You can’t beat this game blind. You either look up a build or get fucking destroyed. Why don’t any of you just be honest and admit from your first run you looked up a build for each character?

This game is incredible for the sheer variety of builds and branching story paths. But nobody beat this game blind. ONE CRPG vet spent 40-90 hours figuring it all out first and then you read a guide knowing who your companions are, when you get them, and how to activate your Lich mythic path. This game is incredible and a marvelous feat of software engineering. But you did NOT beat it blind.

I don't know what game that is but you sound like a faggot
>>
>>750281646
You can actually
It's not that fucking hard. It';s just basic dnd slop
>>
>>750281646
being completely unplayable without reading the manual is a tradition of CRPGs
>>
>>750281646
i played on normal, only used the obvious strong buffs like haste and resist energy, and did okay with basic dnd experience of bab, ac, saves, and the importance of dispelling enemy buffs when possible. basically, skill issue

There’s NO way you’re telling me you sat in this menu for 5 characters (plus mounts/pets) for 20 base levels, PLUS mythic and didn’t shit out some worthless non-working build, BLIND. No way. Just no way. Someone playing this BLIND would try and create a basic offensive build on ONE character then get RAPED because their parties AC average is too low.

You LIE

In my defense and the defense of the game I did have prior knowledge from playing neverwinter nights so understand how DND works on a basic black bitch level

Even then the fucking class descriptions and spell descriptions are there
There's a lot of slop but at the end of the day: seelah is a tank, one of the two bug thing people you started with did dps and your class is whatever

It's not that fucking hard
You need a tank, healer, DPS and maybe something for crowd control
You just need to understand 'high number on enemy = make your number higher'
>>
>>750282208
Where do I learn how to make DnD builds so I can play Baldurs gate
>>
>>750282132
Don’t forget everyone in these threads lies about their multiclass dipped frankenstein monk-paladin-witch-oracle hybrid
>>
>>750282341
BG1 and 2 or BG 3
Because 1 and 2 are vastly ,vastly different to 3
3 is more of a shitty tactics games

>>750282406
Can you do more than 3 classes?
>>
>>750281646
just play on a lower difficulty, Owlcat's idea of balance is casting every buff in the game before every fight to even have a decent chance of winning
>>
>>750282080
Don't project your idiocy
>>
>>750282080
Nigga you either retarded or you decided to play on unfair for your first run. You can just go 20 levels into everyone's starting class and you'll beat the whole game just fine
>>
>>750282490
you can multiclass as many different ones as you want, the ultraminmaxxers will just dip 1 level into some to get passives

>set all compaions to autolevel up
>get fucking DESTROYED
>do a build I found online
>have to level up each character one at a time but roll fights

Why are CRPGs reccomended builds always shit?
>>
>>750283064
The autolevel is fine, anon
Did you perhaps not learn to play?
>>
>>750282941
>planning
>I found a guide on neoseeker and did my heccin broken diceroll to break le game xD
>I am so smart for this le guide I found online
Cope.
>>
>>750283064
because the devs hate players and want to sit atop their illusory mountain of hardcore gaming elitism. It’s openly acknowledged and accepted that everyone uses guides for these games.
>>
>>750283224
Anon, we've established YOU are the fucking problem here
The game isn't hard on normal difficulty
The fucking basic classes you start with are simplistic and easy to fucking understand
Unless you are a retard and don't realize how to read (which is possible) the ingame stuff, you shouldn't have a problem.

What class is your main character? We can help you. We'll get you a 'kino build' right now. Free. In fact, I'd even like to visit you to play the game for you if you'd like.

