The first season is okay despite its flaws.

Dracula and his wife are great, Trevor and Sypha range from good to bad depending on whether they’re holding the idiot ball, Alucard is good outside of season 3 what the fuck, St Germain is great before his character was also assassinated to asspull an antagonist for his next season, every single scene focusing on Simon should be skipped, and Isaac is the best written character with clear development and no unbelievably stupid choices driving the plot because he’s practically removed from it and doing his own thing.

Almost every single character in Nocturne, returning and new, is varying shades of insufferable. Julius an exception but he’s not the main character.

The action was good but overall it was meh. The showrunner knew fuckall about Castlevania and wanted one of Dracula's generals to be Mathias Cronqvist even though Mathias becomes Dracula. Also he hated Grant which is why we hear about a guy with a landboat but never see him. Adi Shankar is also an issue, he can produce a good action anime but he hates video games and insists on having a self-insert.

Nocturne shouldn't have been a Castlevania thing at all, it should've just been its own thing and taken place entirely in the Americas. Instead we got someone's OC dressing down Richter fucking Belmont. Some guy on tumblr who claimed not to work for the show but who had a lot of character art said that the whole Haitian revolution plotline was a late rework and I find that very easy to believe.
