BioWare intended to accommodate all three major Mass Effect 3 endings: Destroy, Control, and Synthesis. The proposed solution was to advance the timeline by 600 years, allowing technological and political developments to bring the different versions of the galaxy closer together.

Control Ending: Shepard's consciousness assumes control of the Reapers. They survive, but technological progress makes them less dominant. For the MEU, the Reapers are no longer at the top of the food chain, so eventually control is no longer possible.

Destroy Ending: Reapers eliminated; Shepard survives the original battle, but dies sometime during the following six centuries. Civilization rebuilds, developing advanced technology and cybernetic integration without Reapers.

Synthesis ending: Organic and synthetic life are transformed. Over the centuries, the other timelines supposedly catch up technologically through increasingly widespread cybernetic integration. "Synthesis" happens regardless of the ending you choose in ME3, at least in terms of organics becoming blended with synthetics.

Other notes:

Refusal would not be canon;

After the Reaper War, all races would be stuck on Earth with the Citadel cut off from the rest of the galaxy, until technological advancement allowed them to rebuild the relays over time

The Geth would have been back and considered a superpower (but their return is not explained if destroy is chosen at this time)

"The player is an N7 agent, and the gameplay would have been more evocative of James Bond and John Wick with hand-to-hand combat in enclosed spaces. The new hero would have had experimental tech in their head that would allow them to interact in the world in ways similar to Cyberpunk 2077’s hacking," -kotaku.com

What are your thoughts? Assuming all of this is true, are you still happy with the ending you chose, and what would you have hoped would have happened in the Mass Effect Universe?

who the fuck cares about leaks from a game that will never be made?

The IP could still be sold to another company no? Assuming someone would want to pick it up.

It is shit without Shepard. So I'm glad it was cancelled and all of them out of jobs.

>Who cares about videogames on /v/
The /v/ on this board stands for Videogames, my chudcel poster. I know most of you "people" see this site as /pol/ for children, but it's not.

>Nothing that happened in the original trilogy matters
>Back to the old status quo, several factions at peace but antagonistic to each other
>Mysterious third party is threatening the peace
>Somehow, Harbinger has returned!

This is the same formula the star wars sequels tried, EA made the right call here

>What are your thoughts?
they could have actually made the game in six years instead of all this bullshit pretending they were going to make one before getting deleted. it's all pointless.
>>
>>750305736
bro they couldn't even make 3 different endings for ME3 and you are expecting me to believe the newest game is gonna play completely different depending on which ending you choose at the end of the last game? its all just bullshit no one with more than 2 braincells to rub together should fall for this shit
>>
>>750305736
That sounds stupid and is just a repeat of the Veilguard approach to past games, which is making nothing in them matter at all.

Who gives a shit. It was going to be woke slop with pronoun horseshit. I don’t care about the stupid trailer or the faggot with the video. It was going to have transsexual/pansexual relationship bullshit and strong, ugly black women in positions of authority. They probably wanted to bring Cerberus back (Human supremacists that work as their analogue to white supremacists) to play the evil racist villains that threaten the mix-race, degenerate, progressive cloaca that is the galaxy. Their main villain would be an analogue to Trump or Musk or Putin. Who gives a fucking shit. Glad it’s dead. Fuck off.

>the Reapers are no longer at the top of the food chain, so eventually control is no longer possible.
Wat? The races of the galaxy would just make their own Reapers at that point.

Sorry loser, I'll believe the guy whose reputation and continued employment hinges on people believing nothing was his fault.
The new Mass Effect game would have been a triumphant return to form. A tour de force adventure full of "Buzzword", "Current Trend", and "that thing that you, you personally, always wanted in a Mass Effect game".
>>
Why would you skip 600 years, Im glad it died for this alone. It was just Andromeda 2
>>
>>750305982
what videogame can i pay where this would matter
>>
>>750305736
Would unironically be fine if not for the forced 600 year time-skip to align it with Andromeda.

These points basically outline a future where the ME3 endings didn't matter at all, which is great because they suck anyway, but it uses the 600 year skip lazily as a non-explanation to say that "eh, something happened so it doesn't matter" when it could just as well have set a game 10 years after ME3 where most characters are alive, and the setting is still a Near-Future Sci-fi, and say that "Hey they didn't matter because that shit was stupid" and we'd have a kickass game in the same setting with new mysteries and plot developments to unravel.

And I could even throw in a retard time dilation mechanic that makes it so that the gap between Andromeda and this galaxy has a Eezo phenomenon that changes time-relativity but it's the opposite of the interstellar thing, so instead of Coop seeing his family grow old while he was away, it's actually Ryder and co. experiencing themselves grow old (unless they stayed in cryo) while they traveled through dark space, so because most didn't, and the phenomena isn't corrupting the Andromeda galaxy itself fully, the travel-time in relativity across dark space between Milky Way and Andromeda only lasts 6 years outside the dark-space border, but inside of the dark-space area it takes 600 years to do it, for anyone actually traveling. Therefore, to scale any meaningful travel between the 2 galaxies a special relay has to be built that can stay "massless" across the eezo distortions, and make near-instantaneous travel work.

And then you can have your crossbreed between a kino-effect game and an Andromeda 2 maybe as a sequel to this new game.
>>
Sounds like they started with keeping Andromeda relevant, and wrote their way backwards from there: the time skip, the time scale of reconstruction and technological progress, etc. I'm glad this never got made.

You know what game handled this better? The Ur-Quan Masters.
>20 years after the galactic war, the players find out the good guys lost and now you have to pick up the pieces
This game just wanted to be Mass Effect 2 + Hitman, with almost no fundamental changes to galactic civilization as presented in the first game.

>What are your thoughts?
That all this is free to put on paper, and given their actual output since ME2, they would have royally fucked up the implementation
>>
I hate Andromeda because it's the realization of my fear that after Mass Effect 3, Mass Effect would be designed like Inquisition and later Veilguard. I'm not saying this was some perspicacious prognostication on my part, either. It was obviously going to happen.

No I’m not happy, the ending of me3 was stupid but destroy should have been the only ending. The purpose of the reapers was also genuinely stupid.
>to protect the universe from AI we must create AI
>woops they’re killing US!
Besides this, Mass Effect was too niche but they still wanted to make it as marketable to a wide audience. Total mass effect sales across 4 games is around 30 million, total dragon age franchise sales across 4 games was also 30 million. Witcher 3 sold 65 million copies and didn’t try chase trends or another audience like ME and DA.

Better than becoming DA2
