Some gachas can have good gameplay as well, depending on your taste. The post-Genshin gachas have mostly evolved past the strictly auto-battle gameplay of the pre-Genshin Japanese era. The thing that truly makes gachas shitty is that they take something that is supposed to be fun (video games) and they turn it into a chore which you eventually grow to resent. Rain is about 1/3 of the way through getting the necessary skills for that setup as well, though he already has half MP and the skill for breaking the damage limit. Victoria's vision makes getting all of this stuff a breeze due to the 50% more MRP passive.

The gameplay is fun when you're doing cool setpieces and bosses, not when you're grinding out shitty sidequests to collect bear asses. The story is charming and interesting when it's sticking to the original beats and maybe expanding some shit with AVALANCHE or Wutai, but not when it's dicking around with time jannies or shoving Sephiroth in your face 100 times more often than the original game did, and the bad parts wear down your ability to enjoy the good parts. And since it's 3 games, people figured this shit out after the first game and didn't buy the second one.
