>>750263923Kind of an oversimplification but essentially yes.The cutthroat work culture of Asia leads them to romanticize youth. In the west, being middle aged is similarly hyped up because you're still relatively healthy and strong but you're likely at your peak financially and on terms of influence and respect in the world.
>>750263823Japan values youth, as it is the best time of their lives. Energetic, cheerful, optimistic, and fertile.Westoids worship elderly, because they believe age to result more authority and wisdom. In case of NieR, the Western release was handled by MICROSOFT, who seriously thought that a young "prettyboy" MC would not sell in the West. Obviously, they'd never heard of Final Fantasy, Persona, or even MGS for that matter. This seemingly "minor" change completely alters the theme and atmosphere of the game, changes the whole story. There's also shittons of pure, unadulterated censorship in Gestalt.