The difficulty settings are basically the same as in all other peer games. The first difficulty is the same as first difficulty, second the second, etc. So, if you have a game with e.g. Journalist/easy/normal/hard/death march, then core on WotR is equivalent to death march - the sort of difficulty non-retarded players should be capable of beating the game on their first run blind. Like, I've beaten the game with fighter-only party on core and it turned out not to even be a challenge run (granted, fighter is a good class, and I was building them efficiently, but that's not exactly a setup with high degree of synergy). It's only hard and unfair that are exceptional, and the game says in big red warning letters that you shouldn't play them if you don't just know how to powergame Pathfinder 1e in general, but this game specifically (ie. not be playing for the first time).
>>
>>750281646
D&D and Pathfinder are dogshit.
>>
>>750283224
>>I found a guide on neoseeker
People turned this into a meme back then because the builds there are terrible.
>>
>>750281646
Metafags are so tedious. Just play whatever class seems cool or fun and drop the difficulty if it ends up being 2% less optimized or whatever.
>>
>>750281646
buff slop
>>
>>750283745
It's often worse than that since many of the supposed "meta" builds don't really come online until act 2, 3, even 5 in some cases. When "being good" in act 5 is literally just overkill since even self-handicapping builds should be finishing encounters during the first round on unfair. After all, supposing you are powergaming, your above-par (party) building decisions run ahead of the intended difficulty curve (and the game is kinda intended to be a power fantasy anyhow): for this reason the tutorial, followed by act 1, followed by act 2, should really be the optimization target for making the playthrough as smooth as possible.
>>
>>750281646
I did. I was, however, already familiar with D&D 3.5, and Pathfinder's rules aren't much different.

>>750283064
The default companion builds suck compared to hyper-optimized builds, but if you aren't cranking the difficulty up all the way they're perfectly serviceable.
>>
>>750281646
Btw I just vibe coded the vexing daredevil subclass for mesmerist and im going through act 4 for a trickster playthrough.

Got tired of playing a mesmerist then casting phantasm killer only to find the mobs being immune to fear.

Also running a lich playthrough at the same time. This is one of my favorite games of all time.

Let me know if anyone isninterested in a vexing daredevil mesmerist subclass

On the other hand, are they better or worse than a novice would pick on their own? None of the builds have Outflank, say, so if a noob happens to pick it then their build is almost automatically better regardless of what they do with the rest of the feats. Ditto for picking a weapon, any weapon, and grabbing improved critical feats.

I reckon an expert player could beat the game with story companion autoleveled builds and one of the preset main characters on hard (there is still quite a lot of oomph you can get from full divine and arcane buffs, good and luck domain, paladin mark of justice and double hexes) so it's not like running default builds hardlocks you out of beating the game on normal - a first-timer playing blind should manage it just fine even with the default builds - but on the other hand, they are giga bad, almost trolling the players like.
>>
>>750286585
There's a loadscreen hint that basically says OUTFLANK IS VERY POWERFUL TRY PICKING IT
>>
>>750286621
Isn't it worded something like "teamwork can make your team really powerful"?

When in fact outflank is the only reliably good one and the rest range from "situational" or "not a priority but not bad" to outright trap options. Shake it off is probably the best one because numerically it's really solid (up to +4ST is basically 6x better than a feat like iron will that is +2 to a single save) but the best way to pass saving throws is to build offence so enemies are dead before you have to make the same or to take advantage of immunities like protect from alignment: evil. Tandem trip is good *if* you have multiple trippers. Shield wall would be all right *if* you had two characters with a shield but that is also super specific and also bad (not just in the sense that shield builds generally aren't that good, but you don't really need nor want more than one "tank" so it's almost wasted on the other character). Allied spellcaster is fine as a luxury feat but realistically it's saves that you have more trouble with. And precise strike is "ok" and trivial to trigger but precision damage is bad since it rolls DR separately and demons tend to have DR, many of the tougher enemies are completely immune to precision damage, and crit-unmodified damage is roughly half the value (third the value for tricksters) of crit-modified damage anyhow so it's actually worse than weapon specialization even against enemies that take full precision damage. And then there are literal trap option teamwork feats like volley fire that does literally nothing if you focus fire (or there is only one target).
>>
>>750287609
yeah a lot of the teamwork feats aren't worth the slot since that slot has more value to more consistent feats
>>
Story and easy could be beaten by a child. Normal can be beaten as long as you don't make purposefully retarded choices like taking 1 level in every single class or making a 5 INT Wizard. Daring and Core can be beaten with anything as long as you make smart choices. Hard needs a bit of metagaming, but it can be beaten while sticking to a single class and choosing the best companions. Only on Unfair do you need to powergame like crazy, and even then it gets much easier as the game goes on to the point where there is almost no difference between Unfair and Hard, save for a couple of fights.
>>
>>750281646
You picked core, didn't you? Either way you should've played Kingmaker first to get yourself familiar with the system.
>>
>>750283626
Yeah

>>750281646
you can if your IQ is above 89
>>
>>750281646
If you've played other games like NWN then you know how to play this. If you don't, there's nothing wrong with looking up info on how the game works.
