>pour your heart and soul into making a game
>streamers spoil it all by showing everything for free
>while making money off of you
You can't stream Netflix movies, why can you stream games?
>>
that's why you make a game instead of a barely interactive movie
>>
>>750280924
If your “game” is shallow enough that it can be experienced in its entirety on YouTube then you didn’t make a game but a movie. Someone watching a play through of Ninja Gaiden Black on YouTube would not have the same experience as the person playing it, someone watching a play through of The Last of Us would.
>>
It's as easy as saying in the store where the game is hosted, as well as in the game itself that you do not consent to it being streamed.
If streamers still do it then they are basically rapists. Their audience would eat them alive.
>>
>>750280924
this game and most indi horror games are made for stremers they have been since amnesia
>>
>streamer plays game
>some people who would of never seen your game before have now seen it
>some of those people who would of never bought it will now buy it

/v/ vastly underestimates how many streamers help sell games. Parasocial bonds with streamers force their fans to buy all sorts of bullshit.
Do you own a copy of Bad Rats on your steam? That started by a streamer sparky.

I watched the first TLoU out of boredom some time after it released before it got a release on PC. It was unironically better as a youtube video than actually playing it, the gameplay is that shallow.

This game had an interesting idea, but shit execution. Doesn't help that they had to ruin the "judge" character by giving him a shitty 3D kill scene instead of keeping it mysterious.
>>
>>750281059
But then you have to deal with animations, clipping, collisions, etc etc
Who can do all that?
>>
>>750280924
if it werent for streamers nobody would buy this indie novelty slop
>>
>>750280924
Sounds like a (You) prob, buddy.
>>
>>750280924
the same rules apply to movies and games actually. you are free to copyright strike gameplay, Atlus does it pretty frequently for the first week or so of new games
>>
actually tons of streamers do "movie nights"

commentating over it is enough for it to be "transformative"

think mst3k

Let me stop you right there Johnny. To you, this game might seem like a very deep artistic auteur piece due to its exotic Eastern European qualities from your perspective. But as an Ivan, I can see that this game, albeit indeed having some artistic merit, is also a rushjob where the dev team didn't think many things through past the strength of the initial concept.

Some of the weird artsy and cryptic dialogue (half of what the bald prophet man and the tall scary man say) are literally just direct quotes from Russian 80s-90s era rock songs. Not some obscure bands either, these are from Viktor Tsoi and Egor Letov, both of whom were literally babby's first cult classic rock stars for Russians. Why are there random quotes from unrelated songs in the game's dialogue? Because the devs thought it sounded cool. The mushroom ending is also a huge shitpost and a reference to the old Kraina Grzybów series. The baby ending is a random Biblical allusion that doesn't connect to anything else in the game. The vigilante neighbor is a reference to Not Important, etc. A lot of things in the game exist for the sake of references first and with any thought of how to fit them into the world second.

In Russia, the prevailing opinion is that most of the endings are incomprehensible dogshit. Now, it might be because an average Ivan is a plumber retard who couldn't even attempt to interpret a metaphor to save his life... But that doesn't mean the endings aren't weak and underwhelming in their own right and that there game doesn't have a lot of superfluous references.
>>
More like
>have an interesting demo
>barely do anything to expand upon it with the full release
>do jack shit with the plot, vaguepost: the game
>make the retarded decision to include randomization
>>
>>750280924
>make actual game and not streamer slop
>people will want to buy and play it for themselves
deserved to quite honest with you family

Oneyplays recent play of the game is my first time ever actually seeing the game. My first time seeing Sarah get killed was with them making jokes about it.
>>

I always think it's funny how so much gets lost in translation. It's happened a lot with Italians too, thinking about Grezzo2, Vampire Survivors and the brainrot memes.
>>
>>750281237
The game has many problems but I don't think this is one of them.
This is a curious thing with Americans discussing horror, you guys make a huge deal out of "not showing le monster" and "letting your imagination do the work", basically any form of horror actually trying to be intense and brutal is seen as low-brow and looked down on.I don't think it's because you all have such vivid imaginations, I think many people are just taken out of their comfort zone by excessive displays of brutality, same for jumpscares.
>>
>>750280924
this was the worst game I pirated this year
>>
>>750280924
It sold a lot of copies and made the dev plenty of money. What's the problem?
>>
why is the cat so powerful?
>>
>>750281945
You have a point that the rule doesn't need to be that it has to be "unseen", there's a million ways you can build up something terrifying while showing it, but the way they pulled it off was laughable. I think you're conflating the idea of what they were going for with what actually happened in execution.

>>750280924
There are games that have filed dmcas against streamers.
