As far as 3D platforms go, it's easily D-tier. The fact that they included Rare memberberries is insulting.

It spiritually flopped. No one talks about it anymore and if they do it's in relation to not having a new 3D Mario. Nintendo fucked up bigly.

I go back and do a few Emerald Rush runs every month. The gamefeel of Bananza is just so fucking good.

i couldn't get into it, I stopped playing after the 6th or 7th layer. It did nothing wrong but nothing engaging either for it to click.
I do think Nintendo expected this to sell like crazy, people don't understand a game can sell 10million copies and not meet expectations.

I had a lot more fun with it than DK64.

Think the reason the game left no great impression is because lets be blunt, gamers have long since moved on from Donkey Kong. This franchise went niche after Rare stopped working on it. And the last game DK64 wasn't considered a great one. Donkey Kong has a better standing than Star Fox, but that's not saying much when newcomer franchises like Animal Crossing and Splatoon humiliate the big ape in sales. The industry doesn't miss DK all THAT much.

Nah, it's B- tier at worst. The smashing leading to lack of any real level design really brings it down IMO

>literally the best collectathon platformer of all time
>"uhhh actually it's a 7/10 huehuehue"

>make game with actually cool movement tech
>completely ignore it in level design
Nintendo can be so infuriating as a company. It's like they're always at war with themselves in their design choices. It's the same with Mario Kart World. On the one hand, cool mechanics that are promising for skill flexing. On the other, dumbing the entire game design down. It's genuinely baffling

Normally, I'd try to be optimistic and say that it was an awkward first attempt that will be improved for the sequel but at this point, I'll assume the worst and say that they'll never experiment with the movement again.

I'd have fun with an improved, Bananza-style game starring Yoshi or Wario for the next round.

Game of the decade.
