I've played better
>>
Don't worry lil bro, I'm sure you'll play well next time.
>>
>>750285260
yeah, super metroid
>>
>>750285260
yeah, silksong
>>
>>750285260
There's like 6 3D metroidvania games in total
>>
>>750285975
five of them are Metroid Prime
>>
>>750285260
Played through the remastered version for the first time recently and it's a fucking slog. I "beat" the game but now it's making me find 12 magical McGuffins to play the actual final boss and I just fucking gave up. If I knew it was a fucking collectathon I'd have never wasted $30 on this overrated trash.
>>
>>750285975
Did you remember to count all the Souls games?
>>
>>750286061
Yeah that's the problem when really digging in to 3D metroidvanias
>>750286147
I'd only count DS1 and maybe 2 but mainly 1. 3 is a corridor with like 2 branches and Elden Ring is open world
>>
>>750285260
Not for the time you haven't
>>
>>750286206
>Elden Ring is open world
And?
>>
>>750286267
There's more honest, direct ways to say you have no idea what you're talking about, retard-kun
>>
>>750286267
Prime 4 still pretends to be structured like a metroidvania despite having the shitty desert. Literally if you just replaced the desert with a real metroid style hub area like temple grounds from prime 2 it wouldn't have been as bad. Elden Ring is a tried and true open world
>>
>>750285260
It’s comical watching you faggots pretend any 2d metroid game is as good as the first 2 prime games
>>
>>750286414
>if you just removed the open world, it wouldn't be an open world anymore
>as opposed to ER, which would still be an open world if you removed the open world
>>
>>750286526
you cannot do the actual zones out of order. The desert is just some big ass intermediate map with some collectibles
>>
>>750286526
Prime 4's desert is functionally just a hub world with little to do in it. It's not integrated into the rest of the game's systems beyond the final fetch quest. Elden Ring by comparison has enough bullshit to find in the open world to make it comparable to ubisoft open worlds. You're meant to spend time in there finding little caves and clearing mini dungeons to get souls and equipment. Exploring the wide open space is an integral part of the gameplay loop. In prime 4 you point your stupid bike toward the entrance to the next zone you just got told you need to go to and then hold accelerate until you're there. The 3 botw shrines that are in the desert don't make that section into an open world in the same sense as something like elden ring is
>>
>>750286073
Not enough people acknowledge how shit the artifact hunt is, you can only get like four throughout the game, which leaves like eight more after Phazon mines
>>
>>750286414
I would have shrunk the desert a bit, merged Ice Belt with Volt Forge, made Fury Green a dynamic that emerges within Sol Valley, and locked Sol Valley to be the final area of the game before Chrono tower.

controller FPS of course it's shit
>>
>>750288530
Too many people overblow how bad the artifact hunt is, the game literally tells you what rooms each one is in and you can unlock the extra powerups along the way that you couldn't before
It's not the best but it's not the unrepentant dogshit so many people claim it is
Now the wind waker triforce hunt however, that sucks and takes way too long even if you know where you're going
>>
>>750285975
You have to add Banjo-Tooie.

>>
>>750285260
It's always been aggressively mediocre but shilled to high heaven. I'm somewhat shocked that opinions on it are finally normalizing.
>>
>>750285260
This game felt dated even back when it first came out. It had awful controls and gameplay in comparison to Halo. The glowing praise for this snoozefest always baffled me.
>>
Oh cool, retarded pleb general
>>
>>750288530
11 of 12 artifacts are attainable pre phazon suit.
>>750289648
>the game literally tells you what rooms each one is in
The problem is you don't HAVE to go into the artifact temple until endgame. I think that majority of people who hate the artifact collection did it ALL at the end. You can hear it in how they describe the event, like its some big shock or something, where if you went into that mysterious room with the missile door next to your dropoff point, and you are paying attention to the "clues" you can have about half of the artifacts already. Getting the rest of the artifacts is less than an hour of backtracking, and you can pick up items too.
>>
>>750290805
not pre grapple hook, not pre power bomb, not pre plasma beam,
>>
>>750290805
>you can have about half of the artifacts already
You need at minimum X-ray, Power Bomb, and Plasma Beam to get a bunch of the artifacts and on top of that the X-ray ones are in random portions of random rooms. Unless someone accidentally jumps on one of the invisible platforms in Magmoor they won't even know to look with X-ray, and the the one in the random pillar of a room is another example that it's not easily found at all. You also have to randomly backtrack to certain rooms when you have certain items like that one in Magmoor near the Space Pirate facility near the statue. Lots of people are not gonna do these things.
>>
>>750291532
NTA but again the game tells you what rooms they are in right at the start of the game. Not that illiterate me knew that as a kid but it is telegraphed pretty clearly to someone with functional reading skills
>>
>>750289739
I have never played a rare game so I can't say how accurate it would be to call that a metroidvania style game
>>
>>750292074
Yes, I know they tell you. The point is more that you won't have the tools necessary to even follow up on those clues and many things like the rocks requiring Power Bombs to break won't even be clear until you actually get the Power Bombs and it tells you what it breaks. Going to the artifact room also means returning to the ship when it's not really necessary at that point. You might visit it when going for Space Jump since at that point it's right there and you have missiles, but not everyone does.

A lot of the artifacts in general require one of those three items even if you know the clues.
>>
>>750292147
I've played Tooie for the first time during the pandemic. Fun game but calling it a metroidvania is basically 90% bullshit.
The last 10% is Grunty Industries, which is like 5 times more interesting flow-wise than any other level in that game.
>>
>>750291532
All I am saying is if you really hate the endgame collectathon THAT much, you could break it up into smaller chunks mixed in with item cleanup. I dont even like the artifact hunt, but its really not THAT bad. Its just a bit of backtracking as an excuse to power up for Meta Ridley and Metroid Prime, which both have a pretty big difficulty jump compared to the rest of the game.

The real problem is Samus. Moving her is just not fun, so when you strip away new environments and great atmosphere, and are just left with here moving slowly from room to room for 1-2 hours, it sucks. If artifact hunting was in Super Metroid, i don't think nearly as many people would complain, because moving Samus around in SM, even if you have nothing to do, feels great.
>>
>>750292778
>calling it a metroidvania is basically 90% bullshit
NTA, but I disagree. It feels like the perfect description to do away with the crowd that like to claim something something Kazooie is better. They just don't like metroidvanias is all.
>>
>>750293125
>All I am saying is if you really hate the endgame collectathon THAT much, you could break it up into smaller chunks mixed in with item cleanup.
The point is that there's no way to mitigate the tedium, most players are rightfully going to save 80% of the artifacts to do right at the end, so it's done in one sweep, and that one sweep will send you everywhere. The world is not sufficiently connected like a good metroidvania should be.
>>
Playing the remastered version because I never finished the game on Gamecube.
After a few hours I remembered why I dropped the game back then, it's a slog and it has poorly aged. I will finish it this time though, but don't think I will ever play another Prime game.
I can bet than the huge majority of people who played it dropped midway through.
>>
>>750294220
>I can bet than the huge majority of people who played it dropped midway through.
If you look at Prime 2's sales this is almost certainly true lol.
>>
>>750285260
Metroid really only has one notable game and that’s Super. The rest range from merely ok to outright bad.
>>
>>750294556
That's the sad truth. Nintendo really never knew what to do with it.
