, graphics, etc. It blew up with women because it was a good, high-budget game that they could play without feeling alienated.
>>750262054
The problem is that those games aren't being made, and the few that are are low-budget indie projects. Many games for a general or even mostly male audience like TLoZ, Fire Emblem, Final Fantasy, Resident Evil, etc. are popular with women, as is anything with a cute or inoffensive mascot like Kirby, Hollow Knight, Ori, etc. They also seem to really like Soulslikes, and some multiplayer games have big female populations too. There's a lot they'll play even without being pandered to.
I'm not saying they need to be pandered to more, just that more would play if games that appealed to them were made, and that means normal games that cater to them, not just casual cozy games that treat them like retards.
>>
>>750262786
Anon you're completely off the mark and for some reason you're not looking at representation as a percentage. Yes, there were a lot of girls who played Elden Ring... because the game was a monumental success and a ton of people played it in general. There are no official statistics but all known community polling has males as the overwhelming majority of players. You're trying to use logic that would imply they enjoy souls games more than they enjoy farming games because there were more females who played Elden Ring than there were females who played Harvest Moon. That's an extremely flawed conclusion.

A non-relative number does not matter. Developer intention does not matter. The only thing that matters is the balance between male and female and males make up a substantial majority of players in most genres. This is a fact. Females primarily play casual/sim/dating/etc games. This is a fact. My initial statement can not be disputed.
>>
>>750262693
>Literally doesn't count
Lmao
Typical zoomie who never even experienced gaming of 90s and 00s, and only came to hobbie after devs decided to focus on pandering to him and other incels, and ruined gaming.
Also, funny how you couldn't even provide a single example of game focusing on female audience and failing
>>
>>750263385
>fallacy
This is why I accepted your concession.
>>
>>750263065
>doesn't list which ones or which games
Lol, lmao.
>That's an extremely flawed conclusion
Good thing that that wasn't even remotely what I was saying, then. What I'm telling you is that various genres of games are popular with women, not just casual/sim/dating/etc. That is fact, which you corroborated by saying Elden Ring was a monumental success that a ton of people played in general. A 10% female player base of a game with a million players means that 100,000 women played it. That's not insignificant. So many women playing without being pandered to is proof enough that they like non-casual video games plenty.
Men being the overwhelming majority of players in any given genre is because the gaming industry has, for its entire duration, made games primarily and often only for them. My whole point is that if games were made for women the same way, more women would play, and that you don't have to change the genre or the gameplay to do so. That's it.
Women won't play Stellar Blade, but they do play Lies of P. They didn't want to play Crimson Desert until the female protagonist mod came out, but they were still dissatisfied with being treated as a man in the game. Women were disappointed that P3R removed Kotone and that Atlus stated they would no longer make games with female protagonists.
Obviously women also like casual games, but that isn't the only thing they like, and even within casual game communities many have said they're tired of only having low-budget casual games made for them. That's all.

Leader should be whoever has the right personality for it
Tanks are often loud mouthed or stoic or somewhere inbetween, but a 500IQ wizard in the backrow might make better decisions than the musclebrained retard in front
EIther Male/Female depends on game. Anime games all female, western games mixed is better or even full male.
Romance is gay unless its a harem route. Having two party members dick each other is just awkward.
Unique classes unless you can build the same class in completely different ways.
